Bad Economy, Obama Fuel Rise in Militias: Report Fears of a return to anti-government violence of the 1990s

The election of America's first black president, fears of a secret Mexican plot to take over the Southwest and a painful recession have combined to fuel a rise in violent right-wing militias, according to a report by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The leading civil rights group is not the only one worried that the country could be on the verge of another domestic terror attack by a lone wolf hatemonger or radical militia member.
ATF agent Bart McEntire tells The Associated Press that militia growth is the highest its been in a decade, with the American Midwest, Pacific Northwest and Deep South, in particular, a tinderbox of right-wing hatred awaiting a spark.
Last year, the Department of Homeland Security was roundly criticized for warning white supremacists and militia members could try to recruit military veterans to their violent cause.
There is no secret plot for Mexicans to take over the southwest, it’s right out in the open and everyone else winks and laughs.
The definition of agitprop.
No, that was Pelosi & Reid that said that about our military personnel.
It’s funny how the media likes to track “militias” during Dem presidents tenures...but doesn’t track radical environmental terrorists...ever.
if you ask me (which you didn’t, this is an unsolicited opinion — media matters type “watchdogs” misrepresent this any way you wish), the government doesn’t fear the citizens enough.
Watched something on the History Channel monday evening about the War of 1812. Seems a militia marksman took out the Brit commanding general and the unknown marksman has been credited with saving the US.
Perhaps we need more not fewer militias.
Why do I fear militias less than I fear this government.
Militias are orders of magnitude more competent.
I know what you mean.
I also have a feeling if they were really concerned about this it wouldn’t be discussed out in the open.
“There is no secret plot for Mexicans to take over the southwest, its right out in the open and everyone else winks and laughs.
....you got that right....Reconquista is very real.

Yep, any statement from the southern poverty law center is BS dimrat political talking points.
(Important, serious newtalker voice) “The southern poverty law center announced today.....” YAWN.
They are almost as irrelavent as the guy who is playing president on the tv, old what’s his name, yeah the kenyan dude from Chicago. Good to see that a street thug can grow up to be living in the White House. Is it 2010 yet?
“e Southern Poverty Law Center. The leading civil rights group”
It is, and always was a Communist front. Civil rights group?
ROTFLMAO!!
....no mention of course of black miltant groups, Hispanic groups or Islamic groups....the SPLC takes in it’s considerable wealth off whitey groups.
So, simply being in opposition to Obama and the Democrats' radical Socialism is now "right-wing hatred".
Every news story that characterizes the right in this way is a small declaration of war, in my opinion.
If (or when) "spark" meets "tinderbox", the MSM will bear much of the responsibility for it.
Here they go again.
Morris Dees done gone off the deep end, long time ago. Decades ago his operation looked legit if a bit hypey, then he started to endorse pro-gay school propaganda in the early nineties. All downhill into that bottomless pit since then.
A few years back our local news set out to do an expose on militias here in Michigan. They ended up sitting in the leader’s kitchen talking politics and baking a birthday cake for the guy’s grandson.
I liked it because it showed a normal guy concerned about America and just being a normal grandpa.
