Taking the birther thing to a new level, archconservative Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) is considering filing a lawsuit to put President Obama on the spot over his birth documents, according to a Mohave Daily News readout of a Franks town hall over the weekend.
Oh, yeah, and Franks apparently didn't object when an audience member suggested Obama "denounced" the U.S. as a Christian nation during an overseas trip, which never happened.
MDN's Jim Seckler:
The other main issue dealt with numerous speakers questioning Obama's birth certificate and why there wasn't an investigation into whether he is a naturalized citizen. One woman said a newspaper announcement of his birth in Hawaii was not sufficient. Another asked how he could have a passport without a birth certificate.Franks said there was not enough evidence that Obama is not an American citizen. He did say there was a lot of conflicting evidence of Obama's citizenship and that he was considering filing a lawsuit, the only congressman to do so. Franks asked why the president did not simply produce a birth certificate.
One speaker, a pre-school teacher, tearfully said Obama denounced the country as a Christian nation and warned he should learn a civics lesson. Franks agreed with her saying he was offended that Obama denigrated the country on an overseas trip and the president should speak in favor of the country when abroad.
Context: Franks, is a global warming skeptic, pal of Focus on the Family founder James Dobson and served as a high-ranking aide to former Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham, who was removed from office and canceled the state's Martin Luther King Jr. holiday while Franks was on the payroll.
A similar suit has already been dismissed by the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.
ping.
Happy Monday...
Oh boy, Franks is in for it now...

The lib-tards are wee-weeing themselves!
Is there any such thing as an arch-liberal.?

Finally. A Franks in Congress we can all be proud of!
Good for Rep Franks....
Note that anyone who is criticizing the Birthers, esp trying to marginalize or insult them....are really closet liberals....and yes I am calling out people like Coulter, Beck, and others who join the far left on this issue.
If Obama is not legally authorized to serve as President, Americans need to know it.
Thanks to Rep Franks....we need more politicians involved
Confusing and backwards logic. The burden of proof is on Obama.
I’m sure that I read/heard that Franks was looking for “valid proof” to “look at” to determine how to proceed.
That said, I just emailed him a copy of Polarik’s Final Report.
Although he’s not my Rep., hopefully he’ll consider it.
I love the disclaimer at the end.

Soooh?
Memo to the author of this piece: Clearly, you detest Franks from the get-go. That's why you are trying to smear Franks as a "kook" (in your biased estimation), rather than provide "context" relevant to whether or not Obama is constitutionally qualified to be president. The issue is Obama's background, not Franks'! If you have any doubt as to whether Franks is qualified constitutionally to be a member of the House of Representatives, please let us know.
Please see my post # 14.
Maybe he can get Orly Taitz or Phil Berg to file it for him?
This is the same Congressman who said it would take 34,000 years to pay off the deficit that Obama and his fellow Representatives are running up? I suggest he doesn't need anyone to smear him as a kook.
Yeah!
Damning, I say. Simply damning! BIG SARC/off!
I don't know about Mecham, but I seen othing wrong with Franks' other positions. As I sit in my office, shivering on the 24th of August, I'm a big skeptic of Gobal Warming too -- especially when I read elsewhere that African nations have asked for the extra money I'm going to have to pay to support such nonsense.
Thanks justiceseeker93.
