Bill Cosby speaks bluntly about black people and education
Examiner ^ | August 19, 2009 | Donna Gundle-Krieg

Bill Cosby spoke about his feelings regarding black people and education in his recent rant called We Cannot Blame the White People Any Longer.

Cosby is probably the only person who could get away with talking the way he does because he is well respected among people of all races.

“People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around,” he says.

“They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk….You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.”

Cosby is especially upset that we have millionaire football players who cannot read or write two paragraphs.

“We, as black folks, have to do a better job,” he stated. “We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.”

He believes that “Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back.”

Black conservatives are hated far more than us whitey cons by the left in America...It is amazing that a black conservative in this country has the guts to stand up!

I applaud them all!!! God Bless them! Because you know why? They have far greater courage than most on the right who are white.

Not that I'm looking for any accolades or applause, but thank you for saying that. Indeed, we black conservatives are truly despised by most other blacks.

I'm the lone conservative in my family, and I must say that relations with my folks are held by a very thin thread. Standing up for what I believe with them has created divisions and hardened feelings like you wouldn't believe.

But, I don't back down. I'll share my thoughts and feelings about politics and culture with any black person without hesitation.

What's scary is that, over the years, the Black community has castigated Bill Cosby for stating these views. The PTB NAACP certainly will not support him.

The age of playing the race card has to be over, the permanent 'victimhood' needs to be eradicated.

Black students, at any level, if they aspire to achieve success, earned excellent grades...far too often are put down, ridiculed as 'acting white'. The peer pressure NOT to succeed in many lawful endeavors is certainly negating many futures.

It is sad that many black children feel it isn't cool to do well in school.

Trust me, this isn't a new thing. My parents both endured negative peer pressure from classmates and peers for their academic achievements in Watts of the late 1940s.

I love your sentiment! I have such diversity in my family and most are accepting to my conservative views. I am thankful..I could not even begin to imagine what you must be experiencing in your life while holding true to your convictions...thank you!

I have such diversity in my family and most are accepting to my conservative views. I am thankful.

You know, there was a time when my family operated on the premise of "live and let live". I was raised in a very tolerant and truth-seeking household. I'm grateful for that, because that freedom allowed me to develop in my own direction, choosing the path that seemed best to me - not the herd.

Over the decades though, my family members have become more and more indoctrinated into a more solid liberal viewpoint. One that isn't so tolerant or truth-seeking any more. It astounds me to see the transformation in them. They don't see it, but having found my way out of the liberal mind control trap myself, I can clearly see how much they've changed over time.

My feeling is that, of all the family, I'm the only one who's found their way back to the sane ground we all once inhabited.

I could not even begin to imagine what you must be experiencing in your life while holding true to your convictions.

I don't let it get under my skin that much. Not that it's never done so. There have been times when I went through real torture over my disintegrating family relations.

But, I don't wake up thinking about it, nor do I carry it to sleep with me each night. It just is what it is. I can't do their thinking for them. If they want to ignore the gargantuan dayglo handwriting on the wall, then it's their own integrity that they're compromising. They have to live with that, not me.

I’ll give an example of the rift.

My wife is in a management position. She has various employees who perform driver duties. 2 of them are black. One of them is an excellent employee, and the other one doesn’t show up a good part of the time. She can’t rely on him, so she cut him back to 1 day a week driving. He cursed at her and accused her of doing it because he’s black. When she reminded him that the other employee was black, and it had nothing to do with it, that she simply couldn’t rely on him, he told her that the other employee wasn’t real black.

Apparently, he’s not seen as true black by some people, because he speaks well and has a white girlfriend.

Without taking anything away from your observations of liberals in the black community, I can assure you that the same thing has happened in many, many white families, including mine. Your description of it hits the nail on the head.

And IMO, it's not conservatism that's changed. Liberals are far more radicalized, belligerent and flat-out aggressive than ever before, along with being greatly diminished in their ability to support even their simplest views, when even mildly questioned. They become instantly enraged over things they haven't the foggiest notion of how to explain, let alone justify.

Michael Savage attributes this to the massive use of anti-depressants amongst liberals, and I can agree that dealing with them is a lot like dealing with someone on drugs.

Observing this in our culture is alarming; experiencing it on one's family is horrifying.

Walter Williams comes to mind off hand.

Dr. Thomas Sowell is another....both are brilliant thinkers, although perhaps not quite as well known as Cosby amongst the "unwashed masses"....

That's an excellent observation, and one that most of us here have made in recent years.

A good example of this is an email exchange that I had last week with my brother. I had sent him some editorial cartoons which all featured his Dear Leader. Given that a picture can often capture the total essence of an argument, I figured his awareness would be somewhat raised about what the country's current attitudes toward Obama are.

He replied with some surly and incoherent statement, ending in the word "racist!"

In response to that outburst, I sent him the latest Presidential Approval polling data from Rassmussen and others. I even included the charts, with links back to the sites.

His response to that?

"Bye."

Now, this is a very intelligent man. One of his signature traits has always been the ability to win arguments. Used to drive me nuts when we were kids. But today, he quickly abandons his usual logic-driven formula when arguing politics, and resorts to a typical moonbat melt-down.

That indicates to me that he has no real argument, and is erupting in anger precisely because I've caught him without one.

I think this is the basis of this behavior among all liberals and leftist radicals. They know in their hearts that they don't speak the truth, so they must use dramatics and anger to force their viewpoint on others.

A person who speaks the truth doesn't need to overwhelm others with it, or scream it in others' faces. No - the truth is spoken frankly and matter-of-factly, without dramatics or out-of-control emotions.

Conversely, I believe that the anger we see coming from our side is a righteous indignation, borne of honest grievances with the destruction of our liberties and way of life.

I’m not saying it’s not relevant, but from what I could tell the original article presented the speech as brand-new.

Windflier, you’re right on the money here, in so many ways.

I’m sure you and everyone else have noticed that when a member of the radical left, whatever ethnicity, calls a talk show or is a guest on a political show (TV or radio), once they start talking, they never stop. Not even to take a breath, much less allow the other person to response.

I think it’s more than rudeness, arrogance or egotism. I think it’s a coordinated technique to drown out the opposition. Fortunately, the producers have the Mute button at the ready, and the better ones use it when they really start to overrun the other speaker.

What do you think?

If Obama cared at all about students’ futures, then this is the video he would show them on Tuesday.

I don't think the typical moonbat melt-down response to questioning or challenges is coordinated at all. I firmly believe that it's a purely human response to holding an indefensible and unsupportable position.

Liberals have little in the way of facts or reason to support their contentions. In essence, their whole philosophy is based on untruths and misconceptions, so they squirm and rage at being uncovered for the frauds they are. This can be accomplished by asking them the simplest of questions about their philosophy, or their leadership.

As soon as you open your mouth to challenge anything they believe in, they become defensive and belligerent. It's a purely mental reaction to being caught in a lie. That's all it is.

Very true, excellent point.

Then, I wonder about the paid moonbats who sit in on Hannity’s show, O’Reilly, etc. They tend to start talking and never stop.
