Jody Powell is chairman of Powell Tate. As one of the firm’s founders, he has been instrumental in creating Washington’s most dynamic and respected public relations firm, serving a client roster that includes many of the nation’s prominent corporations, trade associations and nonprofit organizations. In May 1970, Powell joined gubernatorial candidate Jimmy Carter’s staff. When Carter became the governor of Georgia in November 1970, Powell was appointed press secretary, a position he held through the end of Carter’s term as President of the United States. For five years, Powell wrote a twice-weekly column syndicated by the Los Angeles Times and was a news analyst for ABC News, appearing on such shows as This Week with David Brinkley, Nightline and Good Morning America. He has also lectured frequently on public policy and press issues.

Hard to believe he was 66 years old. I thought perhaps he was younger. Still too young to die.

He was kicked out of the Air Force Academy for cheating in his senior year.

As bad as President Peanut was, I always liked Jody Powell. He had a good skill set for being a Press Secretary, plus some charm and was honest. May he RIP.

was he the one who splashed amaretto into Jehan Sadat’s

The guy I really like is Pat Cadell. He was on with Beck I think on Saturday during the Tea Party.

He is an old school Blue Dog N. Florida Democrat and is sickened about what has happened to the Dems.

Just checked the accuracy of your statement...and it is correct. I'm sure I was in flight school with folks who knew him. Makes sense... a cheat and a democrat..they fly formation with one another.

Considering what a loser Carter was, I thought Jody Powell was a decent guy. And Obama’s press secretary makes him look absolutely splendid, in comparison.

May he rest in peace.

“....known for his deep Southern drawl....” To the parochial, insular MSM, which recruits almost exclusively from the liberal hives of the Northeast and the west coast, a Southern accent is sufficiently unusual as to be something one is “known for.” What jerks!

While in College, a few years back...I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Powell. We were there to interview him for our college paper, other colleges from Illinois were also represented.

He treated us well, was gracious and thoughtful.

Then he was a bad guy. I mean that. I think cheating shows a person’s
true colors. Ted Kennedy was a cheat.

So true; but, speaking of Jody Powell, whatever happened to that other Carter dynamo, Hamilton Jordan?
