would make it illegal to own a gun unless you are fingerprinted and can provide a drivers license and Social Security number. That's already the case in CT in order to get a pistol permit, which is required to purchase a hand gun.

I love DavidH’s reply in that column:
A LITTLE GUN HISTORY
The first step in gun-control is registration.
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens
SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!
With guns, we are citizens.
Without them, we are subjects.

I don’t own any firearms. Or ammo. No, really, I don’t. Honest.

Not this $hit again. HR45 has NO sponsors and is DOA. Worry about the other anti-gun legislation out there. This has been hashed 1,000 times already.

Just shut up about any guns you own. Even if they pass legislation that guns must be registered I will NOT comply.

Go to thomas.loc.gov and look up the bills...
No cosponsors, no action, both items.

H.R.45, the “Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009” is going nowhere. The Dems won’t move this out of committee or even hold any hearings on it this year. This is something they know will put them out of the House in 2010.
It doesn’t hurt to write your Congress Critter and express your opposition to this. But don’t panic. This law is going nowhere right now.
It’s also questionable whether SCOTUS would uphold this law. In light of the Heller decision, I think this bill, if it became law, would face certain constitutional problems in the court.

Isn’t Bobby Rush a CONVICTED FELON? Why does he care, he can’t carry a gun anyway. Maybe he just wants to disarm the rest of us so “he” can be safe?

will never happen....they tried it in Canada...it was a joke of a failure....gun owners falsified records, etc....how stupid can people be? Well...that’s kind of a rhetorical question.

Well, then I don’t have anything of interest.

Additionally under HR 45, a person buying a gun would have to undergo both a physical and mental evaluation before making a firearm purchase. It also would require guns be secured from access by children under age 18, and would empower law enforcement officers to come into your home to check compliance My home is my castle, no one enters without an invite (and you, Jo have a standing invite ;~).
Thanks for the ping!
