Name one thing that Obama has done that has promoted peace ...anywhere.

Ironically, if anyone truly deserved the Peace Prize, it was George W. Bush.

Leftists - what's good is bad. What's bad is good.

Very true. Also, it strikes me as sad that the guy who plays president on tv is openly mocked by other countries. This is no time to be playing around with affirmative action appointments. The bad guys play for keeps and we have a phony empty suit with no resume or experience. He is lost as hell and doesn’t even know it.

The man who accomplished nothing to gain the American presidency but won it because of the color of his skin, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize by the same logic. This is not a time to rejoice because an American has won the Nobel Peace Prize, this is a time to mourn the death of reason.

Definitely worth repeating.

Flowery rhetoric will get you big honors these days!

Man, April first came fast this year!

Then again, that should come as no surprise, with his spending, we'll also need several April 15ths per year to keep up.

I think so too. The timing is not coincidental. I still cannot think of one achievement that would have the Prize go to Obama on merit alone.

Obama has been doing all he can to foment civil war in the U.S. by driving desparate citizens to prepare to defend what is left of their liberties by armed force, and he gets a Nobel Prize for peace? That’s going to look pretty stupid when the roadside bombs start going off, not in Fallujah and Kabul, but in Detroit and Washington.

I go back and forth between his being lost and his being diabolically destructive. Or maybe a mix of both.

He clearly doesn't know how to lead, but he does know what's necessary to destroy this country that he hates, and in 9 short months that destruction is within his grasp.

He's both stupid and evil. Dangerous mix.

Not gonna happen. For one thing, they are not Catholic.

Completely dumbfounding...though his transformation into Jimmy Carter is now complete.

Here in Germany, the general reaction from the media as well as from most of people I spoke to (even from those who generally like Obama) was something along the line of “Why? He has not done anything productive since he took office.” I think it is remarkable that the online edition of Die Welt, which is a relatively conservative newspaper as well as Spiegel Online, which for my taste has recently moved way too far to the left on some topics (e.g. Obama)and also other media outlets agree that a) it is way too early to award Obama the Nobel as he has done nothing to earn it, yet and b) that this award will now be like a millstone around his neck, especially when it comes to foreign policy. They are also commenting on the fact that the Committee in Oslo seemed pretty desperate in explaining/defending their decision.

If Obama had any integrity and felt that a Noble Prize had an important meaning he would refuse to accept the award. At his press conference he should announce that merit is important and that until he has accomplished something deserving of the award he won’t accept it.
