President Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize
(Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com ...
The last sitting President to receive the Noble Prize was Wilson. Wilson earned the prize based on hope not actual his actions or achievements. Wilson sent American troops into half a dozen Latin American countries, not exactly a demonstration of peace. He had our Navy shell Veracruz and then take control of the city. He sent General Pershing across the border in pursuit of Pancho Villa. President Wilson felt entitled to choose who should rule Mexico and all other countries in Latin America. “Yankee Go Home” was Latin America’s response to Wilson’s arrogance and that was the begining of their anti-Americanism.
Wilson sent men and arms against Russia because the Bolsheviks refused to keep fighting WWI. His encouragement of ethnic self determination led directly to the Greeks invasion of what today is Turkey and the Armenian Genocide. In allowing the French to set terms for the treaty of Versailles Wilson laid the foundation for WWII.
The League of Nations was a complete failure but at the time it created hope for a better future. Hope over substance is what Wilson and Obama have in common.
LOL...good one!
This has got to be satire.
We’re officially in the Twilight zone now.
Oh no, I will miss it. I kind of like the moon...:-(
“Guess you can win the NPP for just not being George Bush.”
That’s right - and that’s the biggest lesson to date. If 75% of this country (and most of the world) become so angry at one man, it’s a dangerous situation. These angry people in this country are unfortunately afforded the right to vote, and John McCain might have needed some of those votes & the support to win, which wasn’t available because of all of the people who were so angry with George Bush. And I truly believe that Obama was ONLY elected because he wasn’t representing the party of George Bush. It wasn’t so much a vote FOR Obama as it was a vote against McCain.
It is very sad, and something to keep in mind for the future so that maybe more than 30% will vote based on sound, sensible values, rather than on emotion stemming from anger at an individual or his party.
So one would think, but here's the link: http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2009/press.html.

“So what is the Nobel committee after in this case? Gro Holm, the senior commentator on foreign affairs at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corp., says that the prize committee was probably trying both to ratify Obamas immense international popularity and put pressure on him to deliver on the promise of greater international peace and stability.
You cant overlook the fact that Bush was hugely unpopular here, and that Obama has turned that trend around, says Ms. Holm. My 14-year-old daughter was up all night watching election returns because of Obama.
Don’t forget that he has gone out of his way to make “peace” with the enemies of freedom all over the world, by apologizing for our “evils”.
There is no wonder anyone who would destroy our country for our enemies, foreign and domestic, would be rewarded by the world’s leftists with a “peace” prize.
He probably nominated himself.
I thought the Nobel Prizes were handed out in Stockholm — Sweden. Nobel was a Swede.
Isn't this prize handed out yearly? The "fix" was in for this TWO MONTHS after he was elected??? What had he even said other than a bunch of empty, feel-good nonsense? Not to mention..that's all he's got even now - words! They couldn't wait until maybe NEXT YEAR to give him the award - when he might of had some substance of results???
Nobel lost all respect from me when they gave this "prize" to Arafat - a known, admitted terrorist. What word means less than "all"?
What a despicable, dishonest and irresponsible reason to delay making a decision that costs the lives of American soldiers and those of our allies as well as innocent civilians!!! "Oh...I have to wait until I get that prize first (you know he knew he would), then I can pretend to do what is wise concerning the war."
“became president because Americans wanted to show Europe that we’re not racists”
Acutally it was the overt threat of vicious violence in the streets if Zero didn’t get elected.
Yep, that pretty much nails it. And it’s a shame.
Time was when the award of the Nobel Peace Prize was the highest accolade to a single human being in recognition of his or her body of work in the pursuit of peace. However, the award of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize has been reduced to a mockery.
Ever since Al Gore won the 2007 Prize, beating out Irena Sendler, the Nobel Committee has been a joke. For those who don’t know, she rescued 2500 Polish Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto during in WWII at great risk to her life.
There is an excellent link that summarizes exactly what she did to save those kids:
http://www.chabad.org/theJewishWoman/article_cdo/aid/939081/jewish/Irena-Sendler.htm
Irena Sendler never got a chance to be nominated again, as she died in 2008 and no Nobel Prize can be awarded to someone who is dead.
After 2007, I did not think that the Nobel Committee could ever top that Bozo selection. Yet, they did just that this year. There were others on the nominations list who were truly more deserving.
Al Gore and Barack Obama would have done much better to decline their awards. If they had stood up and graciously thanked the Nobel Committee for their selections, but asked that they be awarded to others more deserving, they would be thought more of of as statesmen and not the narcissistic prima donnas that they have become.
