Russia reserves pre-emptive nuclear strike right

Russia in a new review of its policy on use of nuclear weapons will reserve the right to undertake a pre-emptive strike if it feels its security is endangered, a senior Kremlin official told a Russian newspaper.

Russian and U.S. negotiators are in talks to find agreement on a new bilateral pact cutting stocks of strategic nuclear weapons. Both sides are working to a December deadline for a new treaty to replace the landmark Cold War-era START pact.

While Moscow and Washington have made progress in strategic nuclear arms talks, Russia's security may come under threat from regional conflicts and local wars, Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Kremlin's powerful Security Council, said in an interview with Izvestia newspaper to be published on Wednesday.

Russia was revising its military doctrine to include new terms of use of its nuclear forces, he said, adding that President Dmitry Medvedev, who chairs the Security Council, would be presented with the new doctrine by the end of the year.

"Conditions of using nuclear weapons to repel an aggression with the use of conventional weapons not only in a large-scale but also in a regional and even local war have been revised," he said, without naming these conditions...

In the Soviet days, I thought it was understood that any treaties or "no first use" doctrines adopted by them were hardly worth the paper that they were printed on. That's why we had 10,000 or so assorted warheads aimed their way. Now that the United States is officialy introspective and pacifist, they feel free to make their nuclear intentions known. Israel is probably the intended audience of this news. "We" will probably double down on our efforts to disarm, just so the Russians dont want to bite us. Gotta earn that Nobel surprise, you see.

“will reserve the right to undertake a pre-emptive strike if it feels its security is endangered,”

This seems like a sane policy to me. Flip it to see if it’s absurd:

“Russia says it will wait until seriously attacked before considering national defense including use of nukes”.

There are some at this site that will dislike me for repeating what I and others pleaded for all to consider well before the election. McPain in many's eyes and for good reasons was and is a jerk weed, RINO on various planes of the RINO level if one would like, or even worse in some cases.
But some thought it would be better for the communist with a garbled and disturbed mind to be elected to teach us all a lesson, so that we could somehow over a few years rejuvenate the Republican party by some quick fixes or something.
Now for those in that category, you may start seeing why some of us attempted to convince you we could over time vote out bad Republicans and reform the party without letting the Pandora Box be opened.
Now we shall pay the price. The goon that resides in the WH will set us back further in so many areas then most would wish to consider.
One is foolish to fool around with sticks of dynamite with the blasting caps attached to the wires leading to the switch box connected to the battery pack.
Especially if one is riding in some damn fool busted up pick up on a rather bumpy road.

I forgive you all. Your hearts where in the right place in hopes America at large would wake up and see what a goon was elected, and not only him but the whole cadre that would trail behind his flowing robes, and of course the socialist clowns on the Hill etc..
Many here, are on the same side on a macro level, and often in many cases on micro levels of discernment over very important issues that effect our Republic, and for that matter most of the Western Democracy at large.
But we blew it on this one. The one, (zero) is most likely around for another three years.
Can some of you imagine the fun the Russkie and Chinese are going to have in the years to come. Hildabeast as SoS, perhaps a change of guard for the worst at the DoD, it could happen, the jerks that now are in charge of our Treasury Department etc..
The creek is wide. the winds blow upstream. We lost our paddles for all practical purposes, and the creek has turned into *hit water.
I have been holding this in since the election. I can no longer hold it in.
Forgive me if I offend. It is not intended to.

No doubt we will soon hear Hillary/Obama say:

The USA will no longer reserve the right to do a pre-emptive Nuclear strike - paving the way for the Russians, our nuclear friends, to do the same - one day.

And for this hopeful statement, we want to win next year’s Nobel Peace Prize!

Well said - and you didn’t offend me.

Many said the same thing as you.

I despise McCain but held my nose and voted for him and for all Republicans running that I could vote for.

I don’t blame the 2008 elections on those conservatives who could not vote for McCain, however.

I blame it on the massive voter fraud effort led by Acorn but also by Union thugs and the NAACP throughout this country.

AND on many Independents and youths who were fooled by the “Hope/Change thing and by the “Bush is the devil” mantra.

Now we have what we have. 912 and the Tea Party movement show where the heart and soul of this country reside.

Will we survive as a nation in order to throw out many of the commies in Congress in 2010? And to throw out Barry in 2012?

Only by the grace of God and the continued good work of MANY who will NOT let them get by their treacheries unchallenged! (Including the heroes of FR)

Well said, FRiend.

I hold nothing but contempt for any citizen who stays home during an election.

Especially any who withheld your votes in order to "teach Republicans a lesson", shame on you.

You helped bring us to this.

"Will we survive as a nation in order to throw out many of the commies in Congress in 2010? And to throw out Barry in 2012?";
That is the question we all are faced with. We will survive. Our Republic is not just going to go into non existence, we have not reached such a horror story level yet.
But how many really bad pieces of legislation will be passed to Obi from Nairobi that we understand can be proven to be extremely detrimental to our country at largem that he will be most willing to sign off on.
How many, most likely leftest in the reality of things, end up replacing current Supreme Court Judges. Thank your for your approval. I just had to get it off my chest. I don't trust the Russians, nor the Chinese nor any of their puppet states any further then I could throw them.
And it should have been clear to all, assuming they think, the current POTUS was born into the world of socialism and Islam. There simply is no way around that fact. Everything we have learned about him, shows he has a far different ideology as what America should become.
But I do not want to rub in the realities to those of us that are with us that choose otherwise this time around.
Your volley of statements are simply valid.
I'll leave it go at that. And it is late, and you should not feel obligated to respond.

Thank you TC. I would have included you in my statements in post 30.
Our fellow conservatives should not be castigated in any shape or form. They feel equal pain over how things have turned out.
Let us hope we as a ideological group can somehow start to reverse so much that has gone wrong. Things that literally will/have modified and effected our fundamental freedoms and the way for so long we have taken for granted, living the American dream.

So much for trying to "reset" relations with Russia and "soft power." They didn't have to say anything. That was spitting in the face of soft power advocates.

They’ll never, ever say it, but Russia needs its nuclear deterrent to guard against China.

For Russia, surrendering its nuclear arsenal would be an open invitation for China to invade.

Thanks to Obama and the dems being in power, I have never felt our country was so unprotected .... “in my entire adult life”.

If Russia were to threaten to attack us, Obama would likely head to Chicago to organize a community.
