Okay okay, one final birther story. Unfortunately for the true believers your leader, Orly Taitz, was fined $20,000 for mis-use of the legal system. Justice Clay Land wrote a 43 page order railing against Ms. Taitz and warned her against misusing the court system to push purely political agendas. You can read the order here (it's pretty scathing).
For any who are not familiar with Orly Taitz, she is one of the leaders of the so-called birther movement who has sought to have the legitimacy of President Obama's election over-turned through the claim that he never provided a true birth certificate and that he was actually not born in Hawaii, but in Kenya (or some variation on that general theory).
Not one to give up, Taitz has kept her fight up to this day, filing lawsuits and generally hectoring Obama with these claims in any way she can. Judge Land just had enough apparently. He said the $20,000 fine is "a deterrent to prevent future misconduct and to protect the integrity of the court."
Here's the thing, basically the first thing they taught us in law school was Rule 11 of the Rules of Civil Procedure. Under Rule 11 lawyers may not engage in frivolous actions, waste the courts time or mis- use legal proceedings simply to annoy people. I think it was arguable that after the first birther suit got thrown out of court before Obama was even nominated the question was settled. To have kept up in this manner for nearly a year after he was elected is just beyond crazy.
Hey Taitz, you lost, move on! You can't go around accusing Presidents of not being citizens without some real proof, and that's exactly what you have, a lack of proof. Move on with your life!
Of course she won't. The birthers are the Right's version of the truthers on the left. These people don't know the meaning of quit. 50 years from now I'm sure of 3 things: 1) People will still think there was a conspiracy to kill JFK, 2)People will think there was a conspiracy and Bush was some how involved in 9/11, 3)People will still think Obama was really born in Kenya and not a citizen of the United States.
We have no leader.....that’s part of the problem.
In the nutty world we live in, a request to see the birth certificate is the highest form of insanity.
This reversal of the sane with the insane has been remarkably effective.
Just keep posting the same article day after day after day after day.
No one will notice.

I kind of liken the birthers to people accusing Clinton of having oral sex with an intern in the oval office, except she had the dress washed.
A difficult case to prove. Sometimes one must choose their battles.
It’s also a shame when folks get so wrapped up in a cause that they can’t see what is wrong with someone like Orly leading them along. I’m sorry, but she is a train wreck in progress. The better the birther movement tosses her aside, the better for them.
I sure thought that the burden of proof belonged to the elected President to establish his Natural Born credentials, not that they were automatically assumed and had to be proven false.
But, hey, I'm not a lawyer, so I know what the meaning of "is" is without having to go to court about it.
Notwithstanding, how else can a president be compelled to produce a relevant document if not by a court action? And is doing so necessarily "political" or "frivolous?"
And does anybody really trust judges anymore?

Let’s set up a moral equivalency to show how the “Birthers” who feel that the constitutional standard of proof has not been met are exactly the same as the “truthers” who think that the President, Vice President and others arranged the murders of thousands of Americans by arranging planes to fly into buidings that had been wired with demolition explosives beforehand.

Perhaps. But there is no “movement”. there have been dozens of suits filed, but many different folks who don’t or didn’t know each other from adam. There are also thousands of independent folks continuing to research the subject. She just happens to be good at getting publicity, for better and for worse. And it won’t matter what anyone thinks about her if just one of these cases goes to discovery, whether hers or any else’s.

The difference is that we’ll be right...he’s an illegal.

This guy is supposedly a Right winger? He sounds like the brain damaged Joy Behar.
Soetoro's whole strategy was to hold off the questions until after he got elected, by which time he knew it would be virtually impossible to challenge him.
"You can't sue until you have damages, which means after the election" blah blah, all the convenient little road blocks.
And Taitz is nuts? Ever seen the Doc who says she's seen the BC? If she isn't an Anti-American nut case, dunno who is.
I'm sure she has seen it. I'm also 99% sure she would lie about what she saw to get back at America (she's half Japanese, half native Hawaiian - can you say, "grudge group"?), and also that the Dims got to her and made sure she knew that something will be done for her if she says the right things.
Orly Taitz may not be the right standard bearer, but that doesn't mean she's wrong, just that the so called leadership of the Stupid Party is neutered.
Funny I don’t recall all the name calling when the same burden of proof was demanded of McCain and he met it.
And I'm sure the people in 1 and 2 will be convinced they're right, too.
Filing poorly-written briefs and getting judges mad at her will never get anything to discovery. It's painful to read her filings - I'm not a lawyer but know a few of 'em, have read a few briefs in my time as a result, and hers have to be the worst I have ever seen.
