Cap And trade For Babies: One Child Policy Coming to USA? (Limbaugh/IBD)
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | October 20, 2009 | rush Limbaugh/ IBD

Posted on 10/20/2009 6:47:11 PM PDT by raptor22

This is an editorial here from the Investor's Business Daily: "Cap-and-Trade for Babies." It's coming, folks. They're going to offer young couples carbon credits for only having one child. The theory is that human beings are polluting and destroying the planet. Now, Paul Ehrlich wrote about this back in the seventies in The Population Bomb. It's been totally disapproved, discredited. This has been part of the militant environmental extreme for years, and here now the people who can make it a reality are running the country... But like everything else in the militant environmentalist wacko community, I believe this is going to happen someday. Once they get these ideas, they don't give them up. They've been working on this since 1976, and now we got Anita Dunn, who sings the praises of the great "philosopher" Mao Tse-tung in the White House....

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to go back to this editorial in the Investors Business Daily in which the New York Times environmental writer Andrew Revkin participated in a panel six days ago, panel discussion on climate change with other media pundits, and it was called "Covering Climate: What's Population Got to Do With It?" The lefties have been positing the notion -- I first heard it in the seventies when Paul Ehrlich came out with The Population Bomb that too many people, not enough resources, not enough food, we're all going to die, we gotta limit population. It's now gotten to the point that what we exhale, carbon dioxide, is the biggest pollutant on the planet and is destroying the planet and we're going to be in trouble, and they believe that humanity is the greatest scourge on the earth anyway, it's destroying other species, it's destroying resources, and now it's destroying the planet.

HA good luck enforcing that with the welfare “social program” recipient crowd.

My pious Catholic friend with 7 children, who actually voted for Zero, will be thrilled with this plan.

I was so appalled when I found out she voted for him. I asked her how she could vote for an abortion-loving socialist, and she said it was "because of the war...."

The irony is that's she married to a French man (they all live here now), and he was mad at her for voting for Zero because "he's a socialist." Growing up under socialism evidently makes it easy for you to spot it later!

When we were in China we enjoyed watching the little children playing with their grandparents. We then realized that not only do these children not have siblings to play with, they don’t have cousins either. When you destroy the family by taking away progeny, there is no one left to take care of the elderly, except the government.

Didn't zero remove the cap on the amount of children for which welfare moms can receive money? i m a publik scewl teechur, and one of the first lessons I learned was that girls get more money if their babies have different dads. Each year we have several grandmas (you don't expect a 14 year-old to raise a baby do you?) that coach their grandchildren how to act disabled. Moms get a “crazy check”, in addition to a welfare check and Medicaid, if their babies are disabled mentally or physically.

Muslims's exempt no doubt.

Meantime; are we going to get back - ever - to what made America great; or will 'that' America be only a memory etched in history. . .

Sad, pathetic. . .challenging times.

We can save our Country if a majority has...keeps the Faith and finds the Will.

Some don't realize that “Honor thy mother and thy father” does not mean do what mom and dad tell you to do. That is just a given. This commandment means that we are to honor our parents by taking care of them in old age the way that they took care of us as infants. Gubmint care for my parents terrifies me!

They have no intention of enforcing it on the welfare crowd,
just on the conservative Christians.

Case in point - how often do you hear a story of a zero tolerance policy being enforced on an “at risk youth”
vs how often on an Eagle Scout or Honor Student?

The problem is, one grown child trying to take care of two elderly parents and work and take care of a child is probably asking a lot. Think of a society where EVERYONE is in this situation!

Well, I'm glad to say our 30th grandchild was born yesterday. How's that for a carbon footprint?

Mess with my folks and I’ll come with hell right behind me. I’ve almost been down that path before, luckily cooler heads prevailed.

Excellent observation and analysis.

I’d add that with no siblings or near family, the young will tend to bond with their authority figures (the State), thus forming a form of brotherhood with the State.

Given Asia’s preference for boys, girls have been aborted disproportionately. Historically, whenever a nation finds a high enough ratio of men-to-women, those nations have “offshored” that restless and aggressive population of unmated men to fight in wars abroad.

Oh I agree with you. Our current administration does not want us taking care of one another. Just like the gubmint does not want private charities taking care of the poor.

You are correct. They will implement this credit (and, later, after the people accept the social engineering and the lie behind it, the punishment of a higher tax bracket) through the payroll.

The poor will be exempt because they are on welfare.

Thus, this will act to reduce the numbers of the middle class while also eliminating the pathetic “wealth barrier” that separates them from the lower class.

And this fits in perfectly with the original intent of the statists from the the mid-19th century (both the communists on the Marx side and the Industrialists/Financiers on the Crony-Capitalist side with whom they colluded): elimination of the middle class (which provided economic mobility and freedom) and return to the two-class system of Lords and Serfs.

Why not a one-child policy?

It worked so well in China.

And in Europe, the non-Muslims are doing their part to limit their babies and carbon footprint.

What could go wrong?
