He can't do much without a willing Congress, and Congress isn't willing. IIRC, 66 rats in the House signed a letter to Holder telling him to forget about renewing an "assault weapon" ban.

they are trying to control ammunition.. a gun is useless without it. People are buying guns because people know something stinks and that things just dont feel right.

That would only create a thriving black market with much stiffer penalties for informants than say, the current marijuana market.
Drugs are illegal, so are invaders from other countries, and they haven't really slowed any of that down, do they really think they can stop guns?
Earle Stanley Gardner, the author of all the old Perry Mason novels was reputed to have a collection of homemade firearms, some rather sophisticated (not your average zip gun).
They going to start regulating machine tools and metal stock next?
