Many Gun Owners Think Obama Will Try to Ban Gun Sales
Gallup ^ | October 20, 2009 | Frank Newport

Fifty-five percent of this group, and 41% of all Americans, hold this belief

PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup poll may explain recent reports of increased gun and ammunition sales in the U.S. Majorities of those who personally own a gun (55%) and of those with a gun in the household (53%), as well as 41% of all Americans, believe that President Obama "will attempt to ban the sale of guns in the United States while he is president."

Will Barack Obama Attempt to Ban the Sale of Guns in the United States While He Is President?

"Gallup's question documents that for a majority of gun owners, the belief that the president intends to try to ban the sale of guns is apparently quite real."

The issue of Obama's intentions relating to guns has particular relevance given the widespread news reports of sharply increased sales of guns and ammunition. Many of these reports suggest that the reason behind these increased sales is the belief -- right or wrong -- that the president intends to severely curtail the legal availability of guns and ammunition. A recent National Public Radio news story, for example, reported: "Gun dealers and bullet-makers are straining to keep up with record demand for ammunition. Some dealers think it's because of fear that President Obama might limit gun use. Although the president has made no specific proposal, bullets for sportsmen have been scarce for months."

And similar themes were struck in an Associated Press report: "American bullet-makers are working around the clock, seven days a week, and still cannot keep up with the nation's demand for ammunition. Shooting ranges, gun dealers, and bullet manufacturers say they have never seen such shortages. Bullets, especially for handguns, have been scarce for...

obama and the 'rats have pretty-well signaled that they are ok with going for broke right now while they have as much power as they can reasonably expect to ever have. They're preparing to go nuclear on "health care reform" (snort), they're appointing czars, dodging the birth certificate issue, cap-n-tax, stifling Fox News and political dissent (or trying)...

Lots of them seem to have no problem with the idea that they are guaranteeing obama will be a one-term President. It doesn't seem to bother them that many of them will be voted out the very next time they're up for election. They are pushing has hard and fast for as much as they can.

Given that environment, any and every long-term wet dream of the radical socialists on the left are in play. I would not put it past them. They are pushing hard, maybe even trying to provoke a serious firearms related incident to give themselves an excuse. Heck, they may manufacture one here shortly if no-one obliges them. The state-run media gives them cover on any issue they want, truth be hanged. I think they'll try it, and it may get very, very ugly.

I’m not willing to take that chance, especially given our current anti-American governmnet. If our country is disarmed, then we fall. I’ll keep my guns, thank you.

I think you are absolutely correct. I do not trust this government any further than I could throw the national debt. Never in the history of our Country have we the citizens need our firearms as much as we do now. The government is making unprecedented pushes to control our lives in numerous ways. Perhaps the only thing stopping them from a complete melt-down of our Constitution is the fear of the armed citizenry.

Zero can declare martial law a dozen times, and no one will give a shit.
Heh, if he declared martial law, instead of the military enforcing it, they’d probably arrest him and lock him up! :0). I have several friends with rank in the military, and I know how they feel about him.

From his campaign website, and for a time from the White House's "urban agenda" page.

* Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

All we can hope for is conservatives to counter this. Sadly, it won’t happen with this current crop of rinos. This is why we’re stocking up. Most of our Republican reps are failing us. We’re all waiting for 2010. That is the make or break date of our Republic.

Yeh, but someone else will buy them, and when SHTF, they can be distributed to friends....

They are floating studies detailing the “heath risks” of gun ownership. Declare guns a “health” hazard and regulate them out of our hands.

Once they get the health care bill passed, they'll go after guns, hammer and tongs. But within government health care, once they drive most people to the "government option", they'll deny care, or have ridiculously high rates, for those who own guns, including their dependents. Of course they'll dig into the transaction logs of the "instant check" system to find out who to deny or gouge.

I’d sell my car before my gun and take the bus. I’d figure it out. I’d never sell me weapon.

But we own guns, they are powerless. Oh, sure, they can make all their ‘rules’ and ‘laws’, and will you give it up? Just go galt. Do we really need the government to take care of us? LOL, what a joke. Most of us know government isn’t the answer. This is what we have to remember, this is what we’re fighting. This is EXACTLY why our founders had established the 2nd amendment; to F the elites. Us ‘common’ folks will make it happen. I’m %100 sure. Bambi and his ilk are poison ivy, it will bet better.

Not too many people really understand the contempt that Obozo has throughout the military. They utterly despise him. Look on the faces of these Marines in this picture. Their expressions speak volumes:

But we own guns, they are powerless.

But are they bright enough and/or open minded enough to figure that out.

Or will they "give it a try". The American Colonists were well armed, as well as more organized and practiced, than most are today. The British marched out from Boston to "have a go" anyway.

>> These posts are motivated by raw greed. ... I tried to sell ... almost no one is willing to pay what appears to be market price for any of them. Only when I dropped the price a bit on two of them was I able to sell them for UNDER market value.

Why is it that people only talk about other people being greeddy? To paraphrase Milton Friedman, the “market price” of any good or service is set when the buyer and seller AGREE. Just because YOU think it’s worth $200 or $2,000 doesn’t mean anything.

"I tried to sell almost all of my guns on the secondary market and almost no one is willing to pay what appears to be market price for any of them."

I'm curious- how were you trying to market your guns? Newspaper ad, Craig's list, pawnshops, gunshow, or other? And how did you assess market value?

when SHTF, they can be distributed to friends....

When buying in bulk to arm your friends there's no better deal than Mosin Nagants by the crate. One hundred bucks a pop and C&R eligible, even in California these things are cash and carry.

Who needs machine tools and metal stock - I just saw them make a cannon froom 2” of overwrapped duck/duct tape on Mythbusters. Threw the cannon ball 300 feet with black powder and a simple fuse.

Machining/Metal - HA! Inovation will prevent our disarmament. PVC, butane and I’ve got a spud gun.

The possibilities are endless!
