Brian Wilson just said the declaration enables the people in place for first responders to get ready, like putting the infrastructure in place ahead of a hurricane making landfall. I don’t know how to cifer that for pig flu.

This whole swine flu farce is another excuse to impulse more socialism

Your judgement about their motives is entirely correct.

Your judgement that it's a farce? That remains to be seen.

You might be right, but maybe not.

WHY no national emergency to make folks stop eating bacon? That is the REAL “swine” problem in this country. Look at the number of deaths from heart disease!

Milk the “crisis” for everything it’s worth. Right out of the Alinsky playbook.

See my post #176

That’s what seems to be happening in most areas. Who is actually being tested for swine flu?

I asked my sister who lives in Thialand what they hear about the swine flu. She said they haven't heard a thing about it for months.

It is very odd that if this is a pandemic and it started in Mexico this summer why is it only effecting the US and not other countries?

Fox just had some “former secretary” on and he said this emergency would allow the POTUS to call out the National Guard if it was necessary to control the public if there is panic. I find that most interesting.

Very interesting, imfrmdixie.

Read post #180 and the contents from the link. Keep in mind the typical flu strain kills 36,000 Americans each year and yet no National emergency is ever declared. The swine flu has killed 5,000 over the last several months. It's far less deadly than the typical strain.

Sebelius Prods Senate to Move on Surgeon General Nominee

EXCERPT

“We are facing a major pandemic, we have a well-qualified candidate for surgeon general, she’s been through the committee process. We just need a vote in the Senate,” Sebeilus said. “Please give us a surgeon general.”

Benjamin was unanimously approved by the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Oct. 7, but Senate Republicans are holding up all HHS nominees over a so-called gag order on insurance companies that have been critical of Democratic efforts to reform health care.

“We’ve not received any recent calls from the administration about their nominee,” a senior Republican aide said. “There won’t be any time agreements for confirmation of HHS nominees until their actions have been fully reviewed.”

You can’t fix stupid. Look at all the stupid people standing in the rain exposing themselves to all those other people who might already have the flu. For hours.

Agreed. How does the number of infections and deaths where we are sitting justify this declaration? Putting the least sinister explanation on it would be that we are now such a nation of government-dependent pansies, he had to do it, even if just for show. But, with him, who knows?

Here's a new bulletin from CDC you might find interesting:

Current Situation
Due to the circulation of 2009 H1N1 influenza in the United States and many other countries, airport staff in some foreign countries may check the health of arriving passengers. Many other countries, including Japan and China, are screening arriving passengers for symptoms of the flu.

If you are sick with symptoms of flu-like illness, you should not travel. These symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people may also have vomiting and diarrhea. People may be infected with the flu and have respiratory symptoms without a fever.

The United States is not screening travelers who arrive from other countries or depart for other countries.

In other countries that are conducting entry screening for 2009 H1N1 flu, travelers may be checked for fever and other symptoms of 2009 H1N1 flu, and their travel may be delayed. Consult the embassy of the country, or countries, in your travel itinerary for information about entry screening procedures. (October 15, 2009)

If doctors in your area are telling you few people have H1N1 as a result of H1Ni tests they are running, they are fibbing. As far as I know, Texas is the only state that set up it’s own special swine flu testing labs in May and the rest of the country is dependent upon the Federal Government’s labs and they stopped testing for swine ful in July.

So your docs can not say for sure the number of people who have gotten the swine flu in your state. They are repeating rumors and nonsense.

Also, for you folks who keep repeating that number “36,000’ die of regular flu each year, that is a made up number. They accumulate that data - someone at CDC guessitmated.

It is becoming clearer why zero’s homeland security and CDC is not collecting data on the flu. This way they can make up any numbers they want in order to justify what they want with invented data.

Looks like they want “national emergency” for the made up number of a million cases of the flu.

Also, zero gave away (global life redistribution) 10% of our vaccines. To those who don’t want or need the vaccine, this is fine. But to those who want it and many “soccer moms” desparately want it, they will not be allowed to have it because zero is into redistributing the vaccine to third world nations as ordered by WHO.

If we were smart - and Republicans are not smart - we would be making a big deal about this as zero ratchets up the fear factor in the public to justify police state powers and emergency passage of his socialist take over of the health care industry. If this is so serious, why is zero killing Americans? Why is there a shortage of vaccines if this is such a dangerous flu virus? Is this what we can expect from government health care - death?
