WASHINGTON (AFP) – President Barack Obama has declared swine flu a "national emergency," the White House said Saturday, as the United States reels from millions of cases of infection and over 1,000 deaths.

Same way here. Malls are crowded, Football games are crowded. No increased absentee rate in the schools. No news reports about schools closing because of the flu-I have seen that happen when the seasonal flu was a bad one. No one has been begging for a vaccine.
I know of no one that has had it. I know of no one with an early case of the seasonal kind.
My son was sick a few weeks ago with flu like symptoms, but no fever. Cough, achey, lethargic. Felt better after a few days, then felt bad again and then back to normal.
He is away at college, went to the health office, they were not concerned. Did not even test him. I would imagine if there was more than one case he would have been tested.
My neighbor was very ill with a respiratory flu-like symptoms including a fever, She was tested—negative.
They are playing politics with this, of that I have no doubt.
Where’s the vaccine, BO? If this incompetence were happening on George Bush’s watch, the libs would be screaming for his hide on every newscast. But they are quiet as mice, hoping no one will notice this latest failure of their god.

Public Health to suspend H1N1 clinic end of day Friday
KING COUNTY, WA - Public Health's four H1N1 vaccination clinics will suspend operations at the end of the day Friday, October 23. As a result of high demand at these four sites, all the vaccine initially set aside for this purpose has been used and no additional vaccine has become available because of the national delay in vaccine production. Vaccine continues to be available through some health care providers in King County, but remains in very short supply.
More proof that a huge, Government-run, centralized healthcare system is the way to go ;-)
It's obvious that we can't trust these people to know how to tie their own shoes, much less competently oversee a flu outbreak.

1. Implementing a National Emergency: US Code Title 50, Chapter 34, Subchapter II, Sec. 1621. Declaration of national emergency by President. (a) “With respect to Acts of Congress authorizing the exercise, during the period of a national emergency, of any special or extraordinary power, the President is authorized to declare such national emergency. Such proclamation shall immediately be transmitted to the Congress and published in the Federal Register.” US Code Title 50, Chapter 34, Subchapter III, Sec. 1631. Declaration of national emergency by Executive order. “When the President declares a national emergency, no powers or authorities made available by statute for use in the event of an emergency shall be exercised unless and until the President specifies the provisions of law under which he proposes that he, or other officers will act.”
2. Terminating a National Emergency: US Code Title 50, Chapter 34, Subchapter II, Sec. 1622 (a) Termination methods. “Any national emergency declared by the President in accordance with this subchapter (II) shall terminate if - (1) there is enacted into law a joint resolution terminating the emergency; or (2) the President issues a proclamation terminating the emergency.”
3. Martial law: Title 32, Chapter V, Part 501,Sec. 501.4. “Martial Law depends for its justification upon public necessity. Necessity gives rise to its creation; necessity justifies its exercise; and necessity limits its duration.” “In most instances the decision to impose martial law is made by the President, who normally announces his decision by proclamation, which usually contains his instructions concerning its exercise and any limitations thereon.” When the Federal Armed Forces have been committed, “the population of the affected area will be informed of the rules of conduct and other restrictive measures the military is authorized to enforce. These will normally be announced by proclamation or order…” “Federal Armed Forces ordinarily will exercise police powers…”
Sec 501.1 (e) “Units and members of the Army Reserve on active duty may be employed in civil disturbances operations in the same manner as active forces.”
Sec. 501.3 (a) “In the enforcement of the laws, Federal Armed Forces are employed as a part of the military power of the United States and act under the orders of the President as Commander in Chief.”
Note: Taking the subject of martial law from the realm of absurdity to that of a very real possibility: Senator Robert Bennett, Chairman of the Special Senate Committee on the Year 2000 Technology Problem asked Deputy Defense Secretary, John Hamre: “In the event of a Y2K-induced breakdown of community services that might call for martial law,” will the military be ready? Hamre’s reply: “We’ve got fundamental issues to deal with that go beyond just the Year 2000 contingency planning. And I think you’re right to bring that up.”
This was assembled in 1999 for a possible Y2K crisis - but, as you can see, the Tea Party groups may be included in: “Units and members of the Army Reserve on active duty may be employed in civil disturbances operations in the same manner as active forces.”

In any event, if they were ready for martial law for Y2K, can there be any doubt that martial law will be declared WHEN the financial crisis Obama is manufacturing fully develops?
Canada put out a study claiming those who got the regular flu shot were more at risk for swine flu. So they did not have the double flu shot plan in their health care system like the US. The US said the study was bull. Canadians are not trusting their “smart experts” and coming to the US for the regular flu vac. denied to them by their central gov.

Republicans should call for the resignation of Sebelius who failed to ensure there was adequate swine flu vaccine for the population this is a crisis of their own making.
