Eric Williamson, from Springfield, Virginia, was brewing coffee in his kitchen when a woman and a seven-year-old boy walked past the window and saw him.

The woman complained to police who arrested Williamson shortly after the incident on Monday morning.

Williamson, 29, insisted he did nothing wrong and that any exposure of his private parts were accidental.

"Yes I wasn't wearing any clothes but I was alone, in my own home and just got out of bed. It was dark and I had no idea anyone was outside looking in at me," he said.

Williamson, who has a five-year-old daughter, added: "I am a loving dad. Any of my friends and anyone knows that and there is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever, ever do anything like that to a kid.

"I never had a conversation with anyone, never saw anyone. Didn't cross my mind, came and got coffee. I mean if I stood and seemed comfortable in my kitchen possibly it's natural. It's my kitchen," he insisted.

A spokesman for Fairfax county police, Mary Ann Jennings, said Williamson was arrested because officers believed he wanted to be seen naked by the public.

The 29-year-old faces up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine if he is convicted. He is fighting the charge and seeking damages from police.

Somehow I bet if a man walked around his neighborhood and reported seeing a naked woman making coffee, he would be arrested for voyeurism.

From “Superman” part duh, Guilty, Guilty, Guilty. That’d be me. Best coffee is made in the dark. Afterall, the filters do keep chest/pubic hair out of the final product.

Well, I’m glad they can read his mind, but they give no indication this was a pattern.

Of course there's a pattern! I'd be willing to bet that this guy gets nekkid at least one time, every day! The pervert! </Sarcasm>

I wonder how busy a street he lives on? My street is not even a through street, yet I know that there are people out before dawn walking their dogs, jogging, etc. So if he had no blinds or curtains drawn, this comes off as disingenuous at best. It’s different if you’re on an acreage somewhere and can reasonably expect privacy.

This was a topic on a local radio talk show the other night, and the host mentioned a number of items that weren't covered in the British news article. First off, it occurred at about 5:30am. Secondly, according to the host, his kitchen faces his back yard. It seems (according to the host) that the woman and her child were taking a short cut through the man's back yard. Again, I don't know with certainty that this was the case, but if so, the woman should be charged with false persecution, trespassing, peeping, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Just wait for this guy to be marked for life a sexual predator, escape to France, and get arrested in Switzerland after 30 years. There’ll be hate filled threads about him on FR every day!

Oops!

I've been telling my husband for 30 years that he could be seen if he walks around nude in the house, which he occasionally does--to get a coffee, from bathroom to walk-in closet through our bedroom which has a huge floor to ceiling window. He thinks because we have a 1 acre lot with shrubs and trees, he is okay.

He has never done it when other people were in the house, but feels perfectly comfortable with the trips I mentioned. When we first built, there were only 4 houses in here and it was total woods outside our bedroom. Now, a road has been cut thru down from our bedroom and more houses behind us.

Evidently, this man's kitchen window is low and facing a sidewalk. Hopefully, he will grab shorts next time.

Seriously, though, how can someone be charged with indecent exposure when within their own home when the looker/lurker is outside.

Get the Mother and her dagger off of the street. Since when is is polite and decent to look into someone else house.

If there was screaming, banging and shots being fired, fair enough.

Seems to me they got exactly what they were looking for. If not then what were they looking for.

Wake up America. We were born naked. What is the big deal

Can you point to a precedent where someone made coffee naked 30 years ago and is just now getting hate-filled threads here on FR?

Well I can give the guy some advice, don’t fry bacon for breakfast while naked, it can sting.

Well, of course. In that jurisdiction, one must go to Starbuck’s for coffee when naked.

If this guy had his blinds or curtains closed (dark outside, lights on inside??), this wouldn’t be an issue. :-p

I agree that if you’re trespassing in someone’s yard and see a nekkid person who would normally not be visible from the street, you should not be able to make a complaint - that’s as silly as a Peeping Tom complaining he didn’t see enough.

However, the time of day or darkness should not be an argument for not having to cover one’s windows from nudity - you mention 5:30 - I frequently walk at a school track at that time of day, and there are houses of early-risers which back up to the school grounds, and we can see into their houses as we walk on the track, specifically into their kitchens, since kitchens ARE usually in the back of the house. If I were an occupant of those houses, I would make no assumption of privacy, neither as an early morning walker would I call the police if I saw someone nekkid in their own house.

Yeah, it’s still weird to not close the blinds. I guess it must be a country thang, or an old fashioned thing. Use to be, people closed blinds to avoid peeping toms.
