Crackdowns on illegal immigrants and other law enforcement efforts are driving gangs out of Northern Virginia and into Maryland and the District, a report released Monday concluded. "Many gang members from Northern Virginia are moving or driving to Prince George's and other Maryland counties, into the District of Columbia or further south and west into Virginia to avoid dealing with police departments that are unrelenting in their efforts to keep gangs under control," authorities wrote in the Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force report.
The report said the task force's success is the result of Virginia law enforcement's use of anti-gang policing measures, including the referring of suspected illegal immigrants to federal authorities. Since the task force was created in 2003, it has arrested 952 gang members, more than 40 percent of whom were illegal immigrants, the report said.
Experts say jurisdictions such as Montgomery County, where police are told to look away from immigration violations, have become safe havens for gangs.
The law enforcement group hired independent reviewers to develop the "Comprehensive Gang Assessment," which studied the effect of the task force's efforts between 2003 and 2008 in Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun and Fauquier counties, as well as Alexandria. The task force has brought federal and local law enforcement agencies together, and the report credits it with helping drive down the region's violent crime rate by 17 percent over the six years of the study....

It has a great deal to do with Corey Stewart and his colleagues on the Prince William Board of Supervisors, and their counterparts in Loudoun County, and local law enforcement. This just goes to show that even if you have a governor who panders to illegals and their advocates, you can still get started cleaning up your community. The federal government has done everything it can to stymy them, and still, these results.
Wait til 25 of them crowd into a three-bedroom house and all park their cars out front, next door to him. He’ll love that. Especially in the summer, when they sit outside and make lots of noise into the early morning hours.
Martin O’Malley will welcome them to Maryland with a state driver’s license.
They can move in next to their "homeboy".
Yup. And no insurance requirement for the illegals.
this happend to daughter & SIL in Spotsy. County Va.
Just a flophouse, really, but noise, trash, pet chickens, she was not happy.
My daughter moved.
Maryland deserves this.
Heh heh. Richly deserves this.
Wonder if it could work in Gwinnett county, GA?
You have to get your county government and law enforcement on board. You need the kind of leadership Corey has provided in Prince William. And there has to be a relatively nearby county that is more tolerant of illegals and gangs for them to flee to. If you have that kind of situation, there is no reason why it wouldn’t work in Gwinnett County. It is working like a charm here.
Anytime an artcle includes the phrase “experts say” it is usually unsupportable nonsense, but in this case it is 100% correct.
Speak for yourselves. I didn’t vote for the cabal that’s in power up here. Make sure the gangs don’t stop at my house, if they want to live.
Indeed. You bring the baseball bats, and I'll bring the tire irons.
Maryland "Freak State" PING!
And Montgomery County, which so richly deserves them.
This is a case of the blind leading the blind or the useful idiot leading another useful idiot.
McCain got his ideas from Kennedy and Kennedy got his ideas from who? No doubt someone to the left of Mao Tse Tung.
