Hoffman can win this thing. If he doesn't, I put the blame squarely on the heads of the RNC and Newt.

I think the folks at the RNC would be angrier with a Hoffman win than the DNC.
To: pissant
A fish in the newspaper to Obama, the RNC, the congressional RINOs, a good omen to those conservatives ready to run in 2010. That’s just a quick run through.

I hope Hoffman wins. If he does, the Republican Party should take heed.
Principle matters.

Did you catch this at the end?:
“UPDATE: A new Neighborhood Research poll has just come out showing the following results: Hoffman 34.1%, Democrat Bill Owens 29.2%, and Scozzafava 13.9%, with a ±4.8% margin of error. Among definite voters, it’s Hoffman 37.5%, Owens 28.4%, and Scozzafava 13.5%, with a ±5.6% margin of error. Daily Kos switching its endorsement to the Democrat in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...”

If Newt really wants to run for prez, why the heck did he go out of his way here to tick off the party base??? Maybe he's been out of the game too long.

(Newt) warned of the "grave danger of establishing the precedent that every faction can run a third party candidate if they lose a primary or a convention"That is something like a fair point from Newt. However, when 'our' candidate is a lefty who considered running on the Democrat ticket, there is no choice. Newt needs to realize that he's made a terrible mistake. Too bad for him, he now has zero political capital.

The best thing Scozzafava can do is withdraw.

It’s clear that Scuzzyfella should drop out and back the actual conservative Republican.
Prominent Republicans should start calling on her to drop out.

The way I see it, Scozzo is the Ross Perot who is ruining Hoffman’s chances for a win. She needs to back out but that ain’t going to happen.........

Indeed. The RNC has done everything it its power to undermine Hoffman. A win would put a very big stick in their eye and would set the stage for a lot of changes in upcoming contests around the country.

Yo, Newt. We know you'd never deign to lurk here at FR, but you probably have hired hands who do. Hope you're payin' attention, 'cause you're officially a has-been, a once-was. You've jumped the shark.
Vaya con Dios.

If the NRCC pours in $200,000 at the last minute on ads attacking Hoffman, as Politico suggests they may, they might still succeed in throwing the election to the Democrat.
Scozzafava doesn’t have a chance, IMHO. The people in the district have seen her, and they don’t like what they see. She is one ugly candidate, both literally and metaphorically.
But I agree that the NRCC may just prefer to see the Dem elected, so they can blame us ignorant voters for supporting “a third party candidate.”
This will certainly be a test of whether they are willing to see the light, even grudgingly, or whether they are determined to stick to their losing, big tent ways to the very end, because their pride and sense of entitlement are at stake.

The best thing that can happen is that Hoffman win over terrific opposition from the RNC that continues right up to election day, especially if Scozz drops out.

Why is Newt surprised that a person can lose a primary and announce themselves as running anyway? Lieberman already plowed that ground and won.
If the party thinks they can send crap out to do the same job as a true candidate they better wake up.

ACORN/SEIU will have to be watched on election night. They will do everything they can to make sure Hoffman loses. The D and the R candidates both will support those orgs, so the criminals don't lose with either one winning.

"And speaking of the Daily Kos they are currently in the process of playing down the lastest Club For Growth poll showing Hoffman surging into the lead. They are basically saying something like: "Please don't believe that Club For Growth Poll because it has a conservative agenda."
Does the Washington Post have a conservative agenda as well? They have also called it a two man race between Hoffman and the Dem.
