Hilton a no-show at California hearing; judge issues arrest warrant [American Private Police Force]

Michael Hilton, the mysterious figure at the center of a failed plan by American Police Force to take over the vacant 464-bed detention center in Hardin, did not show up for a scheduled court hearing today in California.

Hilton had been ordered by a judge in Superior Court of Los Angeles to appear in court and to disclose his assets to a plaintiff who has a civil judgment of almost $700,000 against him.

The judge issued a bench warrant for Hilton, who is now subject to arrest for his failure to appear, said Cris Armenta, an attorney representing the plaintiff, a contractor who loaned Hilton money for what turned out to be a bogus real estate scheme.

Armenta said she left four phone messages for Hilton, and notified him in writing and by process server about the hearing, "so there's no question that he knew about it, in my mind."

This is on top of his pending arrest warrant in Wyoming for various outstanding traffic violations, and contempt of court for failure to appear in front of a judge.

What do they mean “take over”?

Does that mean to buy?

Oh good. I was worried the warrant was issued on Paris Hilton. I’m glad it’s not her. She’s just a harmless party girl who likes to have fun.

The guy is a career criminal.

Yep, from what I read he's a con artist of the first order.

Yes the conman was trying to buy the prison off the foolish town that built it in the hopes of economic development.

Take over as in “control”, “run” and “operate”. Can ya imagine? Criminals running the prison?

This is a debtor’s exam. He was ordered to appear and the arrest warrant is to bring him in to disclose his assets. If they find him he will have to post substantial bail to assure his appearance and that bail is then forfeit to the creditor. It’s sort of fun for the creditor, assuming that the guy is found. I had a debtor’s exam once where the guy did appear and was sworn in and ordered by the judge to tell me the truth. We then went to another room where he refused to answer my questions so I just took him back in and told the judge who called the bailiff. The guy decided to talk. Another time I did an exam on a guy who owed back child support of about $40,000.00. He had just inherited some money and it was in a CD at the bank across the street. I found a typewriter in the courthouse (way before laptops) and did a garnishment and walked over and froze it, all in about an hour. That kid got to go to college. I do very little in collections but those two were fun. I know, I have a sick idea of fun.
