Exactly. Suicide bombing and car bombings directed at police vehicles are more common overseas. These will happen here. Give it time.

You are wrong. The author is right. If you read you article you would have seen that it talked about car bombs and suicide bombings at police stations. Doesn’t matter how strong and well armed you then. And the article gives examples from overseas. Read, read, read!

"These will happen here. Give it time."

It will be schools and malls next...

...followed shortly by Islamic learning centers.

Infiltrators??? Ignore the Morlocks at your own peril. They are here among us. We know who they are. They want to kill us. Make no mistake about it, the Morlocks are our enemy. And, yet, we do nothing.

May seem like a stupid analogy, but it's really not. You could even substitute green Martians, if you like.

I gave up on the idea of a moderate Muslim a long time ago. In fact, I think I was the last holdout. At least among the non-politicians. The politicians feel that they have to maintain that facade. (As does poor Dr. Phil. I thought he would burst with unhappiness and fear last night, when he was on Larry King, arguing with all his might that Islam is good.) It's true, Dr. Phil doesn't want a fatwa against him. Nobody does. That's why there's all the bowing and scraping, and kowtowing -- as if that will stop our enemy from cutting (or blowing) off our heads given half a chance.

Not a problem.

2 Glocks with 33 round mags. No reloads needed.

And a trained shooter can reload a he11 of a lot faster than 10 seconds.

I wonder what would happen were the army to just say that this Major was dead, and that he acted alone? He might find himself and his accomplices somewhere “private”, where they could discuss “life and things” with some army professionals, out of the public eye.

If asked, they could say that his body was cremated.

The Major and his buddies might find themselves part of an X-Files episode.

You did not read the article, did you? The author talked about suicide bombers who attack police stations and car bombers who target police vehicles. Doesn’t matter how well armed you are when a covert bomber is intent on killing. Police stations are excellent targets and you should expect attempts here. These types of attacks are more common in Chechnya, Sri Lanka, Russia, Algeria, and Iraq. Terrorists bring their techniques here. Count on it.

I wish they would tell us what kind of gun he was using. That could clear a lot up.

That, and he was "dead" for hours.

How does one guy, using two hand guns, shoot over 40 people in less than three minutes?

Whatever you do, though, don't jump to conclusions about motive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Muslims in the military in this country should be considered a security risk.

Fixed it.

So you buy this bull? There are a lot of things in life that are "possible" But a doctor, who was never in combat, was suffering from battle fatigue. Someone who was not going to carry a weapon, who could have just resigned or gone to Canada, etc. He just chooses to kill 41 people who have nothing to do with his deployment. You believe this Annie Oakley did this all by himself??

You did not read the article, did you?

I subscribe to the Lazamataz method of article reading...

I understand the history and methods of terrorism. My comment was about the cowardice of our enemies, not the inherent danger to any segment of society. Our enemies lurk in the shadows and strike the soft underbelly rather than locking horns in a direct confrontation.

My apologies, my knee jerk reaction from a quick read unfortunately.

I agree with your analysis, but sadly we had a station attacked in our County by a gunman that resulted in 2 officers being killed, so I am a bit sensitive to these discussions.

Thanks for the clarification and your comments.

I wasn’t talking “possible” (as in could-but-unlikely), I was talking “probable”.

Most likely/average case would be two Glock 19s with four 15 round magazines. That’s 60 rounds with only two reloads at 2 seconds each. 50 rounds fired, 41 hits. Averaging 1 shot every 2.4 seconds, he’s done in 2 minutes flat. Takes very little training & preparation to do.

It’s not bull. Yes, the equipment and skill required is very ordinary. Yes, at least once a year someone snaps and does something like this (what news source have you been reading for the last 30 years?) on a similar scale with similar results. And yes, every time this kind of event happens I have to explain to people like you that it’s really not that hard to believe.

Just to hammer the point home:
Today - TODAY! just the day after Ft. Hood - someone walked into a building and shot at least 17 people. Details at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2380103/posts
Details emerging.
Assuming 1 gun he probably reloaded at least once. The Ft. Hood shooter did the same thing, just with twice the equipment in twice the time. Nothing extraordinary about either case aside from the simple sheer evil of it - and even then it happened twice in two days.

Yes, some “ordinary” people do snap and do this kind of thing.
Yes, it doesn’t take much equipment or skill to do it.

Breaking news is that he used a 5.7-caliber pistol. Most likely it is a FN FiveseveN, using either two 30-round or three 20-round magazines - only one, may be two, reloads needed. A second pistol was present but not fired.

As for anyone tackling him during a reload: you gonna bet your life on tackling a shooter who may very well finish his reload before you get to him?

This post observes that the 5.7mm round is built for penetration. In a crowded area, odds are good that one shot will hit more than one person.

The perp practiced with it. Turns out a FReeper knew him at the practice range, confirming he had/used a 5.7mm. He had the gun, he was familiar with using it, he had it on base. Ability & opportunity confirmed, we just need to know why he did it (and, as shown by history including today, some snap and do this kind of thing).

Another factoid: the FN FiveseveN, which the perp used*, comes with three 20-round magazines. Two reloads.

(* - and owned, practiced with, and was adept up to 100 yards with (showing much practice and skill).)
