House Democrats have cleared an impasse over abortion that has been holding up a vote on sweeping health care legislation.

A vote is expected on Saturday - after President Barack Obama makes a late morning trip to the Capitol to make one final pitch for the legislation.

According to Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan, he and other abortion opponents will be given a chance to insert tougher abortion restrictions into the legislation during debate on the House floor.

The leadership hopes that no matter how that vote turns out, Democrats will then unite to give the health care bill a majority over unanimous Republican opposition.

Yeah - that's why Obama couldn't go to Fort Hood - the Hill visit and "healthcare" take precedence over a US terrorist attack.

It is sad that has come to this again. Too many lost blood in the cause of liberty only for it to come to this. I don’t understand it.

Obama can't condemn one of his muslim brothers. It would be against his nature. This guy is dangerous. Make no mistake.

They need 218 to pass. The fight is over which “Blue Dogs” or other vulnerable can vote no to cover themselves.

The abortion is the Bill itself, not the bogus concern about abortion funding.

Remember it still has to pass the Senate. I truly believe this will be the issue that will decimate the Democrats in 2010. I am actually glad they passed it in the House. It will motivate conservative voters more and more to get out and vote these bums out.

A vote is expected on Saturday

So is all this talk about a Tuesday vote just a misdirection play? If so, Seems like Queen Nancy is taking full advantage of the nation's Ft. Hood distraction to sneak this in.

Yes.

And if you think the abortion number is going to change anything without the other side making up for the change or worse, you’ve got another thing coming.

This has been at an impasse for months and that hasn’t changed and isn’t going to change.

There will be no Saturday vote unless the leadership feels like being embarrassed on the floor.

The American people voted for this on Nov. 4, 2008, and they have no one to blame but their silly, greedy selves.

I doubt that any amendment on abortion would be accepted by the far left. This is still dead.

Kill the Bill!

Wouldn’t it be interesting if a dozen GOP votes made the difference for passage? Wouldn’t surprise me.

Stop blaming people and start trying to convince them. If you don’t do that, you’re part of the problem and not part of the solution.

He’s not dangerous to the American people. They truly believe he is “protecting” their “peace and safety”.
