Bloodless President Barack Obama makes Americans wistful for George W Bush
Telegraph (U.K.) ^ | November 7, 2009 | Toby Harnden

Barack Obama's reaction to bad news is to play it so cool that Americans yearn for a bit more drama - and some even for his predecessor, writes Toby Harnden in Washington.

During the election campaign, Barack Obama's cool detachment was a winning quality, the "No Drama Obama" a welcome contrast with the "Mr Angry" John McCain, never mind the hot-headed "I'm the decider" President George W Bush.

A year into his presidency, however, Mr Obama seems a curiously bloodless president. If he experiences passion, he seldom shows it. It is often anyone's guess as to whether an event or issue truly moves him.

He has spent more than two months considering a troop increase but do we know how he really feels about the Afghan war?

In a sign that the Obama honeymoon truly is over, I began to hear this week the first stirrings of a wistfulness about Mr Bush. "I never thought I'd hear myself say it," one Democrat told me. "But Obama makes you feel that at least with Bush you knew where he was on something."

When Mr Bush's Republicans were defeated in the 2006 mid-term elections, it was the President himself who stepped up and declared that his party had received "a thumpin'". The Democratic defeats on Tuesday were not on anything like the same scale but Mr Obama acted as if nothing at all had happened.

Mr Obama had campaigned for Jon Corzine, New Jersey's Democratic governor, five times, twice just last Sunday. But when Mr Corzine lost by four points in a state Mr Obama won by 15 last year - a 19-point swing to Republicans - White House aides just shrugged.

In Virginia, which Mr Obama won by six points last year, prompting Democrats to declare an historic political realignment in

More serious perhaps was Mr Obama's strange disconnectedness over the Fort Hood massacre of 13 soldiers by an Army major and devout Muslim who opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, had praised suicide bombing and shouted "Allahu Akbar" as he opened fire.

His reaction to the Ft. Hood massacre is not strange to those of us who loathe Obozo with good reason.

Nice to see a UK paper writing about it though.

And, ha ha ha that a Dem would be missing President Bush....

I told my lib relatives that very thing would happen.

I want to hear it from them though....

This guy is as cold and emotionless as a cyborg. In fact I think he is a cyborg. He’s an Obamaton from some other planet and he’s only masquerading as a human being.

Every announcement, speech, and press comment is delivered with the same flat, detached tone of voice with the same inflection at the end of each sentence for emphasis.

All of the guy’s blood was removed at some point and replaced with embalming fluid.

I disagree. He showed lots of anger, and did rush to a conclusion, over the Cambridge police flap. Doesn’t anybody remember that?

>Makes you wistful for George Bush...<

Well, I wouldn’t say that! More like wistful for Ronald Reagan, or so disappointed because Duncan L. Hunter is not in thr White House.

God defeated Allah at Fort Hood.He also did not let Hasan die to gain a seat next to his perverted god.

Political Correctness is used to keep America blind to what actually goes on inside a Mujihads heart mind. The left has worked so hard at making sure that America does not see its war against Terror as a religious war, when in fact the enemy sees it as EXACTLY that. A religious war.

This is , as Bush said, a war against evil. And evil came to Fort Hood in the form of a jihadi who was in fact possessed by Allah. For me this incident has shades of the movie “Exorcist.”

And Good has triumphed, even though so many innocents died.
This truth of which we speak needs to me shared with America as much as possible.America needs to know of the evil which it faces, at long last. No matter what the left want to make of it.

The religious practice of the Mujihad needs to be explained to every one. There is an inner prayer designed to connect one with the self righteous energy of Allah, who literally takes over the body and mind of the jihadine.Thats what happened here.A kind of Muslim spiritual possession.Hasan was not insane, or deranged. He was just fired up on his prayers and energized. He was executing a religious ritual which he believed would open the gates of heaven for him.

The MSM will not properly inform the public about this religious practise of jihadism. It would no longer be a war on terror,The terrorists could no longer be redefined as “criminals” by Obama , who should be Mirandized with the benefits of due process that Bush had made sure to remove, as deserved.

Last night President Bush and Laura visited the injured and their families at Fort Hood. Today Obama and family left for Camp David. You choose.

It's not a question of drama. Rather a question of humanity. It would be nice to believe that these creatures who now run our lives were not the cruel horrors they self evidently are.
I can see the President, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid visiting a camp in winter, all bundled in the heavy fur collared military issued coats, Presidential Seals bright.
Looking out over fields of reactionary citizens dying of exposure. These things have to be done in the name of Hope and Change.
