Tough Road Ahead for Dems After Vote Passes
National Review ^

Listening to the debate on the floor today, it was clear that Democrats considered it a moral and ideological obligation to pass this billconsequences be damned. The leadership is congratulating itself nowPelosi is already the greatest speaker of all time apparentlybut there's a tough rough ahead in the Senate. Pelosi could lose 39 votes. Reid can't lose any. Passage in the House definitely creates more pressure on Reid to get it done, but the slender margindespite the size of the Democratic majority in the House and all the arm-twisting and deal-making (what did Cao get?)has to make Senate moderates even more nervous. There's a long string yet to be played out here, and it's still likely to stretch into next year, by which time Pelosis historic accomplishment of Nov. 7 may look foolish.

Lost the battle. The War moves to the senate, and every day until the elections of 2010 and 2012. Elections have consequences. We felt that tonight. Now its time to make the other side familiar with it.

Think about the position the Democrats were in after the election. The Dems and Obama got their “clocks cleaned” and the Left (Obama, Pelosi & Co) could not afford to lick their wounds. They had to do something like this right after the election because they knew there was no way this would have passed if the Dems would have had time to think about how they got destroyed on Tuesday.
The Dems have declared war on the American people and hopefully the American people will now awaken out of their slumber. We will see.

We’re on the verge of the worst and most inefficient public health care systems of any modern developed nation. Entire sectors of the health care industry will rot and fall off, standards for care will fall, people will lose jobs, it will be a huge mess and it will be owned by the Democrats.
Even if one was in favor of socialized medicine, a stream-lined system modeled after Singapore would be the way to go, not a new, gargantuan, unfunded mandate.
Let America experience what it voted for.

They passed cap and tax too with more Republican cover only to find a crap storm. Pelosi was afraid to allow the Reps to return home before voting on this.. afraid to let them even read it. But, now.. like signing a contract before you read it.. this turkey has to fly past a whole army of shotguns and howitzers.
We get to study it, and tar the Reps who voted for it with what they have done. We get to tar the Senate with this as they try again to come up with something they think they can pass and then they all have to vote on this crap storm again for real.
In that time, we have to impress the Bluest of Blue stater Representatives that they aren't safe. This isn't just the blue dogs in trouble but every Donkey in the corral.

Screw everyone who decided that the elections in 2008 weren't important enough to show up. This is what you wanted and got. By the time the GOP manages to overtake the RATs, if ever, it may be too late.

It doesn’t need overturning because it is not law yet. It still has to get through the senate and all manner of things can happen to it then. Crap and trade was passed last summer by the house and is still floundering. Why is that? Think about it. Dumbocare will likely go the same route.

Absolutely. When medications are not available, except for a limited amount of generics; when the elderly are told they’re going to be denied medical care because they’re no longer economically viable; when the quality of health care you receive will be based on your political ties; and when the best doctors flee to nations with freer environs, thus exacerbating a degradation of care availability... THEN the message will come through loud and clear.
But of course, the euphoria over getting “free” health care will need to wear off first.

While we have to vote the Democrats out... the greater problem we face is that so few Republicans are actually against all the socialism we already have. Yeah... they’re (the GOP) against any news bills to add more socialism... but when was the last time Republicans came to together to forcefully call for the abolition of all the socialism we already have... all the socialism created over the last century? Until the Republicans redefine themselves as the party of repealing socialism rather than the party of stemming the expansion of socialism we’re never going to save America because even when we “win” all we do with our majority is temporarily maintain the crappy and untenable status quo.
