On Friday, this NewsBuster [FReeper governsleastgovernsbest] noted how Pres. Obama, questioned at a news conference in Japan, twice refused to say whether he thought the United States' dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was "the right decision."
Yesterday on Fox News Watch, Jim Pinkerton noted the NewsBusters nugget. The Fox News contributor and New America Foundation fellow observed that PBO's failure had huge implications for America's nuclear deterrent.

FNC’s Jim Pinkerton gives me a shout-out for story on Obama’s refusal to defend US nuking of Hiroshima. Ping to Today show list.
Dumb question here... were other sitting presidents asked this question? If so, how did they respond?
So why didn't he answer this? It's not like it requires original thinking (it's been asked of, and answered by, every President since Truman)?
Why ask the question if the answer is already history.
I’m a big believer that dropping the bombs was very much the right thing to do.
However, this is the kind of situation where diplomacy requires you deflect the question in most all situations (we need modern Japan as a solid ally), and ESPECIALLY when you’re on their soil.
Now, I’m sure that even within these guidelines, Zero can screw things up.
Congratulations — I saw/heard your ‘honorable mention’ twice (I’m an early riser, and caught the ‘insomnia rerun’, too...)
Now maybe you could use your new-found status to push NewsWatch to shame the rest of the Media (including, sadly FNC) into covering the *real* “Shout-out Heard ‘Round the World”.....
;)
Truman was presented with estimates of from one to two million dead in an invasion of the home islands...he made the only decision he could.
The question in my mind has always been...why the second bomb? As least...why the second bomb so soon after the first?
That war needed to end...and in the long run Truman’s decision almost certainly saved lives on both sides.
Not surprised Obama doesn’t know this. Culturally, he’s not an American...he’s got a tin ear for our history.
WELL! Lets look at the bright side of the latest KENYAN SNAKEOIL SALESMAN’S ATROCITY! At least this time, the BOZO Kept his Soupy Sale’s Lookalike Mouth SHUT IN SILENCE!We expected the AMERICA HATER to declare Hiroshima and Nagasaki were WAR CRIMES and THAT He was going to Have AG ERIC HOLDER PRESS CHARGES AGAINST TRUMAN and All of the Responsible Military and Scientists Immediately!!! You can’t even use sarquasm with this IDIOT! No Imagination can keep pace with this Perpetual Train Wreck.....He is NOT QUALIFIED to supervise an Afternoon Shift for a Mc Donald’s Restaurant and we are stuck with him for another three devastating years...........:-O
Can we go for ‘D’: all of the above? ;-)
HOORAY Mark! Thanks to Jim Pinkerton for his follow-up comment!
Great work BTW, Mark!
The Second Bomb was needed for the Shock and Intimidation Factor! The JAPS didn’t surrender after the First Bomb was dropped!! They grinned and believed there weren’t anymore where the first one came from!! Hah! We surprized them with the followup BIG BLAST! IT WORKED!! STOP MONDAY AFTERNOON QUARTERBACKING!! There’s Millions of NFL Monday Morning Quarterbacks, there are only 24 Real Quarterbacks on Sundays!
BUMP! (for you and the great posters on this thread.)
AMEN! The Perfect, Socinct, To-The-Point Answer to OBOZO’S Banana Republic Agenda and Actions......:-)
Well stated BUMP!
I’d say that’s pretty harsh, coming from one FReeper to another. IMHO, ‘shout-out’ has crossed-over to the mainstream vernacular.
