Darwinizing Everything

--snip--

The Darwinians, who took over biology in the 19th century, are still busily engaged in mythmaking, comforting the feebleminded who accept their explanations as wisdom, denouncing the heretics who call their bluff. They wear S on their chests: Science, the equivalent of Superman in intellectual circles. They are phonies. Bring out the kryptonite of critical analysis. It scares them to death, even though they never had special powers to begin with...

"I'm sure it won't interfere with your usual tactics."

You'd better put some ice on that...

You better just take the last word so your ego will be happy.

If you wanted the last word, all you had to do was say so...

That’s awesome. So how long ago was your conversion?

I must say I appreciate your posts more than most others because you usually have a unique perspective and interesting facts or observations.

BCC, these crevo war threads are purely sport for the regular contributors. I have no doubt that the folks (on both sides) believe what they write, but the tone utilized is pure anonymous internet forum bluster.

As for the threads being posted by DU plants, I believe you are the first professed Christian to suggest that. I hope GGGs (ping) feelings are not hurt by the suggestion.

Crevo threads are like midnight showings of the old cult classic ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’.

Everyone dresses in appropriate costumes and everyone knows all the lines. Repeated in showing after showing (thread after thread).

And damage from friendly fire is nearly inevitable (as you found out), if you don’t toe the line, where folks who mostly believe as you do will call you names for any ‘off the reservation’ type comments.

Don’t be discouraged too much. In between the juvenalia that goes on, there are a few posters from each side who have interesting things to say.

Not offended in the least...do you know how many times I have heard that from so-called Christians that later turned out to be hardcore evos!!!

Actually, you're talking to a former evolutionist who was converted to a creationist in threads just like these.

How many snide comments and outright insults did it take?

And did he also come to his belief in Geo-centrism via “conversion” on a FR thread?

So would you call the Pope a “so-called Christian” or just a “hardcore evo”? Inherent in your comment is the assumption that nobody who is truly a Christian can accept evolution.

“there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”
Pope Benedict XVI

So just a “so-called Christian” or did he turn out to be a “hardcore evo”?

Speaking of phenotypes, David Houle of Florida State University complained in PNAS1 that evolutionary biologists have been neglecting phenomics – the study of morphology – for fascination with genomics – the study of genes. The phenotype is where natural selection acts. We need mapping between the two. Why? “the causation of key phenomena such as natural selection and disease takes place in a continuous phenotype space whose relationship to the genotype space is only dimly grasped,” he said.

Creationists don't believe in morphology.

“...the juvenalia that goes on...”

Some clarity. I’ll avoid these threads. Fight nice.

I know, bu bye.

"And did he also come to his belief in Geo-centrism via “conversion” on a FR thread?"

That was the result of finding statements like those listed below:

“Can we formulate physical laws so that they are valid for all CS [coordinate systems], not only those moving uniformly, but also those moving quite arbitrarily, relative to each other? […] The struggle, so violent in the early days of science, between the views of Ptolemy and Copernicus would then be quite meaningless. Either CS could be used with equal justification. The two sentences: “the sun is at rest and the earth moves” or “the sun moves and the earth is at rest” would simply mean two different conventions concerning two different CS.”

Einstein, A. and Infeld, L. (1938) The Evolution of Physics, p.212 (p.248 in original 1938 ed.); Note: CS = coordinate system

"...Thus we may return to Ptolemy's point of view of a 'motionless earth'...One has to show that the transformed metric can be regarded as produced according to Einstein's field equations, by distant rotating masses. This has been done by Thirring. He calculated a field due to a rotating, hollow, thick-walled sphere and proved that inside the cavity it behaved as though there were centrifugal and other inertial forces usually attributed to absolute space. Thus from Einstein's point of view, Ptolemy and Copernicus are equally right."

Born, Max. "Einstein's Theory of Relativity",Dover Publications,1962, pgs 344 & 345:

“The relation of the two pictures [geocentricity and heliocentricity] is reduced to a mere coordinate transformation and it is the main tenet of the Einstein theory that any two ways of looking at the world which are related to each other by a coordinate transformation are entirely equivalent from a physical point of view.... Today we cannot say that the Copernican theory is ‘right’ and the Ptolemaic theory ‘wrong’ in any meaningful physical sense.”

Hoyle, Fred. Nicolaus Copernicus. London: Heinemann Educational Books Ltd., 1973.

"People need to be aware that there is a range of models that could explain the observations,” Ellis argues. “For instance, I can construct you a spherically symmetrical universe with Earth at its center, and you cannot disprove it based on observations.” Ellis has published a paper on this. “You can only exclude it on philosophical grounds. In my view there is absolutely nothing wrong in that. What I want to bring into the open is the fact that we are using philosophical criteria in choosing our models. A lot of cosmology tries to hide that.”

Ellis, George, in Scientific American, "Thinking Globally, Acting Universally", October 1995

"That’s awesome. So how long ago was your conversion?"

It's been a process more than an event. One by one the evo/naturalist lies fell until all that was left was a YEC/geocentric view consistent with original interpretation of Scripture.

"I must say I appreciate your posts more than most others because you usually have a unique perspective and interesting facts or observations."

Thanks. I've been studying the issue for 15+ years and have gone from big bang/long-age/evolutionist to YEC/geocentrist by focusing on the science and rejecting the fallacy/philosophy.
