Palin: 'Jews need a place to live'
Jerusalem ^ | 11/19/09 | JTA

Former US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin disagrees with the Obama administration's demand that Israel halt settlement construction, although her reason for that opinion is puzzling to some (or at the least demonstrates she's not familiar with the term "natural growth" that much of the debate has revolved around). Palin debates Biden in St....

She told Barbara Walters on ABC's Good Morning America this week that she disagrees with the White House because all the Jews moving to Israel need a place to live.

"I disagree with the Obama administration on that," Palin told Walters. "I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead. And I don't think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand."

Let's see......

In 1948, Israel declare itself a nation under some really screwy boundries drawn up by the UN.....the Arabs attacked and lost.

1967.....the Arabs try again and lose, Sinai, Gaza, Golan.

1972 Yom Kippur....the Arabs, Egypt specifically, attack along the Suez Canal while Syria attacks from the East. It is a 'near run thing', but Israel prevails.....again.

That's the short version. Seems to me, conquered territory belongs to the victor to use as they will.

The headlin, indeed the thread, quoted it as “Jews need a place to live” not “Jews moving to Israel need a place to live”. I was responding to the quote I read. Not surprising that the media would take her quote out of context. I wag my finger in shame and the editor for such a hatchet job, since, he the editor wrote “blacks need a place to live” it would conjure up Ghettos. And while I support Israel, it isn’t a ghetto. Jews should have the right to live anywhere anyone else lives.

Still, as a national figure she should be savvy by now to choose words and explain ideas very carefully. Though I admit, it doesn’t seem to matter to most. President Bush wasn’t very eloquent and he won twice, and you couldn’t get more vague than President Obama’s campaign and he won. So I guess standards have dropped but I digress from the main issue.

I like the idea of the flag, but I don’t think they have rattlesnakes in Israel.

conquered territory belongs to the victor to use as they will.

The socialist state of Germany invaded Poland and France, and conservatives went to war. The socialist state of Iraq invaded Kuwait, and conservatives went to war. The socialist state of Israel invades Arab land, and conservatives support it. I don't get it. If Israel wants to expand horizontally they should purchase title to the land like America did with the Louisiana and Alaska Purchases. With technology though it's much cheaper now to expand vertically by building taller buildings. All this fighting over small patches of conquered Arab land is pretty stupid.

The socialist state of Israel????

You're right. You don't get it.

Convenient of you to forget the US acquired the Southwest, California, Florida, by conquest, then by treaty.

Modern Israel was founded by socialists, runs communes, has high taxes, nationalized healthcare, and a bossy government. The US paid Mexico to settle their claims, like Israel should do if they want legal title. Israel is the only instance I know of where conservatives support the territorial expansion by force by a socialist state and blather on emotionally without regard to the rule of law. It would be cheaper for Israel, and the U.S. taxpayer, if they expanded vertically instead of horizontally. It’s as if they like to fight the Arabs for its entertainment value.

I’m hoping that Obama does for Jewish support for the Rats what Nixon did to black support for the GOP. But I’ll settle for a 15 percent erosion. Every little bit helps.

Sarah’s perfectly familiar with the term “natural growth,” but she’s refusing to accept framework in which debate is being directed. More Jews will be moving to Israel in the months and years ahead, because America, England and Europe are being flushed down the crapper by You Know Who (Harry Potter ref, but also double entendre) and his international band of merry wealth re-distributors, and they’ll need a place to live. The piece process will go nowhere, and all things considered the greatest beneficiaries of that stalemate will be the Palis, and the more Jews move to Judah and Shomron, the closer the region will be to stability, regardless of whatever the foreflushers in Ramallah have to say about it. So let the settlements expand and grow. The truth is, there’s plenty of open space out here for everyone. “West Bank” is a misleading term. There are miles and miles of mountains between Jerusalem and the Jordan river. It’s not just a “bank”. So Sarah hit the nail right on the head, IMHO.

If I was a Jew in France, I’d be looking to go to Israel in the upcoming weeks and months.

Sarah really gets it.

This is another side of the same coin and why we need to support the tiny island of freedom and democracy and reality that Israel provides in a mass of Islamic countries, which think like Iran’s Superem Leader Khamaeni.
