No link for this as I just heard this being reported on FOX News. It appears that some liberal lawmakers, Charlie Rangel, David Obey and a couple of others may be proposing a "War Tax" on the wealthiest of Americans to pay for any upcoming troop surge in Afghanistan.
If there is such a thing as poetic justice...this is it. They would effectively be making all of the rich, anti-war Hollywood leftists pay for a war they have claimed to be against for the past 8 years.

The thing is the rich will not be paying this tax WE will be paying for this tax because we who make up the unwashed masses do not have tax attorneys and accountants to help hide what little money we have left after paying taxes.

When we are in "theater" our pay is tax free. Our spouses pay is taxed, but the troops pay is tax free. Our pay should be tax free all the time IMO. Honestly in reality a good number of us don't really pay taxes anyway, I have one E-6 income and four kids, I don't get any government assistance (although I did qualify when the kids were younger), but when it is all said and done, with the tax credits and all, I get back what I pay so I don't really "pay" any taxes.

One of the few Fedgov responsibilities as enumerated in the US Constitution is now to be used as a means to lay even MORE taxes on us?

Rush mentioned this yesterday during his broadcast and was thrilled over the possibility of seeing the Dim’s propose a tax.
I think he missed the point, long with others. This could be a very good move for the Dim’s. A tax on the war will make it unpopular and it will create pressure to end it. This plays right into the Dim’s playbook.
As you shouldn't. That's the very least America should do with such low pay for such high risk. Being 11 years ex-Navy, I know of the sacrifice and the "poverty pay" in the lower ranks.
