Jon Stewart on ClimateGate: 'Poor Al Gore - Global Warming Debunked Via Internet You Invented' By Noel Sheppard Created 2009-12-02 10:43

If people around the world needed any more assurances the growing ClimateGate [0] scandal is far more significant than America's media has been portraying, they got it Tuesday night from Comedy Central's Jon Stewart.

Somewhat surprisingly, "The Daily Show" host in his opening sketch tore apart the scientists involved in sending the obtained e-mail messages involved for showing "a clear effort to raise fears about global warming, and hide evidence against it."

Stewart even mocked the man responsible for spreading more fear on this subject than anyone on the planet:

Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. OH. OH the irony.

Irony indeed (video embedded below the fold with transcript, vulgarity alert, h/t Story Balloon [1]):

(BEGIN VIDEO)

UNKNOWN PERSON: A hacker in England got hold of emails between leading scientists which skeptics say show a clear effort to raise fears about global warming, and hide evidence against it.

(END VIDEO)

JON STEWART, HOST: Oh for f**k's sake! Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. OH. OH the irony. The iro---ny. Actually, the real story isn't quite that sensational. Basically, emails stolen from scientists at one of the leading centers for global warming show them discussing the work, a bit, how do I put this, casually.

(BEGIN VIDEO)

UNKNOWN FOX ANNOUNCER READING EMAIL MESSAGE FROM CLIMATEGATE PARTICIPANTS): "The fact is we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't." (Kevin Trenberth)

"I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline." (Phil Jones, CRU Director)

(END VIDEO)

STEWART: (Laughing) See, I tell you it's nothing. He was just using a trick to hide the decline. It's just scientist speak for using a standard statistical technique recalibrating data in order to trick you into not knowing about the decline. But here's what's great about science: in disagreement, we go back and look at the raw data.

(BEGIN VIDEO)

UNKNOWN FOX NEWS ANNOUNCER): University scientists say raw data from the 1980s was thrown out.

(END VIDEO)

STEWART: Oh for f**k's sake! Why would you throw out raw data from the '80s? I still have Penthouses from the '70s! Laminated. What did you keep?

(BEGIN VIDEO)

UNKNOWN FOX NEWS ANNOUNCER): The scientists say they kept something called "value added data".

(END VIDEO)

STEWART: Value added data? What is that, numbers fortified with art? Truth plus, now with lemon? It doesn't look good. Now does it disprove global warming? No, of course not. But it does put a fresh set of energizers in the Senate's resident denier bunny.

(BEGIN VIDEO)

SENATOR JOHN INHOFE, (R-OKLA.): The fact that this whole idea on the global warming. I'm glad that's over, gone, done. We won. You lost. Get a life.

(END VIDEO)

STEWART: Alright. We knew Inhofe was going to say that. That guy thinks global warming is debunked every time he drinks a Slushee and gets a brain freeze. "If global warming is real, why does my head hurt?" But by the way, that quote was from BEFORE he found out about the leaked email story. But that's the point. If you care about an issue, and want it to be your life's work, don't cut corners. It's disheartening for people inclined towards the scientific method, and it's catnip to these guys who are going to end up celebrating tonight drunk, roaming the Arctic Circle trying to skullf**k polar bears, which are quickly disappearing because of rising oceans caused now apparently by God's tears!

Pretty amazing.

To be sure, it's just a comedy show. However, for several years various polls have indicated that many young people in America get their "news" from this program.

As polls have also shown belief in the global warming myth seems to decrease as you go up in age bracket, young folks hearing Stewart's view on this matter could easily be swayed by it.

But even more important than that, "The Daily Show" addressing this subject is a clear indication that ClimateGate is not going away any time soon.

All we need now is for "Saturday Night Live" to start mocking Al Gore along with this entire pathetic scam, and we can say goodbye to cap and trade.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Bravo, Jon. Bravo.

Jon Stewart is Lefty, but he is smarter than average, and wants his ratings to stay high. So he will kick some more outrageous Lefty stupidities when others on the Left are trying to cover them up. Good for him.

HA! Yes, that’s EXACTLY what this whole scam is based upon, Jon!

You’ve got to consider tha maturation level of his audience.

Every person I’ve ever met who liked Stewart or Colbert was an immature little prick with liberal tendencies. The type which gets off on “shocking” older folks with naughty words and behavior.

... the kinds of huge economic and behavioral adjustments we would have to make to begin seriously limiting carbon emissions.”

One big problem is the average disconnected American doesn't realize the implications of "seriously limiting carbon emissions". What needs to happen is the direct costs to them in the form of higher gas prices, energy bills and inflation need to be explained. Yeah global warming is a hoax but I bet most people don't understand cap and trade and what this hoax is going to cost them personally..

>> Science built on lies is arguably the ultimate manifestation of the anti-Christ because it violates truth to its very core, and God IS Truth.

EXCELLENT point!

I agree with you - AGW will fall apart of its own weight.

It will sure be fun to watch!

Exactly. It’s simple thermodynamics. Literally, the first law.

But that’s actual science, and Stewart does comedy and fake news that’s sort of real.

Last century saw lots of those, in Germany, Poland, USSR, Cambodia, Cuba, China, Korea... good luck with THAT.

I am actually curious as to what Ann Coulter will have to say on this. I remember reading one of her articles where she stated that the libs finally hit on something where we will have to wait for over a hundred years before we can prove them wrong. Well, it seems it didn’t take that long.

As polls have also shown belief in the global warming myth seems to decrease as you go up in age bracket

That's because us oldsters clearly remember the "global cooling" hoax perpetrated by these same assclowns (and their mentors) back in the '70s. No matter what the hoax, it's always about the money. Try getting some of those $million$ in "grant" money if you are a scientist who DOES NOT support the position that manmade "global warming" is imperiling the planet.

That "grant" money is simply the front money put up by the global socialists in the hope that it will multiply itself thousands of times over when "global warming" is used as the basis for raising taxes ("cap and tax", for example) and the global redistribution of America's wealth.

Look at it this way: Imagine that mobsters have paid off a referee to fix the Super Bowl so that they can place bets and quadruple their money, but the referee goes and gets arrested and exposed as a crook the day before the Super Bowl. That's what 'Climategate' is like for these insidious "global warming" scammers. Only, these crooks didn't pay their bribes with their own money - - they used money confiscated from taxpayers for the express purpose of bribing "scientists" to fix climate data in order to scam YET MORE money out of those same taxpayers.

It just doesn't get uglier than this.

“Good thing Al Gore didn’t sell his Occidental Petroleum Stock. BTW, this is what made the Gore’s rich. Also, remember as VP Gore arranged for the Strategic Oil Reserve to be sold to Occidental. Remember also, Bush had to restock the entire reserve”

The Inconvenient Truth Al Gore Hopes You Forget!

So, I wake up this morning to hear Al Gore has won an Oscar for trying to save the world!

Then I went out and shoveled 18” of his global warming out of my driveway.

First question: Why didn’t he do anything to try to save the environment during his 8 years as Vice President and how many years as a senator?

Some say the Vice President has no power, can’t make policy, blah, blah.

Next question: Then why was he able to pull off selling one of our few oil reserves at Elk Hills in California to his big oil buddies at the expense of the environment and fuel reserves. This story was widely reported, but that was 10 years ago. How soon we forget.

http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=468

[snip]Occidental’s planned drilling of the Elk Hills doesn’t only threaten the memory of the Kitanemuk [Indian tribe}. Environmentalists say a rare species of fox, lizard and the kangaroo rat would also be threatened by Oxy’s plans. A lawsuit has been filed under the Endangered Species Act. But none of that has given pause to Occidental or the politician who helped engineer the sale of the drilling rights to the federally-owned Elk Hills. That politician is Al Gore.

Gore recommended that the Elk Hills be sold as part of his 1995 “Reinventing Government” National Performance Review program. Gore-confidant (and former campaign manager) Tony Cohelo served on the board of directors of the private company hired to assess the sale’s environmental consequences. The sale was a windfall for Oxy. Within weeks of the announced purchase Occidental stock rose ten percent.

That was good news for Gore. Despite controversy over Dick Cheney’s plans to keep stock options if elected, most Americans don’t know that we already have a vice president with oil company stocks. Before the Elk Hills sale, Al Gore controlled between $250,000-$500,000 of Occidental stock (he is executor of a trust that he says goes only to his mother, but will revert to him upon her death). After the sale, Gore began disclosing between $500,000 and $1 million of his significantly more valuable stock.

Nowhere is Al Gore’s environmental hypocrisy more glaring than when it comes to his relationship with Occidental. While on the one hand talking tough about his “big oil” opponents and waxing poetic about indigenous peoples in his 1992 book “Earth in the Balance,” the Elk Hills sale and other deals show that money has always been more important to Al Gore than ideals.

No bravos for scumbag Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz (nicknames: Lefty, Soupy, Poochy, Susceptible Boy) who lives up to his nicknames to the hilt.

It's his job as a professional comedian to cherry-pick this or that single event, issue, individual or scandal and make use of it if it lends itself to good comedy, irony or parody.....which he did in this case.

Stewart's core leftist ideology has not changed, nor will it change because of this one skit. His type remains intentionally ignorant in the face of the most mounting, existing or evidentiary data about the failures of socialism, communism, fascism.....or in this case, global warming.

He is amoral in every aspect of societal life.....and he sickens me.

The stupider half of our youth get their news from F'n John F'n Stewart (you're supposed to laugh now) They are the ones we need to get snippy with their GW profs.

In that survey they did a year ago about "who's audience is best informed?", Stewart's audience came in dead last. Only 46% correctly named which party controlled Congress. A Dumb rat in a maze would get it right 50% of the time. But these were Dem Rats.....Extra Dumb.

They're going to go kicking and screaming. If society decides to accept this fraudulent "science" as fact, then all science is irreparably harmed. Why? Because there will no longer be a dis-incentive for scientists to lie.

Which is why the scientific community, in self-defense, has no choice now. The frauds MUST be purged, lest the whole scientific community be tainted.
