SOUTH RIVER, N.J (WPIX) - A second teenager has been arrested in connection with an investigation into a planned "Columbine-style" attack at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest said the second teen is a friend of the 16-year-old who was arrested on Thursday. The suspect has only been identified as a 17-year-old boy who lives in Bridgewater and is a senior at Immaculate High School in Somerville.

Last night, police searched the 17-year-old's home and reportedly found a wide array of firearms and shot gun shells that matched the shotgun shells that were previously seized from the 16-year-old's home. The weapons were registered in his father's name.

The teen taken into police custody today was a competitive rifle shooter.

The 17-year-old has been charged with third-degree possession of a destructive devices.

NJ Teen Held For "Columbine" Threat At High School

Yesterday, classes at Bridgewater Raritan High School were cancelled due to a bomb threat—and a 16-year-old junior had been charged with "attempted murder, possession of explosives, possession of a destructive device and attempted widespread damage or injury." The Star-Ledger reports, "The teen was arrested after another student told a school police resource officer the suspect had told him of his plan 'to commit a Columbine at the high school on December 14.'" While no explosives were found at the school, "when police searched the teen’s home, they discovered homemade explosive devices, shotgun shells, bullets, black powder, as well as items that could act as explosive device components and bomb-making instructions."

Sounds like some creep who was planning a school shooting was the friend of a Boy Scout type, and so the good guy gets blamed for possessing perfectly lawful things because the creep was taking them to use them maliciously.

It’s hard to tell from the various sources if this was a real threat or a bunch of hysteria on the part of the media.

How does one find “bullet fragments” in the hall of a high school, and since when do “bullet fragments” constitute the need for a panic stricken evacuation?

I’m willing to bet your high school has changed a great deal since you graduated. Our society has gone to hell.

Actually, when I went there it was a late-50s vintage set of buildings. The design and set-up had actually been for a high school that would be built in FL, but some school board moron thought it would be “innovative” in NJ. The curriculum buildings (i.e., math, science, English, etc.) were separate and in the winter, you froze your ass off changing classes, or got soaked when it was raining, and usually froze in class as the heat sucked.

Since I have left, they did a complete remodel, and now it is truly a very nice school facility - air-conditioned and all. Lucky little shits.....

This is pure, overblown BS. They called in a bomb threat and there were some shotgun shells found in home searches. Shotgun shells are considered an arsenal in NJ, and the local papers described them as the makings of IEDs!! Imagine what the reporters would say if they ever figured out what could be done with fertilizer.

They know precisely what to do with fertilizer.

Fill up their paper with it every day.

“Imagine what the reporters would say if they ever figured out what could be done with fertilizer.”

Yeah, you can get over half the country’s voters to elect Obama, and most of the rest to vote for McCain. Worse than any school shooting, not belittling school shootings.
