Why Does Interpol Need Immunity from American Law? [Andy McCarthy]

Why Does Interpol Need Immunity from American Law?   [Andy McCarthy]

You just can't make up how brazen this crowd is. One week ago, President Obama quietly signed an executive order that makes an international police force immune from the restraints of American law.

Interpol is the shorthand for the International Criminal Police Organization. It was established in 1923 and operates in about 188 countries. By executive order 12425, issued in 1983, President Reagan recognized Interpol as an international organization and gave it some of the privileges and immunities customarily extended to foreign diplomats. Interpol, however, is also an active law-enforcement agency, so critical privileges and immunities (set forth in Section 2(c) of the International Organizations Immunities Act) were withheld. Specifically, Interpol's property and assets remained subject to search and seizure, and its archived records remained subject to public scrutiny under provisions like the Freedom of Information Act. Being constrained by the Fourth Amendment, FOIA, and other limitations of the Constitution and federal law that protect the liberty and privacy of Americans is what prevents law-enforcement and its controlling government authority from becoming tyrannical.

On Wednesday, however, for no apparent reason, President Obama issued an executive order removing the Reagan limitations. That is, Interpol's property and assets are no longer subject to search and confiscation, and its archives are now considered inviolable. This international police force (whose U.S. headquarters is in the Justice Department in Washington) will be unrestrained by the U.S. Constitution and American law while it operates in the United States and affects both Americans and American interests outside the United States.

Interpol works closely with international tribunals (such as the International Criminal Court — which the United States has refused to join because of its sovereignty surrendering provisions, though top Obama officials want us in it). It also works closely with foreign courts and law-enforcement authorities (such as those in Europe that are investigating former Bush administration officials for purported war crimes — i.e., for actions taken in America's defense).

Why would we elevate an international police force above American law? Why would we immunize an international police force from the limitations that constrain the FBI and other American law-enforcement agencies? Why is it suddenly necessary to have, within the Justice Department, a repository for stashing government files which, therefore, will be beyond the ability of Congress, American law-enforcement, the media, and the American people to scrutinize?

This obama guilt driven thing has to be dealt with before its too late. Obama has to be removed from office.

Every step is carefully calculated to diminish/destroy American might, sovereignty, its ability to defend itself and in turn replace it with a marxist dictatorship.

The buying of Obamacare senatorial votes highlights the attack on constitutional values... specifically representation by the people. The vast majority do not want it but yet the statute is being “bought” by Obama to complete his nefarious agenda. government control of the people, govt control of the economy, now he is edging in his new world order by bringing in a police force which has greater authority that the FBI, CIA and local police.

This bugger has to be voted out. The people need to be aware of the crap he is perpetrating on them!

What is the official WH explanation of why this was such an important thing for him right now? Has anyone asked?

No info but my speculation is Obama had staff pull up a list of EOs implemented by Reagan and Bush as a laundry list of TODO's that would be repealed over time to placate leftists here and abroad. Obama probably played that chip in his discussions in Copenhagen to make it sound like he is doing something.

Previous threads discussing this order may be read here:

EO: AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER 12425 DESIGNATING INTERPOL AS A PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION

And here:

Search for "interpol" didn't bring them up, sorry.

An INTERPOL branch in the US now cannot be searched, it's files are not subject to legal subpoena nor discovery. If any branch of government wants to keep documents out of the hands of the court system, just hand them over to INTERPOL until the smoke clears.

INTERPOL will now be able to maintain files on US citizens, and will be immune from FOIA requests.

Good Point.

Interpol breaks down the door of an American and said American, fearing for his life, shoots and kills 3 chumps. Oops, they are part of the International Police Corp.

American is arrested and charged with something like manslaughter(what is the charge for killing some international thug, who broke into your house?)

American law says you get to confront your accuser and all the information leading to it, in discovery.

Interpol claims immunity and now what happens to the case?

Is the American hauled off to the Haig or ICC with approval from the U.S. government?

Let me see, order issued during east coast blizzard news cycle was freaking out on Senate Health Care debate. Not like they didn’t want attention focused on it or anything.

There was a hypothesis out there that interpol had info on Zero (specifically his documentation and travels) that needed to be “expunged” or otherwise permanently hidden ... lest he be found to be a muslim, kenyan, wannabe marxist dictator.

Has anyone found / heard more on this rumor?

IMO, the plan of Obamugabe and his dem minions is to completely control the election process before the 2010 elections and since he has already circumvented and ignored the Constitution in so many instances already, he is preparing to become either "President for Life", or to become permanent head of a world government.

Holder has complete control of the inJustice department and Obama is using his czars to circumvent the nation's current law.

This is a very scary time folks. One wonders when our own military will be used against the citizens.

I have followed Cathy Buckle's "Letters from Zimbabwe" for several years. I think Obamugabe is using Mugabe's actions as a blueprint for the US. This is "reparations from whites" in a nutshell.
