roughly 18,000 people in Central New York ... are working part-time because they cant find full-time work. They arent counted in the unemployment numbers released every month because they are working. Just not enough.
People who have stopped looking for work also arent counted in the monthly unemployment figures. If both groups were counted, the Syracuse areas unemployment rate would be 14.8 percent. Thats almost 50,000 people, and almost double the unemployment rate in November, 7.8 percent.

These numbers would be widely reported if a Republican were in the WH.

no illegals in this particular spot in NY unless they’re brought up from NYC to do some weekend work. The locals want to be paid in cash only and most are on some sort of disability. Employers hire only part time workers.

"That doesnt include people working for cash (under the table) and ILLEGALS.And, doesn't include those self-employed. They aren't eligible for unemployment.

If 7.8% was the number the state wouldn’t be in the financial straights it finds itself.
I would like to see NYS public vs. private employment numbers. When my brother and I went to his Godmother’s funeral a few years back, we chatted with the bartender and her friend in the hotel bar. Their goal was to get a job with the state for the retirement benefits. Some ambition.
