Glenn Beck on birther issue: 'Dumbest thing I've ever heard'
World Net Daily ^ | 01/04/2009 | Drew Zahn

Posted on 01/05/2010 1:52:27 PM PST by autumnraine

On the air today, popular radio host Glenn Beck mocked "birthers" and claimed there is a concerted campaign to get those questioning Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility onto the airwaves – a strategy Beck said would actually benefit Obama.

"There's always games being played behind the scenes at a talk radio show," Beck said. "Rush has always called them seminar callers. But instead of being coy with the seminar callers or with you, I'm just going to expose the game that is going on. Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air."

"I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration?" Beck scoffed. "I mean, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

The ongoing dialogue then spun off into ridicule as Beck caricatured those who question the sitting president's eligibility with straw-man arguments reminiscent of jibes made by Obama's apologists in other news outlets.

Beck defined birthers as people who believe Obama was born in Kenya or other foreign country, was raised as a Manchurian candidate and somehow brainwashed Hillary Clinton into not exposing his fraud. According to Beck's running joke, birthers believe someone – maybe Obama's KGB "control" – preemptively placed Obama's birth announcement in 1961 Hawaiian newspapers with a "roadmap" of getting an African man into office.

As for Obama producing a long-form birth certificate to actually prove his place of birth, Beck questioned, "Why do that when these people ['birthers'] are so discrediting themselves?"

Get the must-wear clothing item for 2010! "Where's the birth certificate" T-shirt!

The radio host further argued that by distracting the public from actionable issues, "birthers" have become "a dream come true" for Obama, an ideal situation akin to the fantasies of adolescent boys after Hollywood bombshells.

“”trying to get Obama out by challenging his citizenship is probably not worth the investment in time and energy.””

“Trying to get the truth out and upholding the Constitution takes to long and is too hard.”

Those are your words not mine as you can see above. If you think you have the proof and you can get it through the courts in less than three years have at it.

I am a “birther,” meaning I have serious questions about 0’s background, birth, and constitutional eligibility for the Presidency. HOWEVER —

I’m weighing in late on this, but here’s what I think:

While certainly continuing to dig into his background, we must concentrate our efforts now on winning the November elections. That is the quickest and most effective way to stop this man and his minions from ruining our country.

Secondly, we must make political moves in the various states to keep him off the ballot in 2012 unless he provides proof of his birth and background.

Eye on the ball, folks. And the ball, in this case, is rendering Barack Obama, or whoever he is, impotent.

Politically, of course.

Beck’s star hasn’t crashed.

Just because he doesn’t agree with you (and many of us) doesn’t mean he isn’t doing a fine job of bringing other major issues to light.

Beck doesn’t have to be in on this. He’s got his hands full already.

Why would he go out of his way to ridicule birthers who probably make up a sizable portion of his audience? Sounds like a really bad move to me.

I agree with you 100%. I sent an email to him today and it wasn't pretty. He violated his own prime directives like "Question with Boldness" "Speak without Fear". Rather than talk to the Birthers, he talked down to them. And the way he insulted a HUGE percentage of his supporters, he basically committed political suicide. My opinion of him went to zero yesterday. He lost me and I will wager he lost a lot more than just me. Will be interesting to see his viewership percentages and ratings in the next week or so.

Having a Kenyan in the office won’t destroy our country; dismantling the Constitution will.

Having Kenyan in the White House is dismantling the Constitution.

Thanks for the ping. My thoughts, FWIW. [and it will not buy a sip out of a public water fountain.] This is more for those who believe they have intellectual superiority over the people they call “Birthers.”

If anyone questions about obama’s eligibility, the only course of action is to seek the truth without a predetermined outcome.

What little we know suggests something is not right with the narrative. He is hiding something. A potential candidate for the Oval Office does not scrub the world of his prior life unless there is somethinbg to hide.

Pretend it has been proved beyond a reasonable doubt that obama is a NBC. Where does that leave us? It allows us to eliminate that theory. It does not answer the question ‘Why has the President of the United States erased 99.9% of his prior life?’

On the flip side, pretend we have a video tape of Stanley Anne giving birth to Obama Jr in a hut in the middle of the Kenyan jungle, but no court in the land will touch it. What has it gotten us? The truth. The information would be out there.

Damn. I am so long winded I forgot my point...Oh yeah If anyone thinks birthers are passengers on a ship of fools. So what? Don't begrudge the effort, because sometimes the answers to other questions come from where we least expect it.

As far as Beck goes, it is a mistake to expect him or anyone else to fight this battle. The answers are out there. We do not need anyone in the media to find that truth. I did not see it but the fact that he mocked birthers tells me all I need to know. Behind his facade he is nothing but a narrow minded, petty little man.

A link?...to sarcasm?

I'm sure it's my fault that you didn't recognize that whole last section as satire, but I can't take this very seriously, and am surprised at the number of seemingly bright people who are jumping on this merry-go-round.

It means that he was born there nothing more than that and as Ed said he may of not known it. Kind of like if I was born in one state but was raised in another moved there before I was one year old I would have only the knowledge that I was born and raised in one state unless my parent told oh no you were born there and raised here. Not to make excuses for BO. To prove that he was was not born in the USA that is another subject all together.

I think secretly the birthers are liberals just trying to give conservatives a bad name.

You should have kept that thought secret. You just dropped your IQ publicly in front of everybody.

Beck is clearly unstable. Bipolar maybe? He’s lucid for 10 - 15 minutes and then lapses into sophomoric flights of fancy. sd

If the grandparents want to ensure that Barry has full citizenship privileges without any undue hassle

Big "if" hanging out there. Why would it even been an issue in 1961? They were a well off family by all accounts, so what would it matter? His mother was a citizen and by most measures that would make him a citizen anyway.

Hanging a whole theory on an "if" that doesn't make sense for a birth announcement is a leap of faith I can't take when easier answers are available.

Thanks rxsid. I've found a few, and I remember you.

The issue we face, if we take Obama at his word, is how to challenge him. Since the military was not willing to challenge Obama’s credentials, a long shot given their active prosecution of their own combat soldiers, we must use civil law. More need to learn about and follow the active legal cases challenging Obama’s right to authority. The Kerchner/Apuzzo case is comprehensive. It is wending through courts of appeal. But that was to be expected.

The new Donofrio/Pidgeon/Chrysler Dealers case has been filed. The Quo Warranto case long proclaimed the only path to presidential removal by Donofrio is to be filed soon.

The Taitz cases are progressing.

We need to bring attention to these cases. Apuzzo has published his case and written about the legal foundation on his web site. As public sentiment shifts, some court will take Apuzzo, because it is well-formed. He may not get all the counts in front of the court, but any one would be devastating to Obama. Sadly, the courts are political, and judges political appointments. But as voters lose their standard of living some judge will respond.

The Chrysler takeover seems so contrary to our philosophy of individual freedoms, we can hope the case is well structured. I believe that the more attention paid to these cases the better. It may be like a cricket game, taking weeks or months, but with an evolving strategy which we could come to understand, because freedom is at stake.

Donofrio is as well prepared as anyone, better than most, to discuss citizenship law. He hasn't yet filed the Quo Warranto case, but claims he will. Now he has clients. If Obama is illegitimate his takeover of the auto industry is has no legal validity. Donofrio knows the attorney general will not prosecute his case, but has discussed how to use the law to overcome the obvious conflict of interest - Holder is already defending Obama and could not legitimately prosecute him.

Taitz has been Alinsky’d, and is the least experienced attorney. She began, over a year ago, focusing on Obama’s failure of natural born citizen eligibility. Perhaps she shouldn't have pursued multiple social security numbers and a driver's license from Connecticut, where he never lived, but she is a warrior. The sensationalism, getting in front of the public is a tactic. She certainly exposed some malpractice. When the Obama team failed to respond to a petition, she won certain discovery, but was dissuaded by a judge, who promised to hear the case on the merits if she would forgive the deadline oversight and give the Obama team another chance to respond. Did it matter that the judge was assigned a clerk from the law firm defending Obama, the firm whose chief council is now Obama’s White House Council, weeks before his decision was due? It appears he lied to her - but I wasn't there. If we can't trust our legal system we will have anarchy, and guns will rule.

Watching the legal process takes patience, but that is our best chance at peaceful resolution.

Maybe when the birther movement manages to find a single shred of evidence after 2 years and countless man hours of searching for it, then maybe he will take it seriously. As it currently stands, the movement is a joke and a disgrace.

That single shred of evidence is right in front of GB's nose but he is too blind to see it. As it currently stands he is the joke and the disgrace.

Ummmm..., there is no joking around with Obama Derangement Syndrome types... they are "very serious" and don't you forget it... I mean, the world is going to end in December of 2012 (hey! the Mayans knew it way back then about Obama) -- if we don't find Obama's birth certificate... :-)

Succinct and correct.

The evidence is overwhelming and available for any jury to view, the problem is that the judges have turned into Kangaroos. This a very deep system that has been under threats and these judges have no unification.

What we the average Americans need to do is to get as many high ranking judges together for an audience, individually these judges fear for there lives, hopefully in some fashion if they were more unified can they gain some fortitude and directly challenge this false representative acting out in the Whitehouse.

We need to convince the SCOTUS that America wants their wisdom in the future, because if they continue to run and hide under each others robes they will forever lose the faith in justice by the citizens of America.
