Glenn Beck on birther issue: 'Dumbest thing I've ever heard'
World Net Daily ^ | 01/04/2009 | Drew Zahn

Posted on 01/05/2010 1:52:27 PM PST by autumnraine

On the air today, popular radio host Glenn Beck mocked "birthers" and claimed there is a concerted campaign to get those questioning Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility onto the airwaves – a strategy Beck said would actually benefit Obama.

"There's always games being played behind the scenes at a talk radio show," Beck said. "Rush has always called them seminar callers. But instead of being coy with the seminar callers or with you, I'm just going to expose the game that is going on. Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air."

"I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration?" Beck scoffed. "I mean, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

The ongoing dialogue then spun off into ridicule as Beck caricatured those who question the sitting president's eligibility with straw-man arguments reminiscent of jibes made by Obama's apologists in other news outlets.

Beck defined birthers as people who believe Obama was born in Kenya or other foreign country, was raised as a Manchurian candidate and somehow brainwashed Hillary Clinton into not exposing his fraud. According to Beck's running joke, birthers believe someone – maybe Obama's KGB "control" – preemptively placed Obama's birth announcement in 1961 Hawaiian newspapers with a "roadmap" of getting an African man into office.

As for Obama producing a long-form birth certificate to actually prove his place of birth, Beck questioned, "Why do that when these people ['birthers'] are so discrediting themselves?"

Get the must-wear clothing item for 2010! "Where's the birth certificate" T-shirt!

The radio host further argued that by distracting the public from actionable issues, "birthers" have become "a dream come true" for Obama, an ideal situation akin to the fantasies of adolescent boys after Hollywood bombshells.

Subject: Can you pass the history quiz most Americans fail?

Yes Glen, I can. Can you pass a quiz most Americans comprehend? Article II, Section I, Clause 4 of the United States Constitution? It is plausible to say you don't.

It is obvious to me and millions of Americans, you are either ignorant of the facts, or blatantly being intellectually dishonest to your audience.

Personally, I am offended by your condescending and arrogant, flag waving misrepresentations of the Natural Born Citizen clause in the US Constitution!

I strongly suggest you read it! Until then, kiss my made in America Ass!

I agree with you. I was listening to him everyday and I stopped listening to him today and will not listen to him anymore. I just think he was insulting to me and those who think this issue is more than just a BC.

“this issue is more than just a BC”

That’s it - it’s more than the BC. It’s a matter of transparency, adhering to the Constitution, and listening to the American people. If GB doesn’t understand this I see a problem for him.

Obama didn't find out who his real father was until some time after he wrote the book

You must then be aware of the fact that the book is filled with lies (you should become as well familiarized with “The Obama Nation”) and that the domestic terrorist Bill Ayers wrote it for Obama.

My point was he knew who his father was before he wrote the book because he wrote about finding the BC.I always listen to theories because I think it is possible his BC may have something other than foreign born he is hiding.

I have never read Obama's books. I can't even listen to him on TV let alone read his fictional history. Many parts of his books have been repeated over and over and I have remembered them. I have always believed that he had to write the books because he knew he could not release the truth about his past.

Obama has gone so far as to giving his books as gifts to school children so they grow up believing what he wants them to believe. Similar to George Washington and the image of him chopping down the cherry tree. Yes, I know Ayers said he wrote the book at the airport.

I have read Corsi's Obama Nation. I am disappointed Corsi did not go line by line and discredit the problems Obama found in the book as he promised everyone he would do after the book was released.

And it doesn't say he found the long form bc either

Short form tells the father's name as you know and that was why I commented on your theory.

Regardless, that still doesn't prove that he saw his bc at that point.

Obama did not even write the book, his terrorist friend Bill Ayers did.

The theory still stands. Your going on the words of a known liar change nothing.

You were saying ...

Having seen some of your responses, I don't expect you to understand, but for the sake of those attempting to: any candidate, including Obama, who presents a valid U.S. birth certificate, who is 35 and has lived in country for 14 years, but both of whose parents were not U.S. citizens is not eligible to be president.

I've seen the argument and I understand what the people are saying who make that type of argument -- which is definitely a different type of argument than the strictly "show me the birth certificate" one...

With this one, you're basically saying that on the basis of the certified and known information that we have -- and which no one is really disputing (just on the basis of the parents, themselves) -- that Obama can't be qualified.

And that would be fine, if that's as far as it went -- for that argument. However, that's not as far as it goes. There's another factor in there -- that the general public (the wide body of the voting electorate) takes into account too.

That other factor is that this information has all been known (as you state, for the parents) for a long time and there's been ample opportunity for anyone (who is in a position to do so) to "make a case" and prevent someone like that from being in that position (to be elected).

But, we see that even with all that information fully known, every state accepted that sworn and signed statement from Obama that he was qualified, per the Constitution, according to the three criteria that it specifies. Every state accepted that and none of them objected. In addition, all the Electors accepted that and none of them objected.

In fact the Republican candidate accepted that and he did not object. In addition, the Republican Party, itself officially accepted that and no one objected to that. And we add the Republican President, George Bush, of the United States (at that time) accepted that and he did not object. The Vice President, Cheney, accepted that.

The Electors were given an opportunity after the election to object and withdraw their votes and none did, they all accepted that. Even the entire Congress of the United States, accepted that, with not even one Republican Congressman objecting during the Certification process. Even Vice President Cheney, who was also there and had the capability of objecting officially at that time -- did not and he accepted that.

SO..., when the greater voting electorate sees all that happen, and sees a candidate make it through all those "processes" and no one who has the ability at every step of the way -- to object -- does object, at all, including even all the Republicans in a position to say and do something about it -- that tells the voting electorate -- that there is something mighty wrong and fishy about that assessment that you're making of Obama's "qualifications" from the reasons you gave.... :-)

Oh..., and there's no need for Obama to "manufacture" a birth certificate. The State of Hawaii has already gone on record saying that they have the birth certificate on record and that Obama was born in Hawaii and that he is a natural-born citizen (they said all that on official State of Hawaii letterhead). So, when the greater voting electorate sees that kind of official statement from the State, itself, who says that they have it on record -- that pretty much cinches it for the greater majority of people.

You were saying ...

Who is holding the gun to your head? Shall I call the cops?

A "car wreck" -- like the Obama Derangement Syndrome -- has a mystifying attraction.... :-)

I mean, it's like seeing a twisted piece of metal that used to be a car and no longer looks like one, and you just stare at it.

Likewise, it's somewhat mystifying to see some posters who (under other circumstances) seem rational -- to all of a sudden come out looking on their posting like they were in a "car wreck" and having lost all sanity in the process... LOL...

Oh..., I wouldn't call the police..., I would think a psychologist may be of help to some of those posters, instead.

I have never read Obama's books. I can't even listen to him on TV let alone read his fictional history. Many parts of his books have been repeated over and over and I have remembered them.

You didn't read his book yet you know the page and got the full quote about his supposed bc... from memory because you "heard it"...???

Excuse me but you sound full of it.

I have read Corsi's Obama Nation. I am disappointed Corsi did not go line by line and discredit the problems Obama found in the book as he promised everyone he would do after the book was released.

Actually, Corsi totally destroyed Obama's credibility.

So let me get this straight... you "heard" Obama's book so you know the page and exact quote on his bc, and that is completely believable to you even though Corsi exposed Obama's book as a complete lie. So much so Obama squealed like a pig and threatened to sue Corsi but of course never did. Yet while you believe the bc quote from Obama you are disappointed and find fault with Corsi.

I really don't care what you believe, but a quote from Obama is nothing but a load of crap and changes nothing.

You were saying ...

How many posts are you up to now...

I don't know about "tired_old_conservative", but my post count is up to and past 27,500 posts in ten years on Free Republic.

As far as how many posts have been posting to the Obama Derangement Syndrome crowd... ummm..., I would say about 1-2% of the total, since the election.

It was after the election that I saw what the serious problem was, that we had, which ended up getting Obama elected (in terms of the topic here). It was that there was no legal requirement for a candidate to produce their birth certificate.

And thus, once I saw that my candidate lost, that's when I started posting that we needed state laws to require a candidate show his birth certificate, or else he cannot be on the ballot in that state.

So, from about that time to now... yep... about 1-2% of the total.

Oh..., the other 98% or so... it's been about other topics (you know..., like my home page says, the Bible, Christianity, Islam and Muslims, terrorists, Anthropogenic Global Warming, abortion, Apple and Macintosh products, and you name it... a wide variety....) ... LOL...

The poor quality of birther reading comprehension skills never ceases to amaze me.

In response to my post that Obama's mother could have easily and legally obtained NATURALIZED citizenship for her son, you all replied with some variation of the following:

fr_freak said: Obama’s mother was too young to automatically confer citizenship to her son at the time of his birth.

danamco said: You just forgot that she had to be 19 years old to do that, and she was ONLY 18, case closed!!!

And the rest of you said something similar.

Earth to birthers: I never claimed Stanley Annn was old enough to automatically confer US citizenship onto her newborn son if he were born in Kenya. It is true that if born in Kenya, he would not be a US citizen at birth.

But that's irrelevant to my point.

If any of you had decent reading comprehension skills, you know that though he wouldn't be US citizen at birth if born in Kenya, as the minor child of a US citizen, he would be eligible for NATURALIZED citizenship under immigration laws in effect at the time. All his mom would have to do is fill out an application and present proof of her maternity and US citizenship.

Furthermore, unlike birthers, I can actually back up my claims. If you don't believe me, go read Title III, section 322 of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952.

So now, dear birthers, let me ask you:

What possible motive would granny Toot have to risk a purjury conviction and fraudulantly register her grandson's birth in Hawaii, if there were a simple and perfectly legal means for securing his citizenship if he really were born abroad?

Your commment on my post #226.

Best look at the globe instead of a map. It's shorter to cross the Pacific from East Africa than to cross Africa, the Atlantic, North America and a good chunk of that same Pacific ocean.

Your point well taken here. I had been thinking of the possible journey of Stanley Ann Dunham going to Mombassa. Either way, I am sure it would be over 10,000 miles. I note your take on headstrong young women and that surely describes Stanley Ann, as said by her peers, "not one of your matched sweater set girls". Nor with an affinity to the crew cut college types that abounded at that time.

I have noticed arguements against those who question the now President's elegibility. Some are well thought out and deserve the courtesy of a polite rebuttal. Others seem to be plants to outrage posters- certainly I am not one of them and I think you know this.

I like to carefully research as much as I can. Again, the public has a "right to know" and there is not the courtesy of at least independent researchers/ archivists being able to view the long form.

I cannot write off the statements of relatives who claim they knew of the now President's birth in Kenya. It has me puzzled. I do know however that when an Irish American, Gene Tunney, won the Boxing title as heavyweight in 1926, persons from Cultimagh, Ireland were interviewed. One elderly woman said he was pure Irish and was directly thus from Ireland by ancestral descent.

That brings up the President being British- well sort of. Fascinating subject but means absolutely so much to those who believe in the letter of the Constitution. One day it will come to light- one way or the other. To rebut the gad flies, I use the old country saying.

No harm in asking!
