Glenn Beck on birther issue: 'Dumbest thing I've ever heard'
World Net Daily ^ | 01/04/2009 | Drew Zahn

Posted on 01/05/2010 1:52:27 PM PST by autumnraine

On the air today, popular radio host Glenn Beck mocked "birthers" and claimed there is a concerted campaign to get those questioning Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility onto the airwaves – a strategy Beck said would actually benefit Obama.

"There's always games being played behind the scenes at a talk radio show," Beck said. "Rush has always called them seminar callers. But instead of being coy with the seminar callers or with you, I'm just going to expose the game that is going on. Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air."

"I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration?" Beck scoffed. "I mean, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

The ongoing dialogue then spun off into ridicule as Beck caricatured those who question the sitting president's eligibility with straw-man arguments reminiscent of jibes made by Obama's apologists in other news outlets.

Beck defined birthers as people who believe Obama was born in Kenya or other foreign country, was raised as a Manchurian candidate and somehow brainwashed Hillary Clinton into not exposing his fraud. According to Beck's running joke, birthers believe someone – maybe Obama's KGB "control" – preemptively placed Obama's birth announcement in 1961 Hawaiian newspapers with a "roadmap" of getting an African man into office.

As for Obama producing a long-form birth certificate to actually prove his place of birth, Beck questioned, "Why do that when these people ['birthers'] are so discrediting themselves?"

Get the must-wear clothing item for 2010! "Where's the birth certificate" T-shirt!

The radio host further argued that by distracting the public from actionable issues, "birthers" have become "a dream come true" for Obama, an ideal situation akin to the fantasies of adolescent boys after Hollywood bombshells.

BTW how was he born in a hospital that did not have a maternity ward until several years after his alleged birth date?

I was born at home, and it had no maternity ward. In fact, most people of my generation were born at home also. Hospitals were where you went to die.

Indeed. It is as if he has arbitrarily singled out this eligibility conspiracy theory as being utterly preposterous, but any other conspiracy theory is perfectly reasonable to discuss.

There is actually more proof 0 was born in Kenya than his being born in HA.

There is witness accounts and news stories in Kenya.

Some of those "witness accounts" are either hoaxes or random opinions of people who weren't there.

Kenyan "news stories" -- what are they, recent newspaper articles saying that he was born in Kenya without citing any evidence? -- don't count as much as the birth announcement in the Honolulu papers at the time of his birth.

BTW how was he born in a hospital that did not have a maternity ward until several years after his alleged birth date?

Which hospital? Kapiolani was formed from a merger of two hospitals, and you can bet at least one of them had a maternity ward, maybe the one called Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital.

For all I know there probably is something wrong or deceptive in the circumstances of Obama's birth or conception, but still, the odds are that he wasn't born in Kenya.

That is not a binary solution set. Implying it is is a fallacious argument.

I would hope our military would refuse to obey unconstitutional orders, but without staging a coup. The Honduran military recently gave a good example in this regard. They refused unconstitutional orders, but then followed the rules of their own Constitution, which is admittedly very different from ours.

Why can’t you grasp that REMOVING THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE would solve the problem?

You give Obama far more credit than he deserves. Is he an evil genius, or an incompetent doofus? I believe he is utterly incompetent; removing an incompent fool does not put out the fire, but does consume considerable time and energy - which allows the fire to do even greater damage.

He's just a village idiot, not a leader in any regard. He's just a useful idiot - nothing more. Chasing his birth certificate is just playing his game - diverting attention from the damage that the Democrats are wrecking on not only our economy, but our very most fundamental rights.

You were saying ...

I just find some of their denunciations of those who hold a different opinion to be unworthy of someone claiming the proud name of “conservative.”

I knew what you meant, and I was emphasizing the point in my own way, you see... :-)

But, I agree with you, as I've seen the issue as needing to be handled another way. I believe the real solution to this problem that the "birthers" are so "on about" -- is, very simply, some state laws making it mandatory for a candidate to show his birth certificate or else he cannot be on the ballot in that state. All we need is just a few states to do this, and it would shut out Obama for the next election.

That's the solution that I saw was needed right away. And in fact, several states did go ahead and try to put that through their own state legislatures. My own state of Oklahoma tried, but it failed in one house. I would imagine that it will be tried again, this session. At least I'm going to see to it.

However, with me having said that is what is needed for a solution -- I was immediately called a liberal, a leftist, a Marxist, a Obot, a troll (and you name it... LOL). So I know how that goes.

In fact, I ended up with quite a "following" (doncha know...) of these "Obama Derangement Syndrome" types around here, trying to get me banned, censored and told to go back to the DU... etc... :-)

I expect them to show up at any time..., if they still have "no shame left" in their character...

Would you rather the military remove a B.S. pResident from office or... march against us, the citizenry when worst comes to worst? (complete totalitarianism)

It's not an either/or. Get the military into politics by letting them unseat elected politicians, and soon or later they will use that power against the public.

Agreed. In fact, all it would take would be a single state. Here's hoping one will pass such a requirement. If nothing else, it will be very interesting when there is an immediate rush to file a lawsuit to prevent its implementation.

BECK IS CORRECT!!!!

His is the real kind of activism. Exposing the “Green Job Czar - Van Jones”...exposing ACORN. Stuff that matters.

I would not want him to waste one minute on this utter nonsense.

And I am increasingly befuddled at the number of Freepers who are so passionate about a political dead-end that is nothing more than a distraction from what is real...and is happening right under our noses.

Pelosi just told Brian Lamb to F*** OFF!!!
(...yeah but BO’s father was from Kenya, and his mother, even if she was a citizen, well maybe so then he's not really born in Hawaii, cause the newspaper was owned by George Soros back then, and it was a Catholic Hospital, and we all know the Vatican supports Universal Health-care...)

Lincoln, who I admire greatly, bent every effort to assume good motives on the part of his political opponents, during the greatest crisis in American history. I believe it is both honorable and in the long run politically more effective to do the same.

That approach didn't work out so well for McCain.

“...I believe he is not constitutionally able to be president, but, we can’t get him out now.”

So, the Constitution means nothing? It is to be applied only when convenient? It is to be construed in terms of the present conditions, as a ‘living document’?

Sorry, I’m not buying it. There have been multiple failures in this charade, from Cheney abrogating his responsibility at the EC certification process, to the talking heads taking their marching orders from somewhere east of Oz. I heard a report, today, that Leo’s case has made some progress in getting the Occidental College records released that indicate 0bama applied for and received scholarship money RESERVED FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS. So, what country did he represent as his homeland?

There is more to this than has been made public, obviously. I don’t give a rip for 0bama and the 0bamaroids. I DO, however, care deeply for the US Constitution. As a veteran, and as a citizen of the US (natural born, BTW) I care very deeply that this man has possibly perpetrated one of the greatest frauds in the history of this grand experiment and is continuing to thumb his nose at the American people. This could all go away so simply and so quickly. Merely show us a valid long-form BC.

It’s time to take back the country.

You were saying ...

was listening to ctocam last night and remote viewer Dr. Doom (maj. Ed Dames) has pinpointed the birth place of the 1 in Kenya.

Well, there's always "Chief Editor Korir" who has the Michelle Obama tapes in which she said that Obama was born in Kenya. However, the ole "chief editor" did not give the tape to Fox News before the election, even though he was strongly urged by a lot of conservatives to do so... :-)

And then, we had a guy named Smith, who was selling Obama's birth certificate on eBay, and it was going for about one million dollars, before eBay shut it down. This was proof to the Obama Derangement Syndrome crowd that there was a conspiracy going on over at eBay for Obama. And it certainly proved it when the auction was shut down repeatedly, about six times over again.

Finally Smith went to Orly Taitz and got her to get a court case going -- that is, until Smith told the judge that Orly told him to lie about things. And also, there was something about Orly wanting to "jump his bones" (it gets confusing at that point, but what doesn't with the birthers... LOL...).

Anyway Orly Taitz and Smith are on the "outs" -- Taitz lost her case and was fined by the judge big-time... but once again, this only confirms to the birthers that the entire justice system is in cahoots with Obama... :-)

Well, the saga goes on and on and on and on... my how it goes on... LOL...

I suspect that many of the Obama Derangement Syndrome, here, will be protesting the issue of Obama's birth certificate at the grand opening of the Presidential Library that Obama will have built... and so it goes...

The problem is the Constitution provides no mechanism requiring a candidate to document his eligibility.

When it was written it was expected that am Electoral College would de facto as well as de jure elect the President. They assumed this small, elite group of less than 100 men would decide on their own whether a candidate met the criteria.

In actual fact the EC never worked as intended and is now a mere formality.

We need a mechanism by which eligibility is certified before a candidate goes onto the ballot.
