National Cancer Institute Researcher Admits Abortion-Breast Cancer Link True

Washington, DC -- The National Cancer Institute gained a reputation for putting politics over science when it did everything possible to deny dissenting opinion during a meeting to establish whether or not a link exists between abortion and breast cancer.

Now one of its top researchers admits the abortion-breast cancer link is true, citing her own past research showing a 40% increased risk.

Makes you wonder if spontaneous miscarriage carries the same threat, since there seems to be a distinct hormonal component to the disease.

This is going to offend many of us who are b.ca. survivors and who are pro-life, never had an abortion(s) or ever contemplated one.

There may be other connections i.e. not breast feeding and having a genetic pre-disposition.

I just hope the study is comprehensive; i.e. what percentage of child-bearing women in the general population have had abortions and what percentage will have breast cancer. Impossible to predict.

Spontaneous miscarriage is normally not brought on by a sudden external cause - the hormonal impact on the body is less severe and sudden.

Elective abortion is an intentional sudden shock to a healthy reporductive system - the hormonal impact on the body is very severe and sudden.

I’ve read several places that miscarriage does NOT carry the same threat.

Sorry about your illness and hope it’s all gone.

That said, we should never be offended by truth. There are, no doubt, multiple risk factors and triggers for the disease, and we need to know what they are.

Most abortions take place early in pregnancy when hormone levels are very high. Killing the baby would certainly cause a shock to the endocrine system, and it makes sense that hormone-sensitive cells might be affected.

I agree with the poster who mentioned spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) as likely having the same effect.

It’s no reflection on you. Non-smokers get lung cancer, too.

The breast tissue physiological developmental changes that occur during pregnancy, especially the first one, are traumatically interrupted by aborting the gestational processes, resulting in increased susceptibility to later development of cancer.
In addition, I have wondered whether there may be a link between abortion and a significant increase in the incidence of pre-mature births; i.e., inability to carry a pregnancy through the normal term. What does “incompetent cervix” mean, or portend? How does it get that way? Does it affect ability to carry a pregnancy to full normal term?

It should not offend anyone who has had breast cancer and is prolife. I lost a sister-in-law to breast cancer, she was never able to have children and adopted. she was incredibly pro-life. That abortions might lead to breast cancer doesn’t mean that everyone who has ever had breast cancer must have had an abortion.

FYI - In layman's language the hormone receptors in the breast tissue open naturally during pregnancy. They close naturally after childbirth and miscarriage. They remain open after an abortion and are then susceptible to cancer at a greater rate.

Does anyone know the long term effects of birth control pills on breast tissue and its relation to cancer of the breast?

I am a BC survivor and I am not offended by the truth. I read the research awhile back, and it is compelling. Can’t remember about the spontaneous miscarriage effect, if it is the same as for the elective abortion. I believe it’s a matter of how many times you abort throughout your life (miscarriages included). BTW, I breastfed both my children until they were two, so there goes that theory. It’s all about informed consent and telling women the potential risks. Many will still go ahead and do what they’re going to do, but at least they can’t say they weren’t warned.
