So . . . essentially—a correlation for some deep tremors but not with conventionial quakes as we feel and hear about.
Interesting.
So, do any of the experts hereon know anything about the correlations between deep tremors and surface quakes in any sense of the word? I can’t imagine that they are 100% INDEPENDENT!

Sylmar was my first - as a child it was terrifying. I don’t think I ever got over it.

Ernest at the Beach mentioned earlier that " the place will go berserk! " should we get a quake that big in the Southern California area.
Then in the Eureka Times-Standard article Tubebender linked, I found the following bit of bad news about looting after the quake.
Eureka The Times-Standard
"... Eureka officers also spent the evening patrolling neighborhoods with power outages, Nielsen said, looking to protect against looting.
As of 11:30 this morning, Nielsen said his department had received one reported burglary from a family that said they went to check on loved ones, only to return to find items had been stolen from their home..."
Picking up the pieces, assessing the damage
If folks are low enough to loot in Eureka while people are away checking on their relatives, it's easy to imagine what might happen in the Southern California area.
However I don't recall hearing about any looting after the 1994 Northridge quake. Maybe after that big quake any potential bad guys and looters were too much in shock to prey on their neighbors.
While the security at the Bayshore Mall was evacuating the place they reported Yuts going in to loot the merchants...
