Polar bears near shore as ice vanishes (Study Shows 239% Increase In Polar Bears)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A 27-year study of polar bears in the southern Beaufort Sea showed them spending more time on land and open water as ice disappeared, officials said.

Between 1979 and 1987, 12 percent of bear sightings were associated with no ice. Between 1997 and 2005, however, 90 percent of bear sightings were associated with no ice, said Karyn Rode, a polar bear biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Anchorage, Alaska.

As sea ice disappeared, more bears were seen near shore in the southern Beaufort Sea, Rode said in a recent issue of the journal Arctic. Many scientists blame the warmer temperatures associated with climate change for the disappearance of the sea ice.

The number of bears sighted steadily near shore increased from 138 bears between 1979 and 1987, to 271 bears between 1988 and 1996, and 468 bears between 1997 and 2005, Rode said.

The bear observations and ice conditions were recorded as part of a bowhead whale survey conducted annually in the southern Beaufort Sea.

Polar bears can and will eat garbage and naturalists who get too close. They prefer going after tasty seals just choc full of nutrious oils and fats and lots and lots of iron compounds.

Wow, first the polar bears drowned when the ice melted and so their numbers dwindled. So the dwindling numbers proved global warming. Well, if their numbers increased, it must be due to melting ice and so the increased numbers must be due to global warming! Amazing thing, this climate “science.”

Who knew that polar bears actually are marine animals? Now we know that they are sea creatures in the process of migrating to land due to global warming!

As for the text which appears briefly ...

The first line says ( in katakana ) ka-me-ra-ma-so. That’s camera-something, I think indicating this is a candid camera shot.

The second line says ( in hiragana, and one kanjii ) “Hyokotto please leave”, and I think Hyokotto means something like teddy bear, so if I’m right, and I could be ! ... the teddy bear would be the girl.

... Japanese is a real bear, I’ll tell you that.

All I know is that Polar Bears vs. Sled Dogs = ADORABLE.

There's several videos on YouTube with them interacting. It's so cute I almost want to get a pet Polar Bear.
