TV funnyman Jay Leno is "furious" with how NBC has treated him and Conan O'Brien and is reportedly considering walking away from the network. A day after O'Brien threatened to walk away from NBC, Leno is considering doing the same.

This has been a disaster for NBC, but I’m not shedding any tears for them. They are just a big communist media front, and they are going to fail just like any other communist business enterprise. They make their own bad luck.

Exactly. Bad news for NBC is good news for us. The more viewers they chase away the less people see their communist propaganda. The less money NBC has available the less they can do to help Obama turn America into a socialist dictatorship.

Surely some how and some way it is Bush’s fault.

Leno is not as good in the 10PM slot as he was at 11:30, and we’d like seeing him again at 11:30. That said, however, O’Brien is absolutely awful. Doesn’t even approach being funny. No class and hateful to boot.

Leno should be the one POed....he was told by NBC that Conan would take over....yet offered Leno the 10PM show when Conan started to get beat in the ratings at 1230AM by Craig Ferguson.

All this blaming Leno is crap. Conan’s ratings have been tanking during his 1230AM show...and now with the Tonight Show. Conan’s ratings have always been low....and it is not the fault of Leno. Leno had great ratings vs Letterman at 1130PM....and Conan still ended up getting beat by Craig Ferguson

Only a whiny-arse liberal would continue to whine along with Conan...when in fact, conan’s lack of ratings are the real problem.

I am tired of all the ignorant hate and vile directed at Leno. Had NBC kept him on The Tonight Show....none of this would be happening. The bad move was not the 10PM show for Leno....it was promising the low-rated Conan The Tonight Show

I couldn’t care less what Leno does. His array of commie guests that he paraded on his show in his first weeks is one of the reasons he’s suckin’ seaweed now! Good riddance and don’t the door slam your ass on the way out!

Leno's show isn't bad, its just too early. He's basically doing the same thing he did at late night that worked, but isn't going to draw in the same numbers at that hour.

It was an interesting experiment, since obviously an hour or whatever of Leno is FAR cheaper to produce than scripted programming, so you don't need to have as big of numbers or ad figures to make the same or more money.

Unfortunately it didn't work.

Very much akin to "New Coke".

Not quite what happened. Jay wanted to retire, Conan came in, NBC’s numbers tanked, they waved tons of money at Jay to come back but he refused to take the Tonight Show back, they gave him another show instead.

Correct. NBC was trying to have their cake and eat it too. (Looks as though they'll "eat it" alright! LOL)

Personally, I believe Conan (whatever you think of him) will end up coming out of this the big winner. If he goes to Fox, Leno returns to "Tonight", and that a$$hole Letterman stays put, I believe O'Brien captures the $$$ 18-49 demographic while the two "old" guys fight it out over the "old" viewers.

I'd still rather see Craig Ferguson on Fox.

Conan has always been way way way down the list, he’s not top tier talent. He had a brief and fleeting moment of fame when he connected a bit with Gen Y as their guy... but it didn’t last and they still try to push him as high calibre... and he’s just not.

In fact, I’m hard pressed to think of anyone besides Leno who could truly draw an audience... Letterman is still out there, but he’s always been second fiddle and frankly hasn’t been entertaining for over a decade, but what are you going to replace him with?

Fallon? Conan? That other goofball retread from “The Man Show”? Be serious, they all pretty much blow.

FOX needs to get into the late night comedy world and I’d vote for Leno to go there - much more “fair and balanced” - should show up that idiot Letterman for the no-talent, misogynistic jerk he really is...

“The Obama Administration has to be worried.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Rahm hasn’t already entered into talks to get Blago this hosting spot so that Rod doesn’t spill the beans on Obama and Rahm in his upcoming trial. In the best case, Blago’s buffoonry is a great success: he’s happy and keeps his yap shut, NBC’s happy and this presumably is reflected in grateful political contributions to Obama’s coffers, which clearly would make Rahm and Obama happy.

In the worst case, Blago commits a series of gaffes that simply further erodes his credibility in the eyes of the public. He gets dumped, tries to rat out Obama and Rahm, but the jury just figures that it’s either sour grapes or that Blago’s a loon who’d say anything to save his own skin. This is a classic win-win-win situation.

I’ll watch Jay wherever is shows up. If he retires, it won’t be long before he gets board and restless. It’s good to see the legacy media continue to weaken.

Well I bet you that Leno’s show is still making more profit for the network than the scripted programming that used to fill the slot... but the network is getting crushed by affiliates who are POd!

Local affilliates bread and butter is NEWS... and with a lower viewed show proceding their 11pm news, their ratings are down and their revenues are hurting.

I don’t know the numbers for a fact, but I bet that profitability wise for NBC directly Leno at 10 is making as much if not more $$ for the network than the scripted programming it replaced.

Its also creating an affiliate revolt.

I’m sure someone here is closer to this than me, but the production cost for an hour of Leno is peanuts, compared to the cost of a scripted show.

I take that back, you get John Stewart and steal him from Comedy Central and get him on a network and stay out of his way and let him do his thing, you’d have an absolute knockout.

But other than him and Leno, I just don’t see anyone else out there.

One of them is going to have the slot if they don’t split it. Seems like Leno’s just matching threats.

I was disappointed with FOX supposedly courting Conan (D lister), but if they could snag Leno....!
