In Haiti, It's U.S. To The Rescue Again

Disaster Relief: Tuesday's earthquake in Haiti was its worst since 1770, leaving the capital in ruins and a death toll that may top 100,000. But help is on its way, and it's America leading the effort.

Our tiny tragic neighbor was already in bad shape when the 7.0 earthquake struck the capital of Port-au-Prince. It wasn't just any 7.0 quake, as if that were not bad enough, but a shallow one, meaning it shook harder.

Worse still, it hit the most populated area of the country, where 3 million of the country's 9 million citizens live — and left thousands dead and many more homeless.

The country's Roman Catholic archbishop perished. The United Nations chief of mission is dead and 150 U.N. personnel are "missing." Embassies are "in the dark," as a State Department official said at a briefing, with many still trying to locate their staffs.

The presidential palace, the buildings of state, the U.N. headquarters and the cathedral lay in rubble. Even the rich areas of the city with decently constructed buildings were devastated. As for the poor, the story is unbearably sad as the injured trapped in hovels cry out for help and bodies are dragged to the streets. There are no ambulances, no telephones, no power and no potable water.

But there is the U.S. and, all partisan politics aside, it's to America's credit that it's once again the last resort of the devastated, and has the biggest, swiftest response under way.

“When the aid starts flowing it will represent the greatest influx of wealth most Haitians have ever seen. The lust to control it will be strong.”

Sad, but true......As proud as I am that our country..gives...and...gives...and gives....
It makes me sick that the people who need help may never receive any help at all.....just damn...

"Haiti will not be saved until Fox News deploys Shep Smith!"

Shep Smith aside, where is FNC on this story? They're running O'Reilly - and presumably their "normal" prime-time programming in the face of the largest single-day loss of life in this hemisphere (at least in recorded history).

Until such a time that FNC endeavors to be an earnest and legitimate news gathering operation instead of a full-time commentary channel, people will continue to rely on CNN and the broadcast networks for "breaking" stories.

Yep...normally we would be first in line to help......but personally, I no longer have that 'compassion' that normally surfaces. It stopped when the Tsunami hit....and we saw Clinton & GHW Bush on TV begging for funds from the "American people". Well I'm sick of it....All we hear is what a 'selfish', 'energy hogging' 'polluting' nation that America has been (which I would like stats on the money AND assistance that Americans have provided during disasters. We have 5% of the population but use 25% of the resources? I'd like to see the stats on how much of that 25% has be reinvested in these poor, ignorant countries. Unless it's for a fellow american......COUNT ME OUT. NO MORE....

Haitians do not hate America.

The Haitians that move to our country work hard.

They are hated by the African Americans born and raised here because they are successful.

Well I just got back from Haiti 3 weeks ago. It was already Hell on Earth. In my opinion. There is no way the resources needed for this can be brought to bear in time. The News is going to be all over this for weeks. There is no water and the people trapped are all going to die. As time passes there will be over a million homeless with no food no water and no place to go. This is only beginning. Even Obamassia can not save them. This is unprcedented.

President Obama, the light skinned negro, could donate his Nobel peace prize money... be a good way for him to take the lead on donations... and then dig into his own pocket..

Never let a crisis go to waste. The Crats and MSM will now be 24/7 all Haiti all the time to deflect from Obama and paint him as a Hero. Any critisism of his policy will be sacreligious and uncaring of the thousands of dead blacks in Haiti. They will try to use the Hatian disaster as cover to sneak through Health Scam. The leads of all the Networks will fly to Haiti and set up camp. No critisism of Democrats allowed while they are saving millions.

The White House Negro says to go to the White House web site and make donations. For me....not in this lifetime, baby. You know what he will do at election time? Brag about all HE and HIS White House did for the relief mission. He will not mention that it was the people who gave the money. Or, he will funnel it to his people to use for pro-health care T.V. ads.

As for our household, my wife just went to the Red Cross site and made a donation in our name.....NOT the corrupt Obama Governments.

The Government stole my money out of my pocket and gave it away as charity to wealthy bankers. I don’t have anymore that I wish to give.

Can America really TRUST Democrats to forward ALL relief funds to Haiti ?

Sadly, someone has to ask this question.
