I kinda liked Quayle. He had his dumb moments but who doesn’t? Can any of us say we didn’t say something outrageously stupid in front of a crowd of people? I’ve done a lot worse than him.

Dan Quayle was set up.

And who was it that forced his hand at that blackboard? Was it the children who were in on this?

An appeal is only on procedural mistakes. If an Appeals court says that the trial was proper and that no mistakes in procedure were made(such as use of excluded evidence, failure to produce documents to the govt/prosecution, etc), then the acquittal stands. They cannot be tried again in the same type of court for the same charges.

The govt might try a “civil rights” or “constitutional rights” violation approach as it did on civil rights murder cases, but I somehow doubt that a court would accept it since was in a foreign country and in a time of war.

However you never know what Comrade Obama and his Smersh leader Eric Holder will stoop to to please our enemies.

It would only be double jeopardy if a trial had taken place and been completed with a verdict. A dismissal or mistrial would not reach that requirement. So, yes, the dismissal can be appealed.

I think they’re being pursued by our justice department because they’re white. Eric Holder is black and so is zero. Holder let the New Black Panthers, all black, off the hook when in fact there was already a plea deal completed for one or more of them.

There needs to be a concerted campaign to drive Holder out. He is a traitor - one with a tremendous amount of power.

Obamie’s Commies telling us that double jeopardy (ad infinitim until the commies get the verdict they want) is just fine, too.

Bottom line, and the future of the Justice Dept/Supreme Court when Obamie gets his next Supreme Court pick of the runt of the Justice litter. (yep we'll find out who the 'runt of the litter' is when that day comes....somewhere out there is a real dog who has had hind teat his/her whole career)

Recently, the American government is increasingly turning against its own people.

Recently, the American government is increasingly turning against its own people, now that there are more of them than there are of us (private sector employed workers). That tide can only be turned when government sector employment is reduced (ie, fired, laid off, RIFed, retired, voted out, etc), and private sector employment is increased. The private sector can only grow when the norm is returned. The growth norm is reduced tax rates, Certainty (instead of continuous uncertainty), gridlock, and an end to a Whitehouse talking Smack every day of the week! (oh, and a healthy profitable banking system would be nice as well)

For private companies to be waging war on America

For America to be waging war on private companies during a Recession/Depression is worrisome if not suicidal. If those private companies are Americans only defense, then that is per se double jeopardy. Judges in America (or for that matter anywhere) who hire body guards now and then need be 'concerned parties' who should be corresponding with the Holder level decision makers. Holder could be jeopardizing their careers, families, etc. Holder should let Obama talk smack if he wants to, an AG can't afford the luxury!

Thanks for the all the info, USNBandit. Extra charges for using a gun in the “crime”? They’re using laws set up for civilian crimes on US soil against these guards. Pretty ridiculous.

“Potatoe” was the common and accepted spelling through the 19th century. Quayle must have second guessed himself, as the word was spelled “potatoe” as written on the cue-card provided by the school teacher.

It's one of those “if you say so” moments. I do not fault Quayle one bit. Moreover, he would have looked like a jerk if he contested or challenged the teacher's card/spelling.

Dan Quayle is far more intelligent than people give him credit.

The Federal charges did not duplicate the state ones, and they stuck by the jury and appeals.

Note that you’d be railing in a second if the same kind of technicality was used to let off a killer in the USA.

I’ve seen “Potatoe” on numerous school lunch menus :-)

That being said, when Quayle asked the speller about “potatoe” and the speller answered “P-O-T-A-T-O” it would have been time for Quayle to say “Can we check a dictionary, please.”

When it comes to throwing our defenders under the bus to appease uppity ragheads, the tenaciousness of certain military & civilian REMFs know no color, law, or code of honor they will not cross.

Keep in mind that the trial for the Stark was stopped midstream, with the families of the murdered sailors in the Gitmo courtroom.

Though Bam Bam is clearly racist, and extremely likely Holder is as well, that pales next to the Hate America 1st meme he campaigned on and since nurtured, or the treasonous actions he has committed openly, such as financing a known terrorist organization with our tax dollars.

What we're seeing here is the shadow enemies of the United States taking one more step away from the darkness of the closet that they have been gathering in.

I doubt an appeal will be successful.

It doesn't mean the govt. won't bleed these men dry over the course of many years trying.
