Dismantling the banking system: is Obama lashing out at America for rejecting him?

He already wanted to tax the banks for having the temerity to turn a profit with the bailout money (wasn't that the point, to get the banks into the black again?), so the new plan to break up the banks is not different in kind. What IS different is the atmospherics.

The move, immediately after Obama's election defeat in Massachusetts, seems to have been very sudden, catching even his closest allies by surprise. With no warning, the previously "indispensable" Timmy-boy Geithner was cast aside in favor of the Depression-era nostrums of Paul Volker. Obama didn't even take the time to get the Congressmen who stood with him at the announcement on board:

Mr Obama’s more populist tack on Wall Street re-regulation failed to attract endorsement from Chris Dodd, chairman of the Senate banking committee, even though he was present when Mr Obama made the announcement.

The announcement was also described by insiders as "political":

“The Obama proposals were clearly politically motivated and came from the White House not the Treasury,” says a Democratic adviser to the administration, who withheld his name.

Just what does "politically motivated" mean, at a point in time when the nation was looking for Obama's initial reaction to the Massachusetts referendum on Obamacare? And it was a referendum. Obama made sure of it, announcing about the Massachusetts election:

“His overwhelming ego fraught with hubris will not take rejection or dissension well, so we can expect to suffer even more from his hegemonic, socialist wrath.”

Bingo. He indeed is striking out because of his rejection by the people for his policies, in Massachusetts. He i8s a spiteful sort and will “get back” at the public any time they do not like what he does. Egocentric in the extreme, and suffering from hubris. He is a dangerous child-man, with some definite psychological problems.

If you want to know where Bambi’s going, watch Hugo Chavez. Hugo just announced that certain businesses were going to be taken over and receive a direct payment from the state in order to keep their prices stable and eliminate their competition. These companies are not allowed to make a profit, but will have to accept what the government gives them, and the employees will be government employees.

Bambi started this with his government takeovers of GM et al. (and they are now literally state companies) and is going to move on to the next step as soon as he can.

This is a “take my ball and go home” moment, and yes in fact he would have no qualms in destroying the banking system to destroy America. It’s always been his (George Soros’) plan.

Last year, Obama quipped to some congressmen gathered at the White House, to garner support for some hair-brained legislation, “don't think we're not keeping score, brother.”

(or something very close along those lines)

It gave frightening insight to how he conducts the affairs of the nation (or as he sees it, his affairs). So called leadership with retribution and vindictiveness. He is a man-child.

I read about Chavez's move just this morning. Venezuelans are going to have to pull a Honduras...In the meantime, many states are aggressively pursuing 10th amendment declarations (including my own). It's going to get interesting.

True. Screw McCain and screw Noonan.

I’m so sick of McCain I can barely type this.

What the hell McCain is still doing in the GOP is beyond my comprehension.

I posted this exact thought last week.
Something along the lines of: “Slap me in the face in Massachusetts, and I will come after your banks”

This is the same punk with his smack talk about not bringing a knife to a gun fight. And the guilty white liberals slobbered all over him because he was clean and articulate while he said it.

I retired in 2003. Every year since that time during the Bush Administration I saw an increase in my monthly retirement.
I just received my 2010 statement of Tax Change. Just as I thought, the RATS are in charge and my retirement check each month will be at a reduced rate. How anyone can vote for these pr - - ks is beyond me. Where the hell is my Hussein Obama Tax Cut. Oh that’s right, I am not getting that!!
Another Hussein Obama BS statement.

I’ve read that was what the first depression was for - to reconsolidate the banking business into the hands of the few; cause runs on smaller banks & withdraw support.

People are watching this pr*** very closely.

I think he has even frightened some people in his own party. He can and will be impeached. If his allies start abandoning him, the game will be over for him.

His National Security policies would be a good starting point for charges...especially if we get hit again.

Obama is NOT lashing out at America for rejecting him..

Marxist go after the BANKS PERIOD...I have a photo of Obama “teaching” in Chicago...and there on the blackboard he has written words from RULES FOR RADICALS...

Under the title of “Relationships Built on Self-Interest” he lists: Corporations / Banks / Utilities

The COMMIE ALWAYS intended to go after the corporations, banks, and utilities....because they are the BACK BONE of capitalism, and capitlism is the ENEMY of Socialism.

Bingo...another reason the Health Care Industry is so important to him as well.

The “American Hugo Chavez” is confiscating the wealth and underpinnings of the USA.

Great post, thanks.
