Were (are) the Tea Parties effective or what?
Vanity | Jan 25, 2010 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/25/2010 11:55:30 AM PST by Jim Robinson

Can they hear us now?

They tried and tried to ignore us and pretend we did not exist, but they're not ignoring us now. And there's gonna be hell to pay this November. The Tea Party has declared war on the political ruling class and, IMHO, it will be an effective war.

Incumbents beware!

Just vote them out in 2010!!

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Roberts is cleaning house!!

Woo hoo!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

What say you?

Wonderful and effective, Jim, IF we can keep people from trying to co-opt them under one leader. That is where such movements lose their magic. Like the original States retained autonomy until the government started centralizing power. The tea party groups should stay independent and work from the local level, but staying in communication to coordinate plans for larger demonstrations and money bombs for targeted candidates. JMO

I say thank God for the Tea Parties. For a minute there it looked like we were in for a bipartisan socialist bulldozing of America with no opposition!

It seems Justice Roberts has heard the public’s discontent with Washington’s destruction of and open disrespect for the constitution. Maybe the Tea Parties are the people’s backing he’s been waiting for to turn back the Washington’s infringements of our freedoms in the name of that fascist/socialist “living constitution” that has “progressed” to nullify the real constitution.

This is the change I have been waiting for! I have never been disappointed in the Tea Parties I have attended. Thanks for all you have done to make the Tea Parties successful, freepers.

The Tea parties have given an out let for the Formerly silent Majority, and our message is simple “give us liberty...” and the power to tax is the power to destroy: John Marshall, you wont destroy my country!

We have a very active tea party in nj. They played a major role in ousting Corzine.

Indeed, we must be decentralized, we must remain outside of Washington D.C. our movement MUST be build upon our own individual and local values and believes. Because that is what matters, that is what is important! We should not have to agree on everything!

A signal leader would inheritance force such an agreement and that misses the point.

We must decentralized power, so that we can all have our own ways, and live up to our own highest individual values and believes.

As Bachman stated last night, the Republican need "to embrace them [the Tea Partiers]." She is correct, for it is the Tea Partiers who can restore the foundations of America's constitutional government for a free people.

No other group in America understands the ideas and principles of liberty underlying the Declaration of Independence and Constitution more than the Tea Partiers, and none are more dedicated and devoted to liberty for future generations.

Hear Justice Story's last words in his "Commentaries . . . .":

"§ 1907. If these Commentaries shall but inspire in the rising generation a more ardent love of their country, an unquenchable thirst for liberty, and a profound reverence for the constitution and the Union, then they will have accomplished all, that their author ought to desire. Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capable, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of fife, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence. The structure has been erected by architects of consummate skill and fidelity; its foundations are solid; its compartments are beautiful, as well as useful; its arrangements are full of wisdom and order; and its defences are impregnable from without. It has been reared for immortality, if the work of man may justly aspire to such a title. It may, nevertheless, perish in an hour by the folly, or corruption, or negligence of its only keepers, THE PEOPLE. Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them."

The left is having a hard time trying to understand the “tea party”...they keep trying to find out WHO the leader is...they cannot possibly understand that ‘we the people’ are the leaders! We are ‘like-minded’ with a instant understanding & bond! REMARKABLE & I love it...we will take back our country in 2010! No RINOS!

It is not a matter of understanding but a matter of the respect for each others rights, and the principled stand for limited constitutional government makes it so that we do not need to agree, for we could each do our own thing without harming each-other.

In short freedom brings peace among men. Only government the article of force bring war and strife.

As our founding father George Washington said:
“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” - George Washington

Men who forget this basic fact of nature only serve to enslave themselves and their countrymen.

“Look for the RINOs to start trying to co-opt the movement.”

You got that right, Bubba.

“they are going to become very, very dangerous.”

When they think they’re in real danger of going down for the third time, they *will* turn to violence.

“Democrats can be allies for freedom”

No, they can’t. Not, at least, until they become aware enough to become conservatives—ex-Dims, as it were.

They are the enemy. Our blood enemy.

“It doesn’t really matter who we elect, you can’t go to Washington D.C. as a power broker without being intoxicated by that power”

I think there are people who can resist that. They don’t seem to get nominated, though.

I have a ton of old timer family members who are dems and these folks are the salt of the earth. Died in the wool conservative, anti abortion, pro tax cuts... you name it. But the media so soiled the Republican party with Mcarthy, Nixon etc... in the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s that these folks still quote Dan Blather and Walter Cronkite and have no idea what their true ideology was. Conservative Republicans need to educate people from every generation about where the true home of the freedom party is.

While I agree with you in theory Va, which party will be more difficult to clean up? The RINO Republicans or the Democratic Socialist?

I would contend that tea party movement is much better placed to remove the RINO's than to purge the socialists. With RINO's we just have a corrupt national and state level party hacks to contend with, but with the dems we would have to not only purge their political apparatus but also their allies, friends, fellow travelers and co-signers in the media, academia, the judiciary, the unions and the trial lawyers.
