Troll Dissection 101 is an ongoing series where we’ll take you through troll droppings we find, and give you our take on what the DNC and Obama propagandists were trying to accomplish with them.
What follows is a comment caught today in spam filters, with our breakdown of the psychology employed in it.
We’d love to say the DNC and Obama propagandists behind these things incorrectly think Americans are so stupid they’ll fall for this stuff, but in reality, a good many people DO fall for this stuff. The problem, we’ve found, is that Americans in general are just SO NICE.
They are good, honest, decent people who approach the world thinking all those they encounter are good, honest, and decent people too. That’s why trolls are always “given the benefit of the doubt” and, largely, why people like BigotBasher, Wonk Hussein, Rumproast, Daily Kos, Snarkopolitan, DemocraticUnderground, and others on the Left are allowed to keep doing the things they do to attack people. Most people who are attacked don’t want to fight back, because fighting back is unpleasant, just as thinking about trolls deliberately trying to trick and demoralize people is unpleasant as well. It’s truly creepy knowing there is a legion of Obama supporters working always behind the scenes in Psy-Ops to bamboozle the blogosphere, but that’s precisely what’s going on .

I frankly love it when they come here, I want to debate people with different views, not listen to everyone validate everything I say.
We don’t want to be like them and kick everyone off we don’t agree with, only post from polls that we like, and ignore any opposing viewpoints. I think a simple *barf alert* is enough for controversial/propaganda articles.

Point proven. All ideas are open for debate on freerepublic except for Palin. It doesn’t matter that I’d vote for if she got the nomination. It doesn’t matter that I think she’s probably the best of the field so far. Lets not even have a primary or even look for other candidates. To paraphrase Al Gore on global warming, “The 2012 GOP debate is over.”
No, the point proven is that you made a troll like post, playing innocent, while actually you have been knocking Governor Palin since the first day that you signed up here on Nov. 5, 2008.

Why yes I did! Because asking questions about someone is the same as knocking that person.
Operatives who troll the internet don’t worry about posting stuff to existing threads. They tend toward provocative headlines, especially those that foment division. For example, the “Palin campaigning for McCain” headlines have been perfect for them. How stupid do you have to be to criticize Palin for being loyal to the guy who brought her to the nation’s attention and gave her the opporunity to be, as Vice President, a heartbeat away from the Presidency? And yet there have actually been arguments here about this! It’s embarrassing. The trolls succeed when that happens.
Look, your posting history from the day that you signed up has been anti Palin, I pointed that out because of your little self serving post early in the thread, and now you are doing another troll like thing, chewing up ground with nothing posts.
Good post, and you are correct. Freepers are very good at sniffing out the scumbags, and the mods are very good at getting rid of tem when alerted. They often know who they can listen to and trust on that accord.
Look, questioning a candidate is not being anti that candidate. Before signing up, I was a lurker since 1998 or so, whenever Drudge still had a link to the site. If troll is defined as not yet 100% behind Palin then I must be a troll. Yesterday, on another forum, I was called a teabagger. Now I’m a troll. Split the difference and call it a trollbagger.
