"Where Mr. Houston is correct is in our accidently identifying in one of the held up signs, the group as being a part of the Tea Party instead of a generic protest group. Thats something that we need to apologize for and own up to, because its just one of those stupid mistakes that happened through a series of stupid incidents. "
According to to Mr. Quesada, the book was ready to go to printer, but the panel in question had a group of protesters handling signs with no words on them, so the editor asked the letterer to "fudge in" some quick believable slogans at the last minute. The letterer referred to this sign as a sample to work from. Unfortunately, the reach of the Tea Party smear job from broadcast media affected a story line at Marvel Comics, regardless of error. While, comic book companies want to give fantasy characters a sense of current day realism, wading into areas of politics is guaranteed kryptonite for at least half their readership.

Look, if they made an honest mistake, then I can accept this as an apology.
This is what happens when a comic publisher takes sides. They alienate 50% of their viewership (much like actors do).
“...because its just one of those stupid mistakes that happened through a series of stupid incidents. “
No it isn’t, you liberal creep, and saying it is the OPPOSITE of “owning up”.
How about nobody ever buy another Marvel product, sounds good to me.
From what I have heard, it is not just the signs. The entire story line is hostile to anti-government-growth protesters. The explanation does not cover it.
The comic writer has been very leftist
Isn't Marvel hooked up with Disney?
“Mistakes were made” is impersonal and passive. Owning up is personal and impassive.
I would boycott but I must have my Spidey and Deadpool...
“They alienate 50% of their viewership (much like actors do).”
I think they alienate a lot more than 50 per cent of their readership because only about—I’ve forgotten the number exactly—24 to 28 per cent of the American people claim to be strict liberals. The 50 per cent mistake is the same one Air America made. “Duh, Hey, Al. Let’s put some liberal talk radio stations on the air. Yeah, they’ll be profitable. Don’t worry about a thing, Al. There’s no reason to do any demographic studies. Just trust me on this, will ya?”
That ticks me off more that the tea party signs.
It was also the remark that there are no blacks in the crowd that shows that this was no innocent blunder.
I don’t care enough to accept their apology.
I don't buy it. The dialogue implied that anti-tax protesters are racist:
Captain America says the protest appears to be an "anti-tax thing," and The Falcon [who is black] jokes that he likely would not be welcomed into the crowd of "angry white folks."
So even if you remove the reference to tea bagging you end up with Captain America and his sidekick describing anti-tax protesters as 'angry white folks.'
You have got to understand; they are liberals. Therefore, they are lying. Period, no questions. When they get caught, they try to weasle out with any lame explantion they can come up with. Usually they get cover by the “major” media. Not any more with the internet and cable. They are liars and they are sorry that they got exposed.
Good. This just goes further to demonstrate to everyone that the pervasive leftist bias in this country goes deeper than anyone thought. Who would have guessed you’d see leftist garbage in a comic book? And a comic book about Captain America, no less? By the time these leftist a-holes are done, they will have finally revealed themselves to everyone, wherever they are.
These are not honest mistakes. I was channel surfing last night and decided to check out a new show on FOX networks about a group of people who investigate murders and crimes by looking into the visions of people purported to have been reincarnated or some such crap.
I had just focused on the dialog when a woman said something to the effect that they had little to go on but it was enough because they knew the person they were looking for had certain characteristics. The guy said....."Yeah sure, we know he's white and angry! I'm thinking a Republican!"
I turned the channel off and I won't ever watch a single episode of that show, no matter how good or popular it might become. They killed it right there, as far as I am concerned.
Here are a couple of quotes from Ed Brubaker, who wrote this comic:
“Memo to Bachman and the rest of the tea crowd — We had a revolution already, it’s called an election,” Brubaker tweeted on Nov. 5.
Nine days later, he wrote: “What did we learn this week? That Sarah Palin is a lying idiot. Hey, welcome to 2008 again.”
