Interview with Sarah Palin (Palin *NOT* for Amnesty)
Univision ^ | October 26, 2008 | Univision

Posted on 02/10/2010 6:51:19 PM PST by Engineer_Soldier

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Great post, dangus. A single buz word, such as ‘amnesty’, can be nuanced. “I’m against amnesty but for ‘guest worker’.” Or, “I’m against guest worker and amnesty, but I’m for this expedited process.”

No idea. But it is pretty plain that she rejects amnesty and favors securing the borders. So the title of this thread has been debunked 100%.

I adamantly oppose amnesty. I also understand that you can't round up 12 million people.

The way to get illegal immigration under control is simple. Throw employers of same in jail and throw politicians who give them government largess in jail with them.

The second ain't gonna happen but the first is eminently doable.

>> Amnesty no, a path to citizenship yes. Big difference. <<

Could she please explain the difference?

“Tax hikes no, revenue enhancement yes. Big difference.”— typical libspeak.

Allowing them to remain in the country is amnesty.

Not if it’s conditional on application for citizenship.
Fail to apply within a set time and out you go.
Fail to pass twice, and out you go.

I thought the article said she supported amnesty. I’m a conservative and I have liked Palin but if she supports amnesty for illegal aliens, all bets are off with her and I think a lot of other people like me feel the same way.

Her endorsement of that piece of offal John McCain was unpalatable enough.

Palin: we need to close the borders. They are called illegal aliens for a reason and if they are not going to follow the rules they should not be in our country.

It’s pretty simple I ratched that one down to the simple answer because its an easier answer than some politicians want it to make it be. you close the borders. You get more agressive about cracking down on the illegal aliens and we take it serious what our border patrol officers are trying to do

LARS: The amnesty proposal that was defeated in Congress — in your view, was that amnesty for illegals and would you back amnesty for a path to citizenship, as the current president calls it?

SARAH PALIN: No, I’m not for amnesty. Let’s ratchet this down quite simply to remember what we’re referring to. Illegal aliens are called “illegal” for a reason. We need to secure our borders and I am not for amnesty.

And there are humane ways to deal with the 11-13 million illegal aliens who are in our country right now, but if they’re not going to follow the rules, they need to get out.

Please read the rest of the thread. You will read that she does NOT support amnesty, wants the borders closed and secured.

Why did you post an incomplete interview which omitted the excerpt of Palin stating she did NOT "favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants"?

EVERY post is an excerpt, thus the link to the whole post so that you can read further and decide for yourself. This is a result of a law suit we (FreeRepublic.com) faced almost a decade ago. Nevertheless, the whole interview is included with the link and you can read in her own words what she said. Like I said, don't lie to yourself or others, simply read it and decide.

Here's this interview and she doesn't indicate throwing them out.....

Amnesty

Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska?
I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?
There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?
No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

And the last question would be about politics. You only have two more weeks left...
Yes

What is your strategy? How are you planning to win the latino vote?
I will tell you, I wish that there were more hours in the day so that we can get out there and to more of the communities with such the strong Latino vote that is out there and really tell them that we desire to work for them. We are asking them to hire us and let us work for them.

Thank you so much. It would be impossible to ask you to say a few words in Spanish, right?
Oh my good-well, I don't want to embarrass myself, but … but gracias and I do thank you so much for this opportunity. I appreciate it.

Thank you, muchas gracias, thank you.

If you are going to be on a thread about Republican and favored conservative candidate, Governor Palin, and attacking her, then shouldn’t you reveal to people that you are a professional that is here as part of your job, and that are working for a different candidate as the chairman of his party?

“We need to secure our borders and I am not for amnesty.” Bushian.

“And there are humane ways to deal with the 11-13 million illegal aliens who are in our country right now,”

Crypto-amnesty.

“but if they’re not going to follow the rules, they need to get out.”

She does not mean the rules they broke, but the new rules for their amnesty,

Following Bush’s example, it might be 200 bucks and a background check but if the govt. can’t process all the claims in 90 days, everyone is in who way they were here on date X.

It was a devious plan.

Good thing we have the internet.

I also understand that you can't round up 12 million people.

Why?

By the way, there are several times that many in the country. The 12 million figure is a lie. But don't worry, they'll amnesty as many as there are.

What a nice little dup.... lol...we got tens of millions here, but you're for more guest workers?...

See #41. It’s from the very interview that Engineer_Soldier has misrepresented.

In the tidbit posted for this story it states: "It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country."

I take that to mean she is for Legal Immigration.

None of them are “following the rules.” They invaded our country illegally. So why doesn’t she want them all to get out?
