Maybe Bayh knew he could no longer masquerade as a moderate after supporting Obamacare.
FOX picked it up here:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/02/15/democratic-sen-bayh-seek-election-year/
His retirement is going to “stagger” the national party. They smell doom in the air!
My guess is he didn’t want to support Obamacare in its present form, and didn’t like being rolled by the leadership.
He will be viewed as the moderate outsider.
You might want to consider the idea of Bayh hiding out until summer of 2012...and being the VP choice for Obama. Face it...the only way to get independent voters back to the Obama team....is via a new face like Bayh.
Consider the implication of Bayh with a huge campaign chest and being able to hold it up to 2016...where he wraps up the VP job and runs as president.
And what does he do from January of 2011 to summer of 2012? He writes a book on moderate Democratic ideals...and gets a job with CNN as an analyst. So when you see him hired...just start smiling...because you know the rest of the story.
He’s running against the teleprompter? Won’t Rom E. and the boys take him out? Is Hillary next??
His father got slaughtered running for president. Bayh is going nowhere.
Bayah doing this 4 days before the filing deadline pretty much shows that it’s all about the polling. The article says that Dan Parker only days previously had stated to the paper that Bayah would be running for re-election. What’s more likely to have changed in a couple days? The gridlock and bi-partisanship in Congress? (Which has not been in session since then) or his internal polling numbers and trends?
He should just switch parties. That would tick them off even more.
The filing deadline for other Democrats to get on the ballot is this Friday. Is Bayh sending a message? The short notice certainly appears to be stickin’ it to his party.
Are you suggesting that O'bama is less than satisfied with Joltin' Joe ?
Joe is impeachment insurance, big time.
It's a long shot, but of all the Dem he is the only one that has been even close to being bipartisian.
Bayh can see the writing on the wall.
He has high approval ratings so the only thing I can see is he is either throwing his hat in the ring or Bayh has been making waves and the war room has decided to go to war against him.
Do the candidates need to have signatures on petitions to sign-up to run?
It’s tomorrow...people keep getting it wrong due to error in an article.
Sorry, Dan Parker, head of Bayah’s re-election campaign made that statement in this article:
http://www.indystar.com/article/20100215/NEWS05/100215009/Evan-Bayh-will-not-seek-reelection
Does this make Bayh a “quitter”?
I bet we find out it has to do with the european VAT tax dems are going to push.
And I bet Bayh understands who Obama is now and does not want to be a progressive marxist. He left because of partisanship but it was all on the dems side. He knows they are ramming through socialist policies. He probably knows that HC reform summit is another lie and dems have the plan they will push thru ready to go.
