AQUILLA, Ohio - It's quite the man cave.
Jimmy Grey says he's been out of work for almost a year and needed a project to stay busy. So with the heavy snowfall this winter, the 25-year-old labourer got to work on an extreme igloo in his family's yard in Aquilla, about 30 miles (50 kilometres) east of Cleveland.
His four-room creation has 6-foot (nearly 2-meter) ceilings and an entertainment room. He powers the TV with an extension cord plugged into an outlet in the garage. He also ran wires for cable television with surround-sound stereo.
Grey told The Plain Dealer newspaper that candles help add ambiance for nighttime get-togethers with friends, and the freezing temperatures mean that the beer never goes warm.

What happens when it gets to be 35 degrees outside?
An igloo will always be 32 degrees...unless it melts. But even while its melting, it’s still 32 degrees...until it melts to the point the roof falls in.
The kind of houses the Enviroweenies want us living in ...minus the electricity of course.....
Body heat can warm the air inside an Igloo quite a bit above 32f
You don’t understand the principle of latent heat of water do you?
Yes, it is possible to form a bubble of SLIGHTLY warmer air in the very center of an igloo. It’s also possible to form a bubble of slightly warmer air around your body in a 70 degree house.
I think igloos are temporary structures. A new one gets built every few days. I think if any new one was built at least 100 yards towards the equator, eventually its occupants would be in Miami, and the igloo would be unnecessary.
Jimmy Grey Jr. of Chardon hauls a wheelbarrow full of snow from inside his giant igloo February 11, 2010, on the front yard of his father's home. Laid off nine months ago, Grey, fills his time between jobs building the igloo with snow from dad's yard as well as from three neighbors' lawns. (John Kuntz / The Plain Dealer)
Um, ok. I was going to ask about that. I’m sure the young man is taking very good care to shield the electric cable and the tv and any other electric appliance. I’m mean given the snow(frozen water/ice) and all that....
His father is going to be pissed when he gets his next appraisal and finds he is paying taxes on an addition to his house.
If they don’t fine him first for not getting the proper permits.
Oh they want you to have TV - this is how they control the public.
Shouldn't be a problem. Any increased taxation should be easily offset by the massive number of carbon credits an igloo entitles one to. /gorism.
my husband has been laid off of work for one day and has been begging me for a honey do list. he’s bored already, needs a project.
