EPA, Countering Critics of Greenhouse Gas Findings, Says 'Science Is Settled'
Fox News ^ | 2/19/2010 | Molly Henneberg

The Environmental Protection Agency, responding complaints about its December findings about the threat of greenhouse gases, issued a statement Friday saying that the "science is settled" and "greenhouse gases pose a real threat to the American people."

The statement comes after after Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli filed a petition with the EPA and a challenge in federal appeals court over the EPA's conclusions.

With climate scientists in the hot seat recently over an e-mail scandal and mistakes in a prominent U.N. report, Cuccinelli argues the EPA should "restart the process and this time use rigorous, defensible science."

He says the EPA is expected to announces measures to cap carbon emissions, based on its climate change findings, and that will put a "staggering burden" on Virginia residents and businesses.

The EPA says it is going forward with "common sense measures that are helping to protect Americans from this threat" and said its critics are trying to "stall progress."

Water Vapor comprises 95% of the “greenhouse gases”.
Naturally occurring CO2 comprises less than 4 %.
“Man-made” CO2 comprises less than 4% of that 4%.
The variations in Water content in the atmosphere have significantly greater impact on the level of “greenhouse gases than any contribution man makes.
Furthermore, CO2 is an 800 year lagging indicator TRAILING temperature.
While the Arctic ice caps have retreated slightly, the Antarctic ice caps have grown and furthermore, 75% of Antarctica’s area is 8 METERS THICKER than it was 20 years ago.
Add to this the VERY long list of recently discredited AGW conclusions.....and assume for a moment that you are capable of objective assessment, you will likely conclude that there is NO GLOBAL WARMING!!!

EPA is way out of control.

And they have everyone so distracted with the CO2 issue that nobody is even noticing the the non-CO2 regulatory mandates that are pouring out of EPA.

The CO2 stuff will be tied up in court for years. The non-CO2 stuff - if you don't sue within 60 days you are SOL. And it is a tidal wave new requirements.

Just yesterday - requirements for diesel generators - about 900,000 impacted - cost to US citizens approximately $1B up front and another $350M per year.

No muss no fuss just done. And just an example of one of many...

The facts don’t matter.

Evil governments will take the power once an opportunity presents itself.

These GW scientists and environmental wackos has done far more damage to the world then they understand.

The EPA needs to be neutered immediately after the November elections. They are beholden to the people not to thier agenda, the only agenda they should have is the agenda the people give to them!

Time to dismantle the EPA and move all Environmental activities to individual State control.

When we take back the Congress the Reps could totally defund this cancerous Department.

It should be a promise made by the Republicans for 2010. Muzzel the EPA, or disband/defund the agency all together.

IMO, the states will draw the public opinion and the corporations, with their batteries of high-powered lawyers are gonna pound the EPA into the sand. The corporations are going right at the fraud. The EPA just saying that it's settled science won't stand up. They're gonna have to PROVE IT!!!! No amount of dry ice, vinegar or sea water is gonna help criminals like Lubchenco from NOAA to prove that greenhouse gases are pollutants. The IPCC report will be shredded, finally, in court for the world to see. If we are very lucky, Mann, Jones and some of the other co-conspirators will be hauled into the dock to face questions they won't be able to ignore.

As an aside, the lawsuits that will follow once the EPA looses will be legion.

I recorded Glenn Beck today to watch tomorrow, but in passing I believe I heard Beck say that Harrisburg, the capital city of Pennsylvania, is on the verge of bankruptcy ... largely because they were ordered to build a $228 million incinerator by the EPA. As one of the means of servicing their debt Harrisburg is looking at raising property tax by 117%.

Rogue powers wielded by an unelected, flunky bureaucracy ... basing their decisions on junk science. A cancer.

The EPA needs to be settled -- at the end of a rope.

America -- a great idea, didn't last.

You are right. In addition, CO2 is a non polar simple molecule that has narrow absorption lines, it can’t form in chains like water. In addition it has almost already saturated its absorption at resonance. An atmosphere that is 100% CO2 would only be very slightly warmer.

The administration is trying to finish off the economy. You just don't do things like this during a major recession.

The administration is trying to finish off the economy. You just don't do things like this during a major recession.

. Nonstop incessant promo Obamacare (economy-budget busting)

. Continued spending Stimulus funds on pork barrel projects (sheer money wastage - shoveling it into democrat coffers)

. Cap and Trade - Green Agenda - Global Warminig promo (American job busters each and every one of them)

. Upcoming Amnesty for illegal aliens (assuring Americans are displaced by "new citizens" willing to work for a fraction of the wages/benefits)

He's not "trying" to finish off the economy - he IS finishing off the economy! Every single day it's even more devastating Obama agenda news.

“Saying that the “science is settled” makes it settled. Let’s dispense with minor items such as data, evidence, proof, consensus, and the scientific method.”

This could make one really interesting Daubert hearing. I want a seat for the fireworks if it gets that far.

The EPA is run by lunatics, not scientists.

If they believe that carbon dioxide is a hazard to people, then they should kill themselves and lessen that threat.

My GOd, how stupid can people be? Oh, I forgot, Washington DC bureaucratics. SORRY!
