No tea for Sen. Kay Hagan? (Rally in Wilmington on Friday, March 5th to Protest Hagan Visit)
Wilmington Star News ^ | February 27, 2010 | Gareth McGrath

North Carolina’s junior senator will be in the Port City this Friday to be the keynote speaker at Wilmington Downtown Inc’s annual spring luncheon.

But it’s unlikely U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan will be joining local members of the Tea Party movement outside the Hilton Wilmington Riverside.

That, however, won’t deter the conservative groups from holding “a Tea Party in the senator’s honor.”

Although not homogeneous, the Tea Party movement in general believes in less government and more fiscal responsibility.

The sprung up last year largely in the wake of President Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus-spending package, which many conservatives viewed as wasteful and extravagant.

Hagan and most Democrats felt otherwise. The senator’s support for most of Obama’s other initiatives also hasn’t endeared her to Tea Party members.

So, according to Cary Naramore, co-founder of the Cape Fear Tea Party Patriots, the protestors intend to greet Hagan with “a message of freedom, liberty and our intent to work diligently towards replacing her in 2014.”

Sounds like a party to me.

From the Cape Fear Tea Party Patriots' Meet-Up page:
Due to Senator Hagan’s failure to listen, reply, or respond to her constituent’s repeated requests for a Town Hall meeting the Cape Fear Tea Party Patriots along with the local chapter of Americans for Prosperity, We the People of Brunswick Co, Alliance for a Better Local Economy, The campaign for Liberty and the Republican Liberty Caucus are holding a Tea Party in the Senator’s honor to take place Friday March 5, 2010 across the street from the downtown Riverside Hilton, Water St, 11:00am to 1:00pm rain or shine.

Senator Hagan has proven over and over again that she does not subscribe to limited government, fiscal responsibility, and governing by the Constitution and she has consistently voted opposite of her constituent’s desires on landmark legislation. Because of her record we will be greeting Ms. Hagan as she arrives for the Wilmington Downtown Inc luncheon with signs of our discontent and asking her if she cares to hear us now.

A second American Revolution has begun and its intent is to bring this country back to the ideals of our founding fathers and the prosperity of the American spirit of self responsibility and freedom of commerce.

She better watch out in 2016. Someone will run against her.

Kay Hagan is absolutely useless. She would have never won without the Obama sweep.

Actually, it will be 2014 that she is up for re-election. She is no more than a lemming for the Democrats. I think I will join the Tea Party in Wilmington. I will see...

Did you make it?

(My job interferes with a lot of good stuff, too. I think I’ll quit, live off the land and become a roving patriot...)

No, not a chance. I barely made it home Friday morning...no sleep at all Thursday before my first graveyard shift. I didn’t even hear anything about it, I should’ve watched the news when I got up, but forgot that too.
