Sarah Palin's secret "laugh track" machine at Jay Leno show: makes Adam Lambert fans like her, too!
New Palin scandal: Leno might have piped in some laughter for her jokes ^ | March 6, 2010 | RonDog (and FRiends)

Sarah Palin's secret "laugh track" machine at Jay Leno show:
makes Adam Lambert fans like her, too!

(An "after action" report from FReepers who were actually in the studio audience.)
In perhaps the worst possible development for the radical left since the discovery of Karl Rove's now infamous "Weather Machine," Governor Palin's recently exposed top secret "laugh track" machine appears to also have even more dastardly powers than were originally feared.

In addition to altering the space-time continuum, and reprogramming the master computers at NBC – to cause laughter during Sarah's monologue to appear where none had been before, and send well-intentioned jeers and "groans" from her wannabe stalkers into the abyss – this mysterious device apparently also exerts some kind of irresistible mind control powers over the loyal fans of "American Idol" megastar Adam Lambert, causing many of them to actually like the producer of the upcoming new "Alaska Valley Days" TV series, Governor Sarah Palin.

Or, at least, that's what the Kos Kids would like you to believe.

Many of those wacky ultra-left "conspiracy-mongers" who post at such online cesspools as the Daily Kos, Huffpo and DU have been foaming at the mouth all week about Sarah's "rock star" performance during for last week's taping of "Day Two" of Jay Leno's return to the traditional 11:35 pm time slot for the "Tonight Show."

Since I was actually in the studio audience last week when Governor Palin made her "comedy debut" – with a small band of "Palin palm print"-bearing FReepers (and FRiends) who had crashed the party with the intention of acting as "Ed McMahon" to Sarah's "Johnny Carson" – I call BS on their widely-reported, but easily-debunked, "laugh track" conspiracy theory.

In my not so humble opinion, however, the REAL "back story" behind last week's studio audience, which has naturally NOT been covered in the "State-Controlled Media" – was that a huge percentage of that relatively "pro-Palin" audience last week were "glamberts"– that is, hard core fans of "American Idol" singer Adam Lambert, whom many music lovers view as a contemporary reincarnation of Elvis. (Or, perhaps Liberace.)

In this thread, which will serve as the "after action" report for our recent Leno FReep, I intend to explore this strange – and very unexpected (to me) twist – on the controversial "big tent" philosophy of the new Republican party. And that strange new twist is, many Adam Lambert fans support Sarah Palin!

I am particularly interested in hearing on this thread from ADAM LAMBERT FANS who support Sarah Palin, but I would also like to hear from CONSERVATIVES who may have reservations about welcoming this new group of Palin supporters, many of whom have been NOT previously been engaged (or informed) in the political arena.

Personally, I like the concept of "My tent, my rules."

That is, we welcome the electoral support of just about ANYBODY – but only on OUR terms. I believe that the conservative political movement should be like America itself: everyone is welcome here – IF you agree to certain fundamental, non-negotiable principles.

Please post YOUR comments and opinions about Sarah Palin and the "glamberts" here.

Thank you,
RonDog

As expected -- from a tipoff in the Kos Kids diary -- the Washington Post weighs in, and NATURALLY they get it wrong:
Palin parody writer: NBC added laughs to Leno visit
A Maryland man who wrote a parody of Sarah Palin's autobiography and who says he and his wife flew to Los Angeles to attend the taping of Palin's appearance on NBC's "The Tonight Show" claims NBC sweetened the audience's laughter during her appearance to drown out the deafening silence, which he says was on occasion only broken by his own derisive guffawing.

Responding to Micheal Stinson's claims on the political Web site Daily Kos, NBC said Friday that "neither the audio nor the laughs were enhanced for Sarah Palin's segments on 'The Tonight Show' " this past Tuesday.

And other people we contacted who work in the industry said even if "Tonight" show did sweeten the laughter, or used "patches" of laughter from that audience to cover dead air or to smooth over edits in the show, it's not an unusual practice. Some shows do it, some don't, they said, explaining that the techniques used can be as simple as being sure to seat big laughers near microphones, to compensate for the non-laughers in the hall....

-- end of excerpt --
Since the folks at WaPo conveniently did not think to contact "other people" who were IN THE SAME STUDIO AUDIENCE as this bozo, I have posted the following comment to their online article:
I was also in the studio audience for that taping -- and can state categorically that the Palin-stalker who manufactured this "laugh track conspiracy" is DEAD WRONG!

Stinson's entire case is based on the difference between what he remembers hearing AROUND HIM (in the studio audience) -- and what he later heard in the complete soundtrack BROADCAST (to the audience at home).

Assuming that his memory is better than his objectivity, this difference COULD be true -- but is IRRELEVANT to his claim that NBC "doctored" the sound to make Governor Palin look good.

As he ought to know, the complete audio feed broadcast to the audience at home came from MANY microphones placed throughout the studio.

What Stinson may have heard around him was not necessarily picked up by the microphones around him.

And, vice versa. He may not have heard everything that was happening in OTHER parts of the (rather large) studio audience.

Stinson claims that he remembers hearing "many portions where there was little or no laughter or response, but at the later broadcast they are smoothed over with applause and laughter that WERE NOT THERE at the taping."

And he says that the "Groans, hoots, grumbling, or just dead silence" that he DID hear are all missing from the broadcast version.

He was apparently sitting on the far left side (naturally!) of the studio, over by the house band.

I was sitting almost dead center, uncharacteristically for a "right winger" like me. (At least I will ADMIT my bias!)

Personally, remember hearing virtually ALL of laughter and cheers that were in the final broadcast version of Governor Palin's interview and monologue.

Maybe that's because I was surrounded by Palin supporters. Maybe not.

But, I personally heard NONE of Stinson's alleged "groans and grumblings" in opposition to her appearance.

And, from where I was sitting, I also did not personally seeing him dancing around with his cartoon books.

It MAY have happened. I just did not see it myself -- and I was there.

Occam's razor applies here: "When you see hoof prints think HORSES -- not ZEBRAS."

That is, the simplest answer that fits all the facts is generally the best. :o)

And the SIMPLEST answer here is that the anti-Palin jeers were outnumbered by the pro-Palin cheers -- and the COMPLETE audio feed, from the ENTIRE studio audience, reflects that reality.

No sinister conspiracy theories are required.

NEXT time, Mr. Stinson, if you want to be sure that the sounds from your side make it into the final audio broadcast, BRING MORE DISRUPTORS.

And, NEXT time, Washington Post -- please at least TRY to find more than one (clearly biased) source before running this kind of easily-refuted trash.

Thanks for the ping, Ron. I'm a huge fan of both Sarah Palin and Adam Lambert. I voted for both of them :0)

For all his flaws, Adam is basically a nice Jewish boy from a terrific family in my hometown. As a very young man adjusting to overnight superstardom, it's guaranteed he'll have some missteps. But, underneath it all, I can tell you he was raised well and has always been respectful and well-mannered in my experience.

Here he is singing a lovely a capella version of the National Anthem in a private performance for the troops at Miramar in San Diego: A lovely a capella version that the troops appreciated immensely

And here he is singing "The Prayer" with Noa Dori at a memorial tribute for Yitzhak Rabin in Los Angeles: The Prayer

That you got to see both Adam and Sarah in the same night, while also conducting a FReep, is like hitting the trifecta. Color me jealous!

Sarah P’s okay and so’s Adam L. He can probably out sing her but she’s got her own charisma thing going on for her. I voted for McCain cuz she was on the ticket (came in 2nd) and I voted for Adam L. on AI and he came in second which is better than first for AI contestants imo.

My friend knows Leno personally. He’s been in Jay’s green room. He could debunk the laugh track thing quickly but only if Jay denied same and Jay doesn’t like this kind of stuff. His Tonight Show gig is for fun. Vegas is where he makes his living.

eye makeup not a problem. I hate wearing it cuz of my contacts. He’s doing what Bowie used to so, what Alice Cooper used to do - they all wore more makeup than I do.

When a gay guy has talent, would we say it’s a God given talent? or what? Adam can sing and he doesn’t creep me out. What is conservatism anyway? He’s not trying to marrying a guy...

Remember Clay Aiken from AI came in 2nd, came out of the closet, had a child with David Foster’s sister a few years ago and one of my friends is now a cousin of both of them through that invitro get together. I don’t know why I have these ties to this thread but it is what it is. Leno and David Foster. I hope that’s the end of it.
