Congressman Jason Altmire (D-Pa4) said in an interview on Fox News Sunday that he may vote in favor of the Obama Health-Care socialization bill.

Altmire was one of 23 Democrats to vote against the House version of the bill in November.

Why do people keep hoping the rats will have defectors, when they know they will pass it? A rat is a rat, period. These bastards are traitors and we need to be ready to stop this sh*t in its tracks. It is unconstitutional.

He is interested in getting re-elected. He will not be switching his vote. I think he voted no on cap and trade as well. His district will not tolerate him flip flopping on this.

I thought there were 39 who voted against it, not 23.

Altmire’s seat was bought and paid for by George Soros. He joined the Blue Dig caucus only because he needed a fig leaf.

That was patently obvious from his interview on FNS.

The fix was already in, nothing changed in the bill but he indicated that he "would be reading the changes and keeping an open mind."

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Good coverage of wavering members, including Almire here http://www.realclearpolitics.com/horseraceblog/

Update, 2:45 PM 3/7: After the Sunday shows, I’ve decided to make no changes in any of my ratings. Jason Altmire said some positive things about the bill on Fox News Sunday, but he also brought up abortion, the Senate’s willingness to deal in good faith, and the importance of public opinion in his (Republican-leaning) district. Those are all in the negative. Altmire’s comments to the New York Times last week were much more direct, and directly negative. Generally, Altmire has a long track record of inserting himself into national news stores that deal with process rather than the issues directly affect his district. (Those of us who live in Western PA who pay attention to this kind of stuff find his media...umm...”savviness” kind of funny!) My hunch is that he wants to be in the game, but that he will ultimately be a nay because he wants to stay in Congress. After all, he voted against the House bill in Energy and Commerce, and then he voted against the rule on debate for the House bill. This is a member who is concerned about politics, and more specifically about building a solid record of opposition. I’m keeping him in the “Hard to Persuade” category - his vote against the rule in November remains the tipoff to me that he’s playing political games. It’s a judgment call, for sure, and that’s why I’m spelling it out here.

Here is what he actually said:
"Using the word ‘switch' implies that this is the same bill. As I outlined, this is a very different finished product than where we were the first time we voted on this in November. Number one for me is where my constituents are. I'm not going to cast a vote that my constituents aren't comfortable with. I feel like they want healthcare reform. There is a level of unease with this package, and it's my job to talk with them about it and cast a vote on their behalf."
Hardly a ringing "I'm switching my vote to yes", given his district voted for McCain and is strongly opposed to the Senate bill.

Only if he’s been bribed, he stands ZERO chance of re-election in his district if he does this, so if he changes his vote, he got paid something big.
